to be completely fair i haven't finished the game yet nor did i explore that much (i am doing that slowly but surely) so my opinions are going to be really subjective

the positives

  • the stealth in pre-alpha is unlike any stealth ever in the hello neighbor franchise. i found sneaking in and out extremely fun and just generally it's just built so well into the game
  • nikita is right when he said to explore the game yourself and not seek for answers from somebody else. it genuinely makes the game way more interesting and honestly if you're gonna ask someone how to achieve a certain thing, then what's the point of you playing the game at all
  • this is debated but i would say the ai is better in this build compared to prototype 3. sure, it's buggy but i found it more complex and fun, although it is annoying sometimes which i'll talk about
  • the map is obviously better however that's not as major of a thing but it's still amazing
  • the objective system was pretty good too. it helped me understand what i'm "supposed" to do. i know the point of the game is to just play around and explore yourself until you achieve something but without the objective system it'd be pretty much impossible to complete the pre alpha

there's probably more good stuff about this build than i remember and if i do i'll add it into this list

the negatives

  • so i as i said the ai was sometimes annoying, like for example when jacob would just come at you for no reason and start throwing things at you. nobody understood why that was the case until iirc nikita said that they hate(?) almira because she's a GA employee. after that has been said it's more understandable but gameplay-wise it can feel annoying especially when you havent done anything bad to them
  • the lag was BY FAR my biggest issue with the game. i believe it comes from the TONS of foliage in the map and im pretty sure others have pointed that out too so i hope they really work better on optimization in the next build

i'll be sending the rest here because of the message limit

  • the guest is also a big annoyance in the game. i just don't like how he works at all. he feels very much like in hn2 where he's just there to get you if you go too far from the map and i was hoping he'd be more connected to the whole game rather than just roaming in the forest, waiting to get you. basically nobody goes into the forest merely to just not have to deal with the guy and he's pretty merciless too. when he catches you he runs too fast and just kills you not long after. i get why he now kills in the game but it feels interrupting to my gameplay. im pretty sure there would be a better way to fix the issue of him dragging you deep in the forest and throwing you in a building (in prototype 3) and i dont think killing is the right way
the guest overall should be more of a fun and creepy character that you'd wanna actually encounter instead of just being an annoyance for most of the time

more positive things

  • yeah so i forgot to mention it in the positives list but i really like how items like the crowbar were nerfed. breaking doors was way too easy in the previous builds and now that the doors are stronger it feels good to either have to go find more items or a completely different entrance. it should stay stay like that in my opinion
  • i like the addition of fall damage because once the player would get their desired item they'd just jump off from the building and walk away. fall damage forces you to sneak out of the house instead of just jumping off which adds more to the stealth and makes the game genuinely fun

the objective system

  • in the grand scheme of things i like it. without it you wouldnt be able to beat pre alpha.
  • one thing that's bitter however is that it seems like the objective system was not even supposed to be a thing in hello neighbor 3 before the pre alpha came out. it feels more like a result of people's confusion in prototype 3. i think the objective system just straight up tells you what to do which is not as fun as you having to explore things on your own. in my opinion keep the notes because it's information that you gathered yourself and it's enough to help you understand what youre supposed to do instead of just telling you what to do straight up. that way gathering information/notes is gonna feel more rewarding and less guided.
i've always seen hello neighbor 3 as a game that doesn't give you any direction, so you have to find things out on your own and explore the world around you. the objective system is quite the opposite of that because it guides you and tells you what to do and where to do

to wrap things up, in my subjective opinion, maybe remove the objective system but keep the notes. the notes are a result of your exploration which is why its information that should be preserved. prototype 3 had basically no hints, and pre alpha had just too many.
using notes will help you and guide you, which is the same thing the objective system does, however the notes you find are just a result of your own independent searching.

overall i'd say this build has more pros than cons. im really enjoying it and all the negatives are pretty minor things compared to the lag which has been my main issue

#

i would've played the game a lot more if it had been optimized better and i would have more to say in my feedback but the lag just limits me

#
  • additionally I would love to see more cool mechanics brought back from the previous hello neighbor games like for example the cameras.
some people mentioned the camera system from the hello neighbor 2 alphas and itd be cool to have it in hello neighbor 3 to observe the characters, it would be quite interesting
#

thats pretty much all i have to say and if there's gonna be more, i'll add it in this forum

#

chasing

  • so i personally think the stealth is the best from all of the hn games ever but when it comes to chasing its just really janky.
when im in someone’s house and an npc spots me, its basically game over. there is almost no way to escape them as the houses are claustrophobically tight and there are a lot of things in your way when you run. the npcs are just TOO fast for you to like lock in and try escaping or hiding
i have no issues with them walking through doors because as far as i know that’s being fixed/is fixed in the next build

# undone hawk to be completely fair i haven't finished the game yet nor did i explore that muc...

i probably shouldve been more clear about the AI part
in some cases its better than prototype 3 while also having its flaws
in a way i cant explain, it just feels better, but they also should be less aggressive and start walking outside more. i havent even seen majority of npcs being outside other than janusz and jacob

if they stay aggressive then AT LEAST somehow make us understand why theyre aggressive. i didnt know what jacob wanted from me until nikita himself said it

alright im switching up on the ai

the more i played pre alpha, the more i just started to dislike the ai of this build. especially the historian since she's really buggy. im not gonna say anything about the characters i havent encountered yet but from who i already encountered theyre all buggy and generally janky to some extent
if youre in their house they're going to chase you wherever they are. i dont know why but they can just sense you getting into their property no matter how far they are. the historian was checking up on me very often which was quite annoying and she'd throw me out of the window, and then i die to the fall damage
but thats just one of the many flaws i found. another thing i didnt like was merely how fast they are. there's not a lot of running space when you're in a house and trying to escape them is really difficult. theyll most likely catch you and throw you out themselves
theres still a lot to say about it but im pretty sure others said all the issues themselves and i hope the ai gets fixed in alpha 1

Hoping it gets better in future builds

#

the ai works the same outside and inside which i dont like

#

they have the same speed and most of the time they find you even if you hide somewhere or in a box

#

i dont even care how brutal they are i just want them to operate differently when in a building

#

Lol I agree, I was just making a joke out of it. The AI definitely has a lot of room for improvement

undone hawk
#

their speed is like fine for running outside and stuff

#

theres a lot of space outside but its different when indoors

#

so i think they should make the ai work differently indoors it seems like it just works the same way

i really didnt enjoy the game since i got to the amusement park

#

its just so hard to go through it and explore

#

(which is the premise of the game)

#

most of the area is just dangerous you need to be in a certain spot to be illuminated

#

yet most of the place looks illuminated

#

the guest can just kill you there more easily

#

by the time i got to the weather station i was solely focused on winning because exploration was literally not possible
