Yes it was the bug where you need to go in a private lobby alone and choose Ur character

Hey! Could you let us know what is your play mode (TV, tabletop, or handheld), Switch version, and if the game is installed on SD or internal storage? Please also remember to frequently power your Switch! 🙂

I know, you've might not asked me, but since I've got the bug, I'm just going to say.
Handheld, Old switch (not OLED or Lite) and the game is on the SD I believe.

Could you move the game to internal memory to see if that resolves or improves this issue?

I should be able, but I've got that bug before so I might not experience it.
And, in whatever way, I can't test as I'd need Nintendo Switch Online, and I've used my free week. Yeah, sorry about that.
In whatever way, if it's the same bug that I've got before, there is an easy fix. Make a custom lobby, change to the characters you want, then quit and rejoin the game.
After having left the custom lobby.

You can do that via System Settings > Move Data Between Console/microSD Card > Move to System Memory > select Secret Neighbor and tap "Move Data".

Yeah, but that is what I've done to not get the bug anymore.

It literally crashed because I was AFK on the menu for five minutes. I did nothing
