It didn't work
Hey "Homer",
That CreateProcess() returned 11c7 error doesn't mean you have a faulty PC or that you have to wait for Alpha 1! The problem is that Windows security is directly blocking the game from launching.
Since Hello Neighbor 3 is currently just an early "Pre-Alpha" test version, its executable file hasn’t received final security certificates from the developers yet. Because of this, Windows (or your antivirus) flags it as "unknown" and, as a precaution, kills it right at startup. That’s why verifying the files through Steam doesn’t help at all—Steam can see that the file is there, but Windows refuses to let it run.
Here’s a guide on how to fix this in a few seconds:
Option 1: Disable Smart App Control (especially for Windows 10/11)
Click the Start button, type Windows Security, and open it.
In the left menu, click App & browser control.
Find the Smart App Control section and click its settings.
If the feature is turned on, try temporarily switching it to Off.
Option 2: Add an exception to Antivirus / Defender
Open Windows Security again.
Go to the Virus & threat protection section.
Under the heading "Virus & threat protection settings," click Manage settings.
Scroll all the way down to the Exclusions section and click Add or remove exclusions.
Click Add exclusion -> select Folder and locate the entire folder containing the game (according to your screenshot, it is C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\HN3 Playtest).
Option 3: Retrieve the file from quarantine
Just to be sure, check your antivirus (or the Protection History directly in Defender) to see if the system has already deleted the HelloNeighbor3-Win64-Shipping.exe executable file or put it in quarantine.
If so, click on it, select Restore, and choose Allow on device.
Once you’ve done this, try launching the game normally through Steam, and it should start right away. Raven Brooks is waiting!
