and it worked again

Thank you! Any idea of any actions you took before this happened, by the way? It could be of help; for example, this happened to another player after updating the GPU drivers.
No Idea to be frank, I had two DLCS saved wiped after crashing to see if it would resolved it but nope still has the crash issue.
It used to load up fine after post game, but now it crashes for me.
this only happened to me after tryna change the movie (video) files but i dont think thats why it happened just sayin

The game was working just fine, and works on post game till I got back in the game a bit, then decides to crash upon clicking continue
then Hl2 crashes with that logged error displayed.
I got the error after updating all the drivers on my computer, including the graphics card drivers.
Sounds like the game does NOT like updated drivers.

Keep in mind that it is not uncommon for drivers to sometimes "break" things.
Another thing you could try is to roll back drivers or use the Studio driver version instead.

I mean, I do understand that frankly this game can cause crashes. But when starting a new game, it works just fine for some reason.

Oops, the article seems quite outdated; apologies! The easiest way to roll back should be to open your Device Manager > Display adapters > right-click on your GPU > Driver tab > Roll Back Driver (if available).
If it's greyed out, try the official Nvidia site: https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/. Select your GPU (if on a laptop, select Notebooks) and OS version, and hit "Find." From that screen, select Studio drivers; download and install ("clean install" preferably).
Studio drivers tend to be more stable than Game ready. 🙂
But the studio drivers are not designed to play videogames, only studio like edit clips etc.. Probably I will lost fps, or not?

The game ready one offers more FPS in favor. HL2 for mine gets up to 125FPS caps.

That is not really true.
They are generally the same drivers. Studio drivers, however, are stable drivers that have spent more time in testing and tend to be less buggy, which is why it is recommended for certain professionals.
Game drivers offer small tweaks and hotfixes, most commonly for games that have just been released.
Since those drivers may be more stable, they could potentially provide us with an answer on what may be the culprit for those crashes! You could easy roll back to the latest Game Ready drivers if it still doesn't work. 🙂
I mean saves can break if updated which is unusual for this game to be honest but yknow.
Of course, this is uncommon, but since it was mentioned that the issue took place after a GPU driver update, it's important to recommend this as a potential step to take while we investigate further.

The issue with this may relate to the potentially corrupted save file syncing with all your devices, thus the same crash error.
@spice sparrow Let's try one more thing. Back up your Saved folder under %USERPROFILE%AppDataLocalHelloNeighbor2 (e.g., compress it or copy-paste it to another path) and then delete it. Then, run HN2 and start a new game.
Corrupted save probably. It was already completed save.

are you sure that free roam save was corrupted or is it all free roam saves
Only the base game free roam was corrupted for some reason, I was able to load in before.
I know DLCs are quite buggy.

@brittle zenith Deleting saves on Xbox for PC is much trickier than on Steam due to the cloud sync, but I've tested this method, and it should work! 🙂
To completely delete your save and settings and start a new game, please follow these steps:
- Completely disconnect your PC from the internet (both Wi-Fi and cable).
- Go to
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Packages\tinyBuildGames.HelloNeighbor2_3sz1pp2ynv2xeand delete all contents. - Run Hello Neighbor 2. If everything was done correctly, you should only have the option for "New Game" and not "Continue."
- Finish the tutorial and exit the game.
- Reconnect to the internet and run the game again.
- You should then be prompted to choose between the newer save on your device or the cloud save (see screenshot).
- Choose the save on your device.

And all the folders are empty except the folder with the name:
''SystemAppData'' in this the ''Helium'' folder is empty, however the ''wgs'' folder has an empty folder and another one that is not, the one that is empty has the name ''t'' and the one that is has files is ''000901FCC0745E55_0000000000000000000000006596566E''

But it still doesn't work, since xbox syncs the data...
To prevent the data from syncing, please make sure that you're offline when you delete and start the game.
After the game saves once, close it and connect to the internet. You will then get prompted on which save to keep; this is the most crucial step. Please choose "The one on this device (newer)".
It should then replace your old cloud save with the new one.
Okay, now if I get the file, I'm going to play for a while and see if it works well.
