#the meaning of life and other such nonsense

Cool hatching! Gives a lot of texture & detail to the piece, looks neat
Ohhhh penitente, que osas venturarte en tierra santa
Thank you! I like messing around with that sorta thing. It's not yet close to the German expressionism pieces that I often use for inspiration, but for now it works well enough for me.
I'm honored that you've even commented on one of my pieces :0
It is great, you should feel honored in the fact that u good
You're just one of my three favorite artists here and you're insanely skilled imo
same
While this isn't typically the result of my line shading, the more fluid and round lines I used this time are probably the reason it looks that way. Woodgrain is one of my favorite textures to draw and to look at, so I'm not complaining. :]
A 4x4" Elphelt doodle I did a while back
For something that took me about 10 minutes in all, I'm surprised it doesn't look absolutely appalling
Should I use watercolor with this piece, or leave it be as a pen-only piece?
you mean elphelt
Shoot you're right
What should I draw next... π€

When studying anatomy and muscle structure, what sort of resources do all of you use?
line-of-action (.com) is good for learning to do quick poses from photos. You can also take the mode where it's not auto timed & draw at your own pace from the references. Both nude & clothed models, so you can choose what applies to you better
I haven't used it in a while & honestly I'm not that great with anatomy or muscle structure yet. Maybe having some training / practice sessions would be good
Also if you have the chance, doing life drawing lessons or courses would be good. Or just look at the people around you & draw them quickly too, that's one way to hone quick drawing skills. You can always add more on top of quick sketches
- I like this. Your hatching style is really cool. You said above that it's meant to replicate the look of a wooden grain / texture? I can see that, very nice :D
It's not really meant to replicate that texture, but I do like drawing that kinda texture so it makes it easy for me.
Oh yeah, fair!
Do you use ink fineliners or such + watercolours with the coloured one? Or how do you usually work on the lineart
I'm not sure what an ink fineliner is (I've barely taken any actual classes on art) but I usually just use pencil and then Faber Castelle pens
I tend to use whatever's available to me, not really one to look at art supply labels
I think the faber castelle pens are either small nib markers or fineliners tbf
Unless it's a brush tip pen
Fineliner just means that the pen is made for making fine lines lol, they usually got sizes in millimetres
Faber Castelle have special brush pens
Faber Castelle pens use mm yeah
You don't need to care about the branding or labelling for them much to be honest. As long as you enjoy the process or get out what you wanted to create. I just like hearing & reading & seeing how other creatives make their creations and sometimes hear the 'why' of it too, though personally I just draw things because I like drawing, it doesn't always have a big meaning or purpose to it
While on one hand I appreciate deep meaning in art, I oftentimes feel like that sorta thing can feel very pretentious when explained. I draw to express myself and just let people interpret things the way they want to. As for my process, there wasn't really any for the above piece, considering it was a very small one with very little forethought other than "Steam engine"
If all important artists have something in common is how they don't speak about the meaning of their art
Better that way I'd say
googd
Googd
Might be a little while until the next piece while I try to focus on my writing
A rare attempt at digital art
Cool, very neon
Honestly smoke is such a fun thing to draw
Working on someone's Cyberpunk character
Beep boop
ELPHELT VALENTINE
Where is the finished product
Dani is fine, in good health and working on a big project.
3vil released an official statement on reddit <t:1720117604:R>
I never ended up doing anything more with that doodle, considering it was a doodle in watercolor class
I might draw some GGS characters again soon though
WIP
holy fuck its bmw
That's a new one lol
That's what I call a man of his words
Though, he looks too manly
I think the mouth Could be smaller then
Maybe the nose could be a little less pronounced
Thanks
This is my personal favorite so far
Yea it's awesome
I think you're right, I didn't really think of that as a possible fix actually π€
One day I might be skilled enough to take commissions lol
Maybe try taking some free offers as a practice how to handle a commission or something
Brisket π
brisket needs to be more feminine
I mean if that's all it takes I've been doing that for years
Working on a full body drawing
Is the reason for this phrasing, is because you feel you're not skilled enough to make satisfying products?
Yes, that's what I meant.
What about Jerma
Reminds me of Jerma
I had to look up what he looks like cause it's been too long since I've seen him lol
Not much time to draw these past couple weeks cause of college so all I've got is this little doodle
Also did a little cartoon man a while back and didn't post
The paladin on the horizon has only one goal: to preserve life in all it's forms.
πfire stuff u posting man
π thanks man, I've been pretty uncertain about my art as of late since I've tried learning digital art
Very nice
What u usibg?
Procreate
Still don't quite know how to do half the things I see people in their digital art, let alone execute it. Still, it's been fun!
Oh, me too
(idk how to use procreate much either)
And I have been using it since 2018
I mean you're still a total wizard with it though
I've been following your thread for a while now, you've got some amazing stuff. Those videos have also helped a ton tbh
This one's gonna take a couple days tbh
Might leave it here
They say understanding how to replicate a style is vital to cartoon work
