any tips on getting directx 12 working on division 2 with a gtx1080 ti? I have tried many guides online and even clean windows installs and directx12 eventually just crashes to desktop, dx11 is fine with few hiccups here and there, but never crashes to desktop.

I find DirectX 12 renderer uses a lot more ram and vram. Had both showing around or over 9gb in usage and I play on 1080p maxed settings. Pretty stable on my end

I'm also using a gsync monitor and overclocked it to 180Hz. No issues. GPU gets really hot though. Damn founders edition 1080 Ti 😢

gsync shouldn't need disabling but windows 10 game mode is another story. I've had that disabled since it was a thing. Whether it was the simple toggle or had to go as far as registry tweaking

so far its just a toggle, it was on by default in new windows 1903, it basically is to prevent system updates while playing game

regardless this dx12 is broken, no way a brand new installation should make a game crash
there isn't any setting i have wrong or could possibly make wrong.

at one point I do believe game mode was a registry tweak. Also, I'd recommend disabling DirectX 12 renderer. I find it uses way to much vram and ram while it may promise better fps I just don't think it is worth enabling

@lofty heart yes, it works fine for me, if you are using dx12 then game capture will work, otherwise if you are using dx11 use display capture.
using dx12 with display capture is horrible performance for me.
if you use full screen windowed then it should be even easier to capture with capture window, but probs some performance loss.

Hum I think Battleye has some hacky methods now after the last time they had this exact issue (but Microsoft was smart enough to lock those of us with it installed from updating) so its probable. They are just making sure no Kernel hacks are installed, and developer mode is disabled (since then you can inject into the kernel)

I have developer mode enabled, because you know for developing stuff. Almost like people use their computers for more than one reason. Idk why it wouldn’t just hook into windows like antivirus software is supposed to and just watch for suspicious activity/programs.

ADHD me left out half the thought. I remember that Microsoft specifically added standard windows hooks for antiviruses to use instead of fiddling with the kernel in like Vista-era. It makes sense that if Microsoft is complaining about anticheat software doing something similar now, they would add/have added safer ways for them as well.

WTH is wrong with Seeker Mines and Bomber drones not doing what they supposed to do. All the time, throw seeker mines out, and all they do is spin and dont chase targets, and blow up, and the drone, set bomb path, and as soon as I hit the second marker, it just dismantles on me. This is my second Agent I am leveling up, the same thing happened in the first Agents missions, I get in to where the distress signal is, I get hit with a Taser or electric shock it holds me for a long time and I see an enemy floating around in the main room, then it is over and the mission is complete? After multiple tries I had to give up on The Division 2. Tried pretty much every solution online including those who tried to help me here to solve the Crash to Desktop problem. Even moved and reinstalled the game from my HDD to my SSD and keeps crashing every 15min or less. I know other people are facing the same issue so I conclude it`s not a problem with my machine. Hopefully the devs fix it someday.

@fluid willow Do a memtest I had the same problem and after a lot of testing it came down to Memory frequencies and XMP profile triggering Easy ant-cheat. Solution was to lower the mem frequencies in bios from 3000mhz to 2800mhz now I have zero problems. The XMP profile is not 100% stable so it was triggering EAC and corrupting memory values and in turn files as it saved. This is a byproduct of your memory companies binning process as the module barley passed that freq bin for the XMP profile is all.

Can someone tell me why I'm getting stuttering and invisible walls and some areas start low quality and then render properly after a minute or so? I consistently have my screen just completely freeze, sound and all, then unstick 10 seconds later, it's infuriating.
My Specs:
i5-6600 @3.3ghz
16 GB DDR4 RAM
GTX 1060 6GB
Trying to run the game on high at 1080, I shouldn't have any problem doing that with these specs, no idea what's going on. Optimizing with GeForce experience does nothing to fix any of these problems.

Has there been any kind of official word on optimization? I got the game a few days ago and have had zero luck getting it running well. I'm forced to run it on all low settings for it to be somewhat playable, I've done a lot of reading and trying out different fixes but none have made any difference. Then today the game started crashing repeatedly, it won't run longer than a few minutes at a time now. I'm kind of surprised by all this since the first game runs so well, I've always been able to run that one at max settings, and even played it on triples for a while. 2 on the other hand, I have everything on low and it's still a stuttering mess that I can barely get to run at my monitor's refresh rate.

The game was barely tolerable to play at first due to the constant stuttering and other performance issues, but now it's quite literally unplayable due to the crashing minutes after launching.

Like I said, I've done a lot of reading into this stuff and I've tried every fix that's been suggested, different game settings, registry entries, even made a .dat file to force the anti cheat to run on a specific core. No effect.
I have it capped at 75fps as that's my monitor's refresh rate, the game runs anywhere from 40-75fps, but it stutters constantly no matter what fps it's at.

That won't work with my monitor, for some reason this monitor hates anything under 70fps, with Freesync on or off. If FS is on, I get black screens if the fps drops too low, if I turn it off anything under 70fps is really choppy.

Hmm, I set the limit to 70fps just to try something out, and it's actually running pretty good now, even with DX12, and mostly high settings it defaulted to.
It's not perfectly smooth, but it's a damn sight better than it was before.

Check your task manager too, a common problem with the game is the 100% cpu bug, which causes all sorts of problems. The bad thing is if you have that bug, there isn't much you can do about it.

Apparently I'm a masochist and can't leave well enough alone, so I've been doing some testing.
DX12 on: Much higher fps, I can run the game at higher settings, and it's very smooth. But, it crashes the game constantly, the longest it'll run is around 20 minutes, but often crashes in less than 5.
DX12 off: Game doesn't crash anymore, but fps is horrible no matter what graphic settings used, the game stutters constantly, it drops below my Freesync range on a regular basis resulting in black screens. With Freesync off it's far worse due to much more stuttering, just without the black screens.
Neither option is really playable.

@desert cargo mine does too, but it's graphics card/driver related. Basically, if your graphics card isn't capable of displaying the game with the currently apply settings, it will revert to a windowed state. I have some of my filters turned way up so the game goes back to windowed every time. I'd rather play it this way though because the in game content looks way better.

tried an array of graphics settings, moving game to SSD, setting cpu affinity for anti cheat
the only thing I've found that seems to help a bit is setting a low FPS cap (30-40) as frame drops seem to prelude the crashes, and if they get frequent, restart my PC because I often get a good period of play after that. The only potential fix I have found which I haven't tried is installing the game on the same drive as windows, which isn't physically possible for me as win is on a 70gb partitiion

the real laptop location: if you look at the door with the diamond through it, turn right, and go along the gantry, near the other wall is a desk with a similar looking laptop to the others you'll have done... walk up to it and you'll see you can interact with it

it doesnt hurt to do a reset on your router at least once a week to keep all connections fresh and running smoothly. also it give the router a chance to get any updates from your ISP and install them

I had it on an HDD and experienced the exact problem they did until moving it to an SSD (as I already mentioned). It's certainly possible their problem is the RAM, but it's also possible from personal experience it's the drive

The 5th stage for the gunner specialization seems to be bugged. I have taken all Bassiliks armour off multiple times on multiple difficulty levels but never get the credit for it. Is there a specific gun i must use or something that isnt listed on the requirements. I use a AR each time

@languid fable I found the trick.. when kill off the leg protection, he needs to knee down each time. I actually had it visually removed, but he was going down on the knee only once. After i let him knee 2x, it was done.

We had 3 of us while doing the Basilisk. There is a visual bug with his armor. When it was completely broken for 2 of us, the third still saw a leg piece on. He shot the last armor piece he saw off and it worked.

Same. Sometimes damage will only be applied to the enemy a good half second after shooting. Very jarring feeling and makes me stop playing. Started as soon as TU4 was released.

I haven't done IT work in almost fifteen years, but priority and affinity are set via Windows Task Manager. I could totally be wrong though. I'm using GeForce NOW Beta and well, my frame rate fluctuates pretty badly sometimes.

I think it might be your RAM/GPU.
My rig isn't even that modern, and I manage running it with GeForce NOW Beta, but I still get frame drops.
So aside the low GPU /sys RAM, it might be server load.
Lots of people complaining of major lag.

If you have a really high-end network connection 50Mbps+, GFN can help, but by how much I can't be certain. (My PC doesn't even have 1GB vid memory, and it's like five years old. It's a miracle I can even launch the game!) My best advice would be to see what components you can upgrade to meet recommended spec for TD2.

btw if you have 2 UPlay accounts like me (one doesn't have TD2 on it) and want to redeem the loot on the other account, you have to unlink your Twitch from your account settings on account.ubisoft.com and not from anywhere else, maybe it's worth a shot for your issue

On lvl 30 in district union stronghold almost at the end. You need to secure the garage. When all npc are dead it still says secure area and cant get past it. Log out and in, restart, rebooting game + ps. Wont work always stuck in same part @mortal mirage

What am I don't wrong? The weekly mission list shows to clear out the Jefferson Plaza before going to the Capitol Building and then the Tidal Basin. I've completed the Jefferson Plaza 3 times on various levels from Normal, Hard and Challenge, but the game won't allow me to move on to the Capitol Building. It keeps showing that I need to clear out the Jefferson Plaza and it's pizzing me off!!!
Guess I'll ask somewhere else. Doesn't appear to be much activity in here atm. 😄

@languid nymph Did you figure it out? Are you playing Jefferson Plaza on invaded (you can switch it, sometimes too easily) and do you have a high enough gear score for Capitol Building? If it is literally glitched you can join on someone who is able to start the mission and then just walk in and it will start anyways.

Thanks for the feedback. My gear is right at 500 right now. I've played through all of these on a daily basis, but today was strange. I ended up rebooting and it worked. Hell, maybe I was in a session for too long. I only played for about 15 hours today. LOL!

What GPU are you running? Double check the monitor settings using the monitor controls on the monitor to see if IT needs to be set to 144 Hz. If that is properly set check driver settings.

@stray path Yeah, it does seem that some bugs are persistant - I'm still getting the 'You cannot pick up your signature ammo' bug, eventhough that one was specifically 'fixed' last patch. Also I haven't been able to get the blueprint for the Liberty gun ... I've gotten all the other components just fine, but the Blueprint never dropped and does not seem to want to either ...

I got that blueprint last night, it only drops if you play the non-invaded version of the mission as only Junior drops it (you have 3 named enemies in the invaded version instead of 1)

Yeah, I've been playing the non invaded version over and over, trying to get it to drop, but there's nothing but "normal" loot every time around. I've tried it at Normal, Hard, Challenge but also no change. I've tried it in my session and I've tried joining others in their session to see if that had any impact - still no blueprint

I contacted support and they've told me to send in screenshots of the various components in my inventory and a shot of my workbench showing that that blueprint is not there. They also asked me to send in a video of me killing Junior, but I don't know how they want me to do that, seeing as their form only allows for 10 mb of attachments 😉
So I've sent them all the screenshots they wanted as well as an additional one showing a kill shot of Junior and the loot he dropped. Still waiting for them to get back to me though.

Whats the issue with Demolistionist Specialty ammo, cannot pick it up, have ZERO ammo, and cannot pick ANY up, sometimes I can pick it up, and sometimes I cant. UBISOFT, fix it asap. I dont seem to have this issue with any other specialization only with the Demolitionist.

it's a random issue affecting all classes, I read logging out and logging back in is a workaround in the meantime
same thing for some triggers not occurring during missions, both bugs appeared in TU4, no choice but to leave the area and restart the mission

Does anyone know a workaround for not being able to open up the key boxes in the raid? We were raiding with a friend and he could not open up the key boxes. They were closed and pressing F did nothing

Anyone else finding the game quite buggy right now? Getting one shot off red bars on hard mode, hive not reviving, sometimes being outright killed for no apparent reason, a friend couldn't change load outs, a lot of weird crap

Is it only who has there FPS stuck at 57 even if the settings are low, v-synk of both in game and controll panel and with no fps limit?

@fringe kite possibly you're hitting the limit of what your GPU can do
i think you're experiencing GPU bottlenecking and you'd probably get better results with a stronger GPU
my brother's rig does a steady 70 fps, he's running an i7-5820K, 8GB ram and a GTX 960 4GB
I get 45 fps in combat with an i5-2400, 8gb RAM and a GTX 1060 3GB
my suggestion, if you could afford it, would be to consider going to a 1660 Ti 6GB, or else wait a few weeks for Nvidia's super cards to drive the prices down a little

@stray path I understand why you would think so but the thing is that i tryed to benchmark it on different settings. On low settings my GPU was operatiing on 60%+ and CPU somewhere 50% with that in mind you would assume i should have higher FPS since my specs are running 100% right? But no the FPS is still stuck at 57 and when i benchmark it again but this time on medium settings, my rig is operating much harder but still the FPS is 57 and wont go abov 58 fps. So i wouldnt say my GPU is hitting it's limit if it's not reatching the 100% .

I've had lots of crashes, but tonight I've been playing the game in DX12 fullscreen with no hitch. turns out the game needs 10GB or virtual memory, even if you have plenty of free RAM (more than 10GB in my case)

Yesterday my PC crashed randomly while playing TD2. The game has started having random FPS drops after the crash. All of my other games run smoothly but TD2 stutters really bad., Also I had no FPS problems before and the game ran at stable 75FPS. It seems like my RAM is 96% in use when playing Division 2.

that's bad, get additional RAM or close background programs, because it could mean your system started using your pagefile because you ran out of RAM, thus slowing down your system, you could put your pagefile on an SSD too

Yeah maybe I should just invest 50€ and buy 8gb more ram. The games just need mire ram these days :(

Windows 10 + TD2 takes about 12gigs depending on background processes.

I can confirm TD2 takes around 12GB of RAM with Chrome and other things open on Win10, plus 10GB of virtual memory to avoid some crashes

I think you might get away with 8GB total on a win 7 machine with a relatively clean boot, but not 8 or 10. It won't run very well anyways.
I'm playing it at 4k Ultra and it sounds pretty much the same as everyone else is seeing.

True, but it has more background process running out of he box. In general. Stuff like Skype, one drive, your phone, edge, cortana etc etc.

I’ve been having issues with certain audio dropping out frequently, like gunshots being completely gone for a few minutes as well as music cutouts, no sound when looting sometimes and enemies not having any footsteps

Sometimes I get similar visual issues. I'll be walking around and the radar will be red and I don't see anybody and suddenly I'm losing health and then when I die there is a huge group of bad guys standing all around me

Hey uhh.. this might just be me but uhh... Im having this tiny problem with my game.
You know how you mouse over a mission and you get some kind of voice over? yea.. that stopped working.
And I know most people wouldn't see that as a glitch, since many people hate the mission voice over. But It extends a bit farther then that. Any dialog spoken by the drone operator in any mission doesnt seem to show her subtitles. I tried to look on the reddit and other places but no one's had that problem, so.. Any advice? anyone?

Anybody having trouble using the Digital Scope for Sharpshooter? I noticed that when I pop out of cover, ADS, take a shot, and go back into cover the game crashes.

had a control point that wouldn't flip. cleared enemies, never get 'F' to fire flare. then a friendly group arrives, and game says they're taking over. nothing happens.
