The gun marks are based off your base xp if I am not mistaken. Best ways to boost base xp is capping bases in Supremacy and getting ally assist xp, track breaks can help with that as you can get yourself some damage and get ally assist xp if a teammates shoots that tank while it cant move from your shot

Gunmarks require consistent results, after the first 50 battles it starts to mostly count about 10-15 of your last games and rate you from them. The newer games you play the more they count towards your gunmark score when compared against your earlier rounds.

Not really high dmg is the bare minimum. You have to have skill and complete the side quests and do it 10-15 battles in a row.

Please note that damage and kills are FAR from being the only factors but yes if you do good just with that you'll get at least 1 mark, often even the 2nd

asisstance damage is what maters else pretty much, it carries your lack of dmg in some quick ones

Basically yeah, it’s weird. My recommendation if you’re playing a med or light is to try to cap the base on that side quickly if you can without taking (much) damage if possible. Depending on the tank you play you may be able to get some shots off before the cap, reload during it, and then be ready for another few shots after the base cap

I’ve had games that I’ve gotten a solid amount of gunmark progress not just because I had mid damage and 1 or 2 kills, but I had capped one base early then was able to get the mid base just under halfway through the overall battle. Didnt think about it at first but that base cap actually was why my team won (because of cap, otherwise we were toast)

…play carefully would be a better way to say that IMO. I play much more aggressive than most I know who play it and I can often do quite well. It’s a matter of learning where is too far foward that you get surrounded and too far back you can’t support allies enough.
I have several tanks at various gunmarks across several playstyles, so I’m not offering my option without something to show for it.

Passive playing can help get a bit more consistent games, however it runs the risk of being too far away to get much damage off if it’s a complete wipe and your team just pushes

Tbf, that might make it very hard to determine if disconnections happen randomly or "planned." People could just go, "This isn't going well; let me just turn off my Wi-Fi to prevent losing progress."

You lose the progress unfortunately, me for example I was playing Wz 132 and went down 2% because of disconnection before battle even began

You could only give players limited times of saving gunmark with connection issues, like lives in tourney, so that if the issue strikes you midgame you are given sort of a warning to log off and make it so it cannot be abused constantly.

Havent played many games since then, was more focussed on wz132, lt432, concept 1b, aufkl. Panther and t95e6

I didnt finish t95e6 and if i were you, if you play on eu server, trust me, you will think it is easy until you just got past second gunmark
I ruined my stats in e6 from 3,6k average to 2,8k average. Every good game was followed by 2 games where i got zero team support so i couldnt get higher than 94,2%

Extremely hard since waffen is hard to use and when you got no team support you will die immediately

It has no armor, its basically the biggest tank in game after type 5 heavy and maybe groundtank (its super tall)
And it really depends on what gun you are using
Im playing with the 5 shell 340 alpha cuz it has higher pen, better accuracy and you can keep enemies trackes cuz you got very quick introclip (faster than tvp with the clip booster)

Random thing I’ve noticed it looks like it’s gotten much easier to earn a mark than it was few months ago
Several tanks I made it to 65% and then immediately stopped there in relief/frustration and went to go play other tanks I noticed when I came back to look at them now they all seem to be at like between 69-78% even though I haven’t played them since I earned that first mark

So the good news is I can probably easily get a second mark on quite a few of these tanks if they’re already at like 70% some of them even at 75-78% ‘,:)

I tried to earn a mark on 116F3 before it got nerfed and it had like the 2nd highest mark bar and I had to average like 3.5-4.5K damage per game to not lose % just to get one mark it was by far the hardest mark I’ve done so far
It was harder to 1 mark 116 than to 3 mark Tornvagn (my only 3 mark) from my experience

Actually I think they are that slippery, my "EU and Ultra Tester" roles were everyday disappear on their own and I used to re-install them from Channels & Roles until I texted @wary furnace about them and he helped me, now they won't slip again.

For a tier 9 I try to get like 3k at least, 2.5K if it’s a bad setup (like bad map or 5 uptier tanks vs 2 your tier) with some 5K+ games in there to make up for any >1k games

And then ofc damage isn’t everything, kills and assist damage also help if you didn’t get a ton of damage

Dealing high damage helps but what you are looking for is battle activity.

Spotting assist and immobilization assist primarily, but being overall active and not sitting in one place cranks the gun mark EXP all the way up.

For example here it ways "average gun mark exp"

If i want to keep adding progress to this tank's gun marks i need to be averaging more than 129 exp per battle.

The average will change the closer you are to the third mark

It's kinda hard to say. If you already stagnate by moving from at least 85% (your 2nd marking) all the way down to 76%, I'm sorry but I really don't think you're going to get the 3 marks unless you improve at the highest scale which in other words improve at the game entirely.

Small advices like "for gunmarks try to cap more supremacy bases" or "be more active at the start of the game" are extremely small adjustements that can work on players who already has potential to get the 3 marks but get stuck at a solid and consistent 90% winrate. But there are no magic solution to get from 80% to 95%, just be patient and improve at the game before trying to aim the 3 marks

The only reasonable way to reasonably get assist damage is by getting some good timed track breaks and hoping to break it and get damage, that’s the most major part that I would say could even effect your games is trying to get a few track breaks for teammates to get dmg from (just hope the target doesn’t instantly fix it though…)

I appreciate the advice, tho i am not bad. I have average 60% wr and 65% in this tank specificly. Not to get off topic but i also have 13 masterys, 2.5k avg dmg, at 198 battles with the tank. I also have 5 3-marked tanks. I was thinking around advice on what to do when the team play doesnt go well. For example when we go in a group and 2 immediatly die, and im left with one other against 4 or five. I get battles like this very often, and gun mark never goes up in those situations. I dont feel like running away to the other remaining teammates, and the tank isnt very fast so i would die trying.

The 4005 is a paper TD. For some reasons most people do not know how to play them at all, and end up either dying really quickly or camping from afar. In other words, they don't do much. Importantly the statistics you scored are still saved for the tank so when marking becomes available for it you won’t be at 0 you’ll be probably close to 90%

Could be games played? If a tank isn’t played much or at all then it likely doesn’t have marks unlocked yet

Adding my marks to my irl models and added my two marks on Kpz 70 (P) and Tiger frontline (this one’s close enough to Frontline)
I updated my Tornvagn to now have my 3 marks instead of 1
And i added a mark to my 1/100 IS-8 it’s too tiny to paint an actual star so I tried

And my US tanks I’m kinda putting off because it’s hard to paint little stars
I still need to do my two T30 marks, two MBT-B marks and my one concept 1B mark
