I think one of the reasons that the AI feels so robotic (well besides the actual AI) is that most of the character animations are so emotionless
Like yea there's a few ones that's filled with emotions specifically, like when they shout after you leave the house, but what i'm talking about mostly is the locomotion movement animations. They dont even have facial animations which makes the character just look robotic
I think Mr. Peterson suffers from this issue most (even though the other characters have this issue too). When he's chasing you he just looks blank, He should be like be angry, or get annoyed when seeing you after a hundred times. Or get more angry in the getting hit animation. In his Idle he should look around and think about his life or something. Not just look at you emotionless

I think revamping the ingame animations for the characters with more emotions would improve the game so much. I added some examples with Mr. Peterson where i think this issue is the most apparent

I would say it would be cool if they were as expressive as that video promoting the community manager role.

Like, when he sits down at his chair, He should get lost in deep thoughts, or get sad or angry from these thoughts. and when you interrupt these thoughts, he should get out of the chair in anger or annoyance

I completely agree with this. The issue is very apparent when he's chasing you.

I feel like if he ran at you like this(from the AS) it would make it look like less robotic. But idk about his mouth being open

Couldn't agree more with this feedback, i feel like a lot of things could get a revamp, but the animations would be a great start.

the reason why the ai feels robotic is because that poor man is destined to stand from a to b place and that's all he does.
he isn't capable of doing random things anymore, like he did in hn. would say, it's kinda scripted.

old Neighbor in prealpha is the living example on why facial expressions basically don't matter. hn2 neighbor has the excellent expression of being angry. and sad. but he's still not able to act like a human would.
idk if they gave the ability for guest to roam, attack and sneak, then they could give the others a bit more freedom too. i literally can't do anything with the neighbor, he's getting back to standing at x point in the mansion, lookin for me, even if I'm in there and he sees me.
