This is step 1 on making a comeback. I had a game concept based on the older versions that has the potential to be extremely fun and I want to lay the groundwork. 1, there is NO LORE. This sounds strange on a game about lore entirely but I feel like you focus too much on the lore. 2, there is about 100 neighbor houses in the game. Instead of having 1 big house, have a bunch of 1 or 2 story houses and each time you go into the basement you have to get to the door that progresses you to the next level get a new house to explore. 3, keep the houses small. The neighbor even in act 1 just can’t access different parts of his house which was started by alpha 2. Allow the neighbor to get everywhere that the player can. 4, don’t lean on puzzles. They don’t make the game fun and the good part of the earlier builds was that you didn’t really have to think. The good part was sneaking around trying to find the items instead of aimlessly running around hoping you find one thing off. Just put the keys in the sink or on the table. Having a locked door is fine but don’t rely on puzzles because that’s how the neighbor gets stuck in his own house.
#tiny build pointed out the hn1 alphas and I felt like I had to say my opinion on it.

4, stick with the roots of hello neighbor. The original plans were that the neighbor adapted to your behavior. If you break in too many times, he changes the layout to the house like in pre alpha to throw you off. 5, have a lot of alphas and betas. As a community we need to send feedback as fast as we can, sending out different alphas can help up identify how this game should play because hello neighbor 1 and 2 both had identity chrisists. 6, don’t promise any features. Only add them if it’s something you think would fit well and only remove it if the community actively disliked the feature. 7, make the ai smart. The best ai you ever made was the alpha 1 ai which is pathetic. I say that you take that ai and im prove it like giving it a speed buff. 8, release a mod kit. This way you can find the maps that fit the game the best, are well designed and executed property and add them to the game with credit 9, after beating a level allow the player to replay it at any time. 10, use the old art style of hn1. Use the assets of prototype to alpha 1.5 to make the gameplay scarier as there is no lore for this game. This is very long but this is the hello neighbor game Ive been wanting for awhile now. After they made that post I decided to finally share my idea.
step 5 is what they did and it backfired
step 10 just sucks, the art style change was important to make the game stand out
