#Board breaking animation.

I think it was removed because it would take to long to remove planks off a door
I have heard people say this before
No offense but I think that is the stupitest argument I've ever heard
in game design history
wooden boards + crowbar = take long (game design 101)
prying them off should ALWAYS take time
It's meant to be a stealth game, you're meant to take time doing tasks so the ai can stop you
- the current one is just an abomination
it's just a literal slap.
It's probably the worst animation in the entire game
Boards don't just fall off from slapping them and I know realism isn't top priority with HN, but the board slap is just not even good looking, it feels really unsatisfying and looks bad.
And I would watch that satisfying deep dive animation 100x... I wouldn't care if it took time it literally looks satisfying. And it doesn't take that long, boards in alpha 1.5 took longer and they weren't an issue.
OK, you've convinced me
Maybe having an animation would be better
Fix this.
Done.
Same it was an really good animation i dont know why the former Lead game designer wanted the game to be so fast thats the reason he removed it i Think he disliked how slow it was
But like you Said its a stealth game
Appereantly they thought we had the tik tok attention span
and couldn't handle the board animations
I guess so
Sorta feels like they designed hn2 to be a speedrun game, with all the quick animations
Litteraly what they were doing
They made the ai predicteble and removed old crowbar animation
They put the glitches in on purpose for speedrunners
Yeah at first they said they werent gonna fix it i Think
For speedruners but Thankfully they changed their minds
Speedruns would've gotten boring really quickly with these glitches
speedruns are meant to be creative
Yeah
Finding the fastest way not just doing the same glitch and seeing who can get it working the fastest
Also the ending to the game was litteraly the most short, uncreative and disappointing thing ever
Ik its not the ending ending but it is at the time and its not rewording at all
Yeah they just shouldn't have released the game
It's clearly like a beta
not the FG
FG means finished product which it clearly isnt
It's like an early access game
It not just like one it litteraly is one just not offically stated to be one
Beta 2
If you really think about it
current FG is just extended beta
the ending is almost the same
get attacked by mysterious character after reaching the end of the museum
credits roll
Yep
It would be nice to see return, and I'm all for it, but I could have sworn it was removed cause it 'ruined the pacing of the game'
I don't see how though, the sheer tension of slowly prying off a board or removing the individual nails in HN1 as you prayed the neighbor would see you is a great aspect of the game
It Didnt ruin the pacing Thats the Thing
It's just weird to see him quickly move his arm and then the board just falls down
is he that strong or are the boards just that weak
Yeah the old animation added some tension because you was on edge that the Neighbor would get you while breaking the boards
Yeah it doesn't make any sense, the neighbors use them to keep quentin out, so it would be logical that they would be hard to remove
it doesn't really ruin the pacing at all
unless they want it to be a speedrun game
which barely anyone wants from hn2
Is that true? I though they were unintentional, but they just refused to fix them for a while
It was a joke about the designer designing this game to appereantly be a speedrun game, which is just a terrible design choice for hello neighbor
