This has probably been asked a million times. I want to get into game developing but no idea where to start or best place to. I know coding would be good but what's a good place to learn a coding language that is most commonly used in game dev or easiest to learn for first timer that actually explains how things work and what things do not just tell you "do this here" or "change these numbers and hit run".

I have looked at many online course websites and they all kind of the same way nothing really explains it that well for me

I know roughly an end goal project but I need the skills to get there first.

Well it depends what you want to use, just exploring the interface of whatever you choose to use, trying to code things, looking up answers when you get stuck, and continuing to try, this goes for practically every game engine, and even just general coding as a whole, there is no "watch this tutorial and learn how to code", the best way to learn for the majority of people, is experimentation, it mightn't be the fastest way, but it's the most assured way to get the actual skills you want for what you are doing, doing courses won't be targeted, they'll teach you everything they can, even things you never need to know for your case, if you want to know everything possible, they are decent, if you want to just limit to what you actually want to know, for what you are interested in doing, experimentation is the best way to go.
