Lore drop. I am interested
I am so INCREDIBLY late to this I'm sorry but I shall lore drop!!
essentially, the main character (Silas, the 1 w white n pink hair) got kicked out of his own house as a kid because his parents were like... this kid must be demonic!! his hair is unnatural!! and he ended up meeting the other main character, Vesper
so Vesper manages to convince Silas that a few coincidences of his dreams "coming true" (little things like small interactions he saw in his dreams that ended up happening) were signs that he was a prophet "just like him"
and one night both Silas and Vesper had "prophecies" of a god telling them he was gonna destroy the entire physical world but all of his devout followers get to go to "the beyond" where they're safe from death. so they start an entire cult
Silas ends up running into one of his childhood friends, Julian, and has they start connecting again. but he has to hide the fact he's running an entire cult. which is quite difficult
after a lot of suspicious behavior from Silas, Julian decides to look into it himself, eventually finds the residence of the cult, freaks out, confronts Silas, and stops associating w him entirely. Silas spirals really bad, becomes obsessed with God's perception of him, and eventually ||just cant take it and tries to commit|| < tw sui. Vesper is able to save him but one of Vesper's disciples (who was very much in love w ves) was pretty pissed at all the attention Silas was getting and started trying to mess up his mental state so he'd isolate and leave Ves all to her
vesper overhears a convo between Silas and said disciple, and it causes him to spiral. he starts questioning if either of them are really prophets or if they're driving people to hurt themselves for no good reason at all (the entire idea was pain = strength and purity, which they believed was how they proved they were worthy of the beyond)
so naturally, he decides he's pissed off at the world, takes Silas and leaves to practice this religion by themselves out in the woods, because Silas wasn't doing good at all, even worse with the tormenting from vesper's disciple, and definitely needed to be in a less stressful environment. they decide it's way better that way and the cult naturally falls on it's own, leaving nothing but whispers of the cult and it's followers among the nearby towns
