Subject: Lack of communication to the community from devs.
Context
Since Halloween 2023 especially, and earlier, we really had radio silence about the game. No plans, no teasers, nothing saying we might get another update. I understand that Hologyrth is working on the game called SAND, which is completely fair and makes sense for the lack of updates. But having no communication between the devs, or any confirmation makes the community rather confused currently since there is nothing reassuring us about the next updates, or the plan for the upcoming, weeks, months, or years. Or if we even getting anything at all.
The community from what I have seen has become confused when to expect another update. From personal experience, I'm like "We would get another update in the next couple months".. those passes by, "What about this next couple months".. those passes by and repeat, and there is really nothing confirming if we are ever getting another one. This is no hate though.
How can it be fixed?
I believe there is plenty of ways to fix such issues, some can be;
1) Chatting within the SN chat. Even such things as "We are working on a update", or "We plan to have an update around insert time" would be great, great to reassure that we might have content arriving soon. Or even talking to the community, and not about updates.
2) Start doing surveys again. Survey forums are a great way to check what the community might want in a enclosed setting. From a developer pov. In fact, even though one idea might have a higher percentage chosen, the second highest voted one can be another idea and so on. Surveys can be on topics, which I wished should've happened on the artstyle change, but too late.
3) Respond to highly accepted feedbacks. Maybe even putting a "
" emoji in the comments would make everyone know that it might be considered and has been seen. Otherwise saying basic ideas that can become something.
4) Post teasers about the game. Such as screenshots, hints, secret events, or clues can get the community on their feet to see what's expected next.
Conclusion
In the end, I think, and many others think communication would be crucial for the game's development. Reassuring as about future content updates, or reassuring us that we are still in contact. Since Halloween 2023 especially, I really did not expect to know what would happen next.
And this post is not hating at all, just giving a problem, and some solutions to it. Secret neighbor was the thing that got myself back in after leaving once HN1 released. Now to see SN in such a state just makes myself feel empty, or unknown what to expect next for SN since it's my most played game now..1.8k hrs.
