I really like the pre-alpha, but I didn’t feel like I was solving many actual “puzzles” or character-based challenges. Instead, the gameplay loop felt more like this: I go to a location, wander around the house somewhat aimlessly, eventually find the room I want to reach, then restart. After restarting, I grab the same nearby tools again, return to the same place, use the tools, gain a bit of insight, and then restart once more—repeating the cycle.
I haven’t experienced everything the game has to offer yet, but I think this is how many players (especially YouTubers) will approach it. While it’s true that there are interesting interactions with NPCs and optional behaviors that can help you progress, the main game seems completable without ever engaging with those systems.
Because of that, some players might miss out on what makes the game unique and end up feeling bored, even though there’s actually a lot of depth outside the main path.
