I know I'm typing a lot but can I say how annoying it was to get a pronounciation of Ciena's name FIVE chapters in?

It took my brain almost the rest of the book to change it in my head.

I feel like that's what it should be. The only reason I say it the other way is because I worked my brain hard to change it.

to go back to part of our discussion, it just occurred to me that you can tell that this was written before Rouge One, since Thane hasn't seen the Death Star in action on Scarif.

This is true, and I also did not notice this initially.

In fact, I think my brain papered over the gap by using Ciena’s pov of ||chasing down the Tantive IV.||

The relevant paragraph says something about || “three weeks into Ciena being on the Star Destroyer, they saw action” and then Ciena is shocked that the “rebels are firing back”.||

||Which is just about the Tantive IV. She’s expressing shock that such a small ship would keep running / fire back / resist in any way.||

But my brain read “Rebels firing” and I was like || “Oh she’s alluding to the Battle of Scarif, where the Rebels suddenly came out in great force, then she’s talking about chasing and catching the Tantive IV.||

Which is not true at all.

But apparently my brain just auto-inserted a reference to Scarif because that’s what was supposed to happen next.

Sadly I’m out too as I’m about to start a 3hr drive to my dad who has been on a gurney in an ER hallway for 22hrs. 😱

Jfc, that's insane. I hope he can get a room if necessary or discharged and sent home.

Emergency room waits in most states are pretty messed up. Like half my/family visits have some sort of wait time horror story attached. 22 hrs without a room is extreme though.

I’m so sorry. It took my wife forever to get an ER room after she was in an accident a few years ago, and she was a physician who worked at the hospital. Hope your dad gets the treatment he needs and recovers quickly

I live within 20 minutes of at least 6 hospitals, at least 5 of which have ERs (not counting the women's or children's hospitals which also have ERs). So I've never had to wait more than 30 minutes or so. But the urgent care wait times are much higher.

Oh also the VA

I am very aware this is not the norm

I once had an entire asthma attack in the ER waiting room, recovered and then left without ever being taken back and that's mild compared to some of the other stories I could tell.
