#Star Wars Unlimited General Discussion

Is there a community of people playing Unlimited at Batuu? Just picked up some boosters and about to make a deck!
SET 3 NEXT WEEKEND HOLY CRAP.
My bank account is not ready
Mine neither. I reserved one box
Is anyone still able to find Spark of Rebellion? Seems like my LGS is sold out. Is that normal for other people?
I don't think the big reprint has hit stores yet. My LGS got some boxes awhile ago but they're reserved for weekly play prize support.
Once again, a showcase pull paid for my boxes this set.
HOWEVER
According to my LGS...Things are looking up on the whole "stock" thing soooo
SELL IT
Good!
Nothing on my LGS
My LGS got shafted previously, they got everything they ordered this time.
Attendance has dropped lately, lgs owner hopes set 3 is gonna make things pick up again. He thinks there’s also some Boba/Han burnout happening, and the meta should get shook up again with 3
Hope so, my LGS has experienced the same.
Just picked up my pre-order from my local store. 4 boxes, and I'm doing two prereleases this weekend. I hope the showcase odds will favor me 🤞
Pre release DAAAAAAAAY
Good luck everyone!
This mat is crisp
LGS prerelease went well. Really liking the new deck and token mechanics so far
They’re just sitting there. TAUNTING ME.
Obi Wan Blue/Green/Hero is F U N
I managed to lose track of stuff. Just thought to check now. I've got two options for prereleases and they're each multiple hours away across the city. I think I'll just have to get a box somewhere online.
Legendary results from 4 boxes.
I’ll do my usual spreadsheet-ing soon and see where I’m at. But I have a feeling like set 2, I’m missing a bunch
Yeah, I'm still missing some from set 2
Nice pull!
Thank you!!
My partner and I stayed up so late building decks last night, it was so much fun 😸
What decks did you guys build?
So far we've done Maul green, Padmé yellow, Rex mono Green, Obi Wan mono blue, Nala Se green, and I have Anakin mono red on the way.
Oh and a count dooku blue on the way as well. What do you have in the works @cedar moon ?
Pulled this in the same pack
I'm going to work on a Quinlan Vos deck!
I'll probably work on something else as well, but in the meantime I'll also make some tweaks to my Bo Katan deck
(gotta get Satine in there)
Pulled Satine and Dark side Bo Katan yesterday
Nice!
I've only opened my prerelease kit and six extra packs so far. Another prerelease tonight, then I'll have my four boxes I can start opening
I'm excited to see what you pull. We've opened two so far and will open another 2 tonight
I got a hyperspace Maul in my prerelease kit; that's the best/coolest pull for me so far!
Just got the news from my LGS discord
fr fr (if I may use the parlance of the youths)
Pulled this from my prize packs tonight!
It’s so pretty, blue and silver hues all over
Congrats!!!
Got some solid pulls today actually got two of the ship
Clearly I really need to find a new store to play in now that the move is done 0_0
Message from my lgs 😂
Quite the challenge!
Well poo. Went into the old FLGS at home and it seems that after the first set Universe just flat out died here. There's a little scene way out south of the city, but I'm not sure I want to sit on a train for an hour each way to maybe get games in now and then.
My son and a friend split a few boxes and pulled this one.
Congrats to your son!!
Nice!!!!
I bet that’s gonna be a popular card, and of course all the show cases are worth $$
If I wasn’t planning on actually playing it, I probably would have flipped my Jango showcase for cash
Yeah. They want to sell it, split it and, buy more cards. Lol
From a gameplay perspective, that’s the way to go
YALL
@cedar moon @green skiff @prisma hawk @urban bone
just saw that, that looks cool. I've been wanting to see space heavy decks for a while. A few sentinels for ground by then concentrate on the space arena for everything
Much hype
Yep!
Although red space anakin this set has been fun
Not super excited to see the carbonite packs
I can't disagree more, I can't wait to see what the alternate cards and prestige variants look like
It usually means those packs are significantly more and I’m not down with paying 30’dollars for a pack of cards
My wallet is going to bleed 🙈
They had all sets yesterday at my LGS
That Thrawn art 👀
You don't have to buy them; they're just variants. No unique cards.
Treasure acquired
😮
Their system is so janky lol
I sadly did not have time to play the devs but I hope they keep that option at future cons because my friends who did get to do it had a blast!
Found this on eBay for $130. I really like the art in this one.
Nice!
Anyone else putting the base sets together (1-250ish)? I'm almost finished with TWI and started SOR. I only need 6 more cards for TWI. Then some time after that I'll get to SOG.
I'm not intentionally getting the sets, but I am building a cube for the first 3 sets so I'll probably complete the sets as I make progress with that
Yeah. I didn't plan on it but I went in on a few boxes of TWI and SOR with my sons and ended up having most of the sets. I really like the layout and art of the cards.
FFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
I ran the first and probably only Quinlan Vos fansite in the 00s and this was the only showcase from this set I wanted 😭
Nice!
Gorgeous! 🥹
So my son bought a case of SOR. I split the price with him on three boxes, and he used the final three for an unpaid draft tournament with friends and family at our church. He would keep the cards after the tournament. We received a Showcase Thrawn, one Vader unit, two Luke's (one is hyperspace), four Windu's (one foil, one hyperspace), and the rest of the Legendaries (some receiving one or more), except the one that he wanted most which was Command. It was a pretty good box for him and I. I'm building light side decks to start and he's building dark side decks so it was a good split for us. I have four boys and it's been fun connecting with them over this game with our mutual interests. We play twin suns mostly on the weekend and we started to play one vs one more to tune our decks. It was kind of a bad last year at least for me and this has been refreshing. Also, it's nice to see my kids playing with each other and not be on screens. I think it engages them in developing communication skills, reading instructions, conflict resolution, handling a loss, and good sportsmanship. Also it was a cool moment when my oldest shared his cards and built a deck for one of his younger brothers. I thought I would share how much a game like can make such a positive impact when you least expect it.
I love hearing stories about positive impacts of gaming. I'm glad you guys have been connecting over the game and I'm super jealous of that Thrawn showcase!
Love this
@cedar moon
Hmmmmmmmmm
I just bought 3 starter decks (Spark of the Rebellion, Shadows of the Galaxy, and Twilight) just for the sake of collecting these… now I’m looking at SW:U game nights at local shops 😆
Welcome! 😄
Found somewhere local-ish selling un-used stock of the pre-release kit for Twilight of the Republic and grabbed one. I seem to have pulled really high cost cards almost across the board, and also all my tokens are clones. Would have been a poor pull at an event.
How popular is this game?
Seems very popular. Difficult to get cards sometimes.
TCG Player is a pretty decent source. I’ve also had luck on Amazon… although I’d prefer a local shop, but to your point- stock at shops is limited
Stock really hasn't been an issue in quite a while.
at least not in the States; can't speak for across the pond.
Stores have been selling booster boxes for $80
Spark of Rebellion may be the hardest to find, but it's still pretty available.
Set 4, Jump to Lightspeed, comes out next weekend in prerelease, so it's actually a really great time to get into the game!
And I’m not buying any of it
No LGS. Anymore. Closest one is 45 minutes away
Come visit. I've got like 6 within that distance
I found a place almist two hours away that does prerelease events but it's run by a dude banned from Age of Sigmar events worldwide for handling losses by getting naked so... I may also buy no cards.
Yikes on bikes
He's been a problem for decades. When I heard it happened from a country away I knew who it was instantly.
Turns out there was a different place doing it also almost two hours away, I went there, bombed my first round, rebuilt the deck on the advice of my opponant, then went 2-1 for both following rounds and came joint 2nd out of 12, with both me and the other guy in 2nd only losing to the eventual winner.
My second round second game nearly went to time, and the other player scooped after doing maths and realising they couldn't kill me before deployed Vader leader swung again.
I'm sad to not have been in this set. I was so looking forward to space stuff. Ah well.
It’s such a bummer the “L” is totally missing from LGS for you. I guess you’ll just have to move to LA where the only problem you’ll have is what night NOT to game on! 😄
My JTL weekend (Friday night, Saturday afternoon) went really well and was tons of fun. Really digging the new pilot dynamic. Almost feels like a fresh new game all over again. Can’t wait to rebuild some of my other decks!
we're doing another prerelease tomorrow
Some of my weekend JTL highlights
We have a third and final on Wednesday which is the usual SWU Night at my favorite LGS.
Nice!
I thought about going today but it's likely we'll do another prelease at my normal place next monday as well
well, if we have enough kits left over
but that's been the pattern since set 1
we can karabast at some point 👀
And just a heads-up for those you who aren’t aware: Carbonite packs (boosters and boxes) will not be reprinted! So once the first orders of the first run are gone, they’re GONE. This could mean these specific Prestige cards may never be available again.
I'm buying 1 carbonite pack tomorrow and then I'll seek out the specific cards I want.
Funnily enough it seems the pro strat is to go heavy sentinel in space and then just thow your commander onto a ground vehicle as pilot and swing for victory.
I actually sat down and re-thought this and I've managed to make a decent deck that doesn't rely too much on spawning B1s. Shame I missed this set being "live".
My oldest son and I pulled this in our JTL case (split the cost). Learning the new set this weekend with my boys.
A great pull. I like Vader as a leader.
Especially once I realised he can pilot a ground vehicle to pop bonus TIEs for his escorts.
[pasodjfa[psdifjaopsdifja[opsedi;lfjnaeos[dil;gjknaesf
My son is using him right for his current deck. I'm trying to build a Luke deck.
I found another store about an hour away that apparently had their prerelease stuff get returned to sender so they might be running a late one this week.
I played my first games of this yesterday with my friend. He absolutely crushed me on every game, haha
I'm bringing a deck to Japan.
also, do you need cards? I probably have some extras with your name on them
I was speaking to my other friend about playing some games in Japan in the evenings. I am planning on building a deck (will probably be an extremely terrible deck) but I shall bring it and we can play.
sweeeeeet
Thankfully one of my few saving graces is that I don't mind losing at games
I am going just build a deck in the field, keep playing until I find one that doesn't cause me to lose constantly, hehe
I lose at this game constantly lmao
I should be better at for how much I play
but whatever, I still have fun
What do you run atm?
I haven't built a JTL deck yet so I still have my Quinlan with Tarkintown and my blue Bo-Katan mando deck
Bo is not meta in any way shape or form but it's a fun deck
Which release was Quinlan and Bo in?
Quinlan is Twighlight of the Republic and Bo is Shadows of the Galaxy
I may need to set a game night to finally learn how to play it. The girl that works on my LGS offer to teach me. Also, she doesn’t help my wallet. I was not thinking of getting the new set until she started showing me the cards. Now I’m mostly for the collection. 😂
Also, one of her coworkers got this card. They all are super excited about it.
At least I can’t complain. Got most of the ones I wanted in that box.
oooooh, nice hyperspace Phantom II!
It’s all about the pictures for me, until I learn how to play. 😂
For me it is the characters. I really want to try and build a deck that is 100% mandalorians
3/4 of my cards will cost at least 78 resources to play due to penalties, lol
It’s almost possible now.
I’ve been trying to put up Serialized Prestige Cards (I have 5 total) in trade for that 😂
That’s how I initially got hooked.. the artwork and characters. I dropped into my local shop and have played twice… it’s a lot to learn but it’s really fun.
What do people use for tokens? You don't seem to be able to buy token cards on their own, and some of the ones used, like battle droids or clone troopers, come in 2-3 each time, and you get like 1 per booster pack I don't know how people have enough.
You can use anything for tokens. We've used clone and droid mini figures, LEGOs. I think most get whole boxes and enough tokens come in those. If you wanted fancy versions, you can look up cool tokens people make on Etsy
If you need some I will bring you some
Or just ask literally any player who's been playing for a bit and they will drown you in spare bases
You can also get some in the starter decks, too.
Thanks
I am 3D printing my own damage tokens so maybe I will make some of the other ones too
It's easier to search for the bases and just check which ones are which token.
Also as long as you have one reference card then you can just put whatever onto the table. Most people seem to have splurged on nice lasercut shield tokens on this side of the world, for example.
bases can be either token from the set
so each common base has four variants: normal/token 1, normal/token 2, hyperspace/token 1, hyperspace/token 2
I completely did not notice that. Every duplicate base I've pulled has just been the same token.
I've been trying to keep 2 of each variant 😂
I'll be playing with a starter deck at celebration so be gentle.
I am starting to build a deck though, but it wont be ready by then
I will probably bring starter decks also actually
I'll be bringing 2 so anyone else who wants to play can
I have the Twilight of the Republic
all right cool. I'll bring not those
I didn't buy them yet, but I'll probably grab the Jump to Lightspeed spotlight decks
Those are fun because they also come with a booster pack 😍
ok ok ok, so hear me out: My husband plays SWU, but I've never played a CCG before. Like ever.
But we were at the game shop, and there it was, in all of its glory:
So then I'm like, ok. Technically, these sleeves make every card into an Ackbar. So I could play a game of only Ackbars.
And decided this was a great excuse to make a completely Ackbar themed deck and tokens, because I love Ackbar and making things and appealing to my inner troll nature:
So now we're like, I dunno. 3 weeks in.
I've raided my husband's collection for all of his extra Ackbars. I've designed, lasercut, and painted custom flan themed tokens. My deckbox is themed with a Magnitude print, I've got an awesome Ackbar shirt to wear, and now I'm programming a custom Arduino score counter that displays tiny Ackbars on a tiny OLED screen:
Meanwhile... I STILL DON'T KNOW HOW TO PLAY SWU.
So what I'm trying to say is... halp? >.>
I've tried playing some games on Force Table, and I still have no idea what I'm doing. Any tips on how to not completely suck at this game?
I love you @median briar
I think you have already won TBH.
holy shit
@cedar moon
I saw the leak yesterday 🙈
please give me a Quinlan unit card 🙏
I'm all in on Thrawn this set but next set I will likely be all in on Quin (again)
Baylan and Nightmothers!!
I do hope we get enough cards for a cool nightsister deck also
thank the maker
maybe now the price of my cad bane showcase will go up
since at least some folks running cunning decks will swap to cad next lol
Get an Ackbar showcase leader, use the sleeves and build a deck!
When Jango is in like 95% of the decks at regionals 🤷🏻♂️ But honestly screw TDR lol
Dammit, Jango was the leader for my mando deck build as he is only leader that I have that comes close to a mando
I can see what set 2 leaders I might still have for
BY THE FORCE!
The Trilla one is pretty cool
VECTORRRRR
Also looks like we may only be getting 4 THR cards but it's worded in a way that it could be more, just from other novels
👀
https://melee.gg/Decklist/View/e1bb8b4a-14c2-4f67-aff6-b2d1016baf02 wild cheap deck. Went 22nd in the Lille tournament. Costs less than €5 to buy the whole thing.
Forgot to post. Look what my LGS manager gifted me.
The Ghost is a truly wonderful ship, and that combo makes it damn nasty.
YES
https://starwarsunlimited.com/articles/the-stuff-of-legends I know who my leader is going to be in a force build, lol
Mono-aspect leader sounds like a real questionable choice, but I want to see how they work it.
It's really powerful though
I've been away. My phone died and I couldn't find my code to get back into discord once I got it fixed. Anyways. My son and I ordered a case of LOTF. Also I got news about my showcases getting graded.
Love it
OMGoodness!!! I NEED!!!!! 😻😻😻
My oldest just ran into my room to show me. He said it would work for one of his decks.
I did and I'm going to spend so much money getting a showcase
Yeah that's going to drop fast and be a Must Kill target. Otherwise she'll dominate you.
You're giving up a lot of flexibility for that power, and it relies on you having units that can kill without dying that fit into just two aspects. It's going to be real interesting to see what people manage to make from it.
The new Kanan leader seems ok, but only if you build a spectre deck
Third sister seems like she has a cool ability
Qui-gon looks pretty decent too
tbh I stopped looking at leaders once they dropped Avar
Yeah I feel that getting a force token every phase puts her up top
she will be slow to flip, but green has some ramp options
Yeah defo a late game unit
I tested Avar double green with a friend and she was FUN. very satisfying plays, and I'm hoping there are more green cards yet to be revealed that will let her use the force in interesting ways
@green skiff - Are you hitting pre-release in Melbourne?
No, I actually haven’t been playing in a while because of a combination of time and money going elsewhere
I told myself I wasn't gonna buy a book today b/c I want to do a couple prerelease events, but that turned out to be a lie.
but I will still be doing a couple prerelease events
Hit one prerelease here that ended up being run with whatever boxes of boosters it was possible to get from other stores. Seems like distribution is terrible here compared to the UK. On the plus side I pulled my first showcase. Snoke is even playable, which is nice.
Looks like the kits have arrived, along with some more prize material, and we can have another event on Thursday! Hurrah!
That's good!
I did 4 prereleases over 5 days and apparently now spouse and I will be playing a round of sealed limited with our prize packs lol
Nice.
Turns out the original gaming shop in the city that didn't bother with the game is also running a pre-release this weekend, and I can actually get there.
I am probably not going to, because three in one week is too many.
Lol, the bad shop has not gotten stock yet and has had to cancel their pre-release. Oh well.
My son and I split another case of LOF. We pretty much got the whole base set and all of the legendaries except one, plus the Kylo Ren showcase. He went to the Sector Qualifier w/ VIP that happened to be near our house. He seemed to have a good time with his friends. One friend made it to the second day and lost to YouTuber Random NumberGaming. I play casual with my sons and don't have enough time to keep up with something like a tournament.
Yeah I'm the same way. I play at weeklies and do store showdowns but I'm just there to have fun
Though I may try a PQ since we have 2 near us this time
I feel like it would be a good learning experience
The store I have played at a couple of times is getting a PQ, which given how small the comunity is here seems like it'll be a great way to skip day 1 if you did want to progress.
I'll just head along for the participation prizes.
Might have gone a little crazy again for LOF like I did with JTL 😬
On the other hand, you'll have a real nice display so who is to say what's crazy?
My Qui Gon and Kit Fisto are missing. 😆
I’m still on the hunt for Avar, but I got a Grogu Legendary today on a pack
What are the card protectors called? I feel like I should invest in a few for the occasional good pulls I get.
I have 2 versions
Thanks, I will see what's available over here.
No legendary this time, but happy I got the daughter
Nice! I still need more of her for my Avar deck
If I get extras, I’ll send them your way
I pulled that in my second pre-release, and played her wrong the first time. Then I realised what she actually does and it was wild.
"I hit your base for one" "Cool, I use the force, heal for two. My activation, I swing with a Jedi, regain the force. Your activation".
In one round I managed to use Kelleran Beq to pop Yoda, while having The Daughter out. Was basically a scoop for my opponant.
That’s awesome
Yeah, this set has some great interactions like that. Mace Windu and Kellern Beq is very very fun too.
Hey- sorry for the delay- I use these;

No problem, thanks for following up.
I’d like to get started playing. I’ve seen a good bit of advice from other sites recommending one should start with Spark of the Rebellion. Do you all agree with that? Or should I go for one of the newer releases? Thanks!
A new starter set called Battle of Hoth is coming soon, and that will be a great place to start!
If you don't want to wait I'd look at any of the starter sets or spotlight decks. The starter set for spark has Luke and Vader (classic), but set rotation kicks in soon, so Spark of Rebellion, Shadows of the Galaxy, and Twilight of the Republic will no longer be legal in the standard format.
Personally I think Jump to Lightspeed (set 4) is a ton of fun, and the spotlight decks (prebuilt decks) are Han and Boba Fetr, and each come with a booster pack, which is fun
Also recommend seeing if any game or comic stores near you host weekly play. The community is generally pretty great and you will likely find friendly folks willing to teach you the rules and give you their extra common/uncommon cards!
Feel free to ping me with specific questions, I love this game and want to see it thrive!
I was concerned about buying that old set for that reason. And while I want to play with my son truth be told I will probably end up at my local game store. There is a big one right near me and they play Unlimited every Thursday night. Thanks for the advice!
Yeah, jumping into weeklies is really the best way to get into the game imho!
100% this. Get into the local community and you will find they will throw old cards at you to help you get upto speed.
Or even new cards in some cases. There's a couple that play in the place that's near-ish to me and they pool their stuff so at the second pre-release event they were wandering around distributing their duplicate leaders to people.
Did not know they were selling older sets at Target! Thought it was just the new one.
They had Twilight of the Republic and Jump to Lightspeed at my target. I didn’t get a chance to go to my game store yet but couldn’t resist buying a pack for fun. I got a hyperspace Poe card for my first leader!
They have the current and last set.
Twi is two sets ago. Current is LOF, last set is JTL
Im looking to get out of the hobby and to get rid of my stuff. I have complete sets for the first 3 set and bought a box of the jedi set plus tons of commons and uncommons. Any one have any idea what a good price would be
plug the rares and legendaries into TCGPlayer
^ Thats the only way you're going to come close to finding a price.
I have answers: SOR 198.67 SOG: 125.91
Man...those sets did NOT age well...holy crap.
Shadows that doesn't surprise me. The only cards that regularly see play from that set are Krayt, Poe, and timely intervention
That Spark price seems low to me though
... But apparently prices have really bottomed out on what used to be the top cards
Vader is at 17, slb around 10, Avenger around 10
Im going to check twilight later ill let you all know how it comes out
I assume that price is just for 1 of each and not a full playset though
3 Lukes will run you $75
Set rotation kicks in after this current set, but people still run a lot of Spark cards regularly
Yes one of each. I dont really have time to find a community near by to play on a regular basis but obviously a huge fan so it was mostly about collecting but now i need the money for other things
Twilight is rough…67.74
OOF
Did the math on everything i have it comes out around 600
I am happy I didn't get into this for the money.
I am actually excited about this--it's a great deal for 8 booster packs!
I think we're going to try to do a chaos limited night with these at my LGS
Oh absolutely
THAT'S SUCH A GOOD IDEA, I'm gonna suggest that at my lgs
We are drafting Spark tonight, I'm so excited
Well he's not Thrawn but...
Nice! I think that's one of the showcases that really stands out this set imo
NICE
Bought some packs from a small shop at a one-day con yesterday and pulled a fistfull of useful uncommons and a foil Oggdo Boggdo. A Good Sunday.
Got tickets to Galactics this morning . . . what a mess that was lol
I hope you have fun! Did you go last year? My husband and I did; we had a blast but it was very physically exhausting lol. We played super sealed events each day. I think we're going to skip it this year.
In favor of trying to save for star wars celebration
No, we didn't go last year. And almost certainly won't go next year because of Celebration
So is pulling two legendaries in one pack a thing that happens regularly? I just opened a Legends of the Force booster and got a Hyperspace HK-47 and regular The Father in it. The shiny was BD-1.
Three legendaries in this pre-release kit.
I wandered into the central Dublin nerd shop to get four packs to open, and due to the game not taking off in there they've got all their old kits up for sale at 20% off, which means for like four euro more you end up getting six packs + all the other gubbinz. No-brainer deal.
My goal was "maybe I'll pull a HK-47" so I'm pretty happy here.
We played with the new twin suns decks last night and had a blast!! I think they really knocked it out of the park with designing each one. Each deck had old staples as well as fun new rares. and this game lasted longer than our typical twin suns games which we appreciated. Our play group likes longer twin suns games
I haven't had a chance to play with them yet, but I'm excited to!
Sometimes we add 10 health to each base to make the games last longer :)
yeah we've tried the same on occasion as a house rule
He is getting slotted into my Rey deck as soon as I can get my hands on three
