while it would be cool to see some new things, they decided to not show new stuff because it could be scrapped in the development. (and people got pretty upset last time this happened) so it was a better decision to not show stuff

I don't think so. I'm not talking about showing a whole trailer and stuff like that, even just a little sneak peek will be fine. They've been working on this new patch for such a long time, clearly the direction for it has been decided. If they keep this up, everyone will just forget about it. Take Fnaf for example, it keeps up the hype by constantly showing teasers and sneek peeks. Even a poster will be okay.
