#Rocket Event Storm Problem (and how to fix)

The storm that enables to show the Rocket Event is in progress has suffered from lack of optimization as of the latest updates. On Steam, the storm always crashes my PC unless I'm on Low or below and on Switch (the videos attached) the FPS just tanks. Honestly I think I may have figured out what is the problem here.

It's the particles flying around.

Notice how in these two switch clips whenever they're all visible on screen cause I'm looking around my game is slower, but whenever I'm looking down at the ground or in cover the game speeds right back up. Two platforms I've played this game and the same event has given me the similar issue.

A solution I can provide for the developers is to lower the amount of particles flying around, or at least give players the options to in settings to disable it. Sure it won't look as cool but what's more important? Effects or being able to play the game?

I'd provide a recording of the rocket event on steam, but you can't quite record PC crashes;

This is strange that PC crashes, as PS5 runs almost perfect, with minor lag every so often. Maybe they did something on PC?

I seem to be a few versions behind, running 24.1.1 when i can update to 24.3.1

I'll update right now

If you wish, I can preform a stress test afterwards by seeing if it crashes on rocket event then.

GPU drivers can have a huge impact on performance, so, if possible, try again and let us know if it persists. 🙂

Alright, launching (heh) the game again.

#

Game's running at smooth 30 FPS on very low, the storm just became active so time will tell if it does choose to crash.

#

bumping up the quality present to low now considering good preformance on very low

#

still running smooth, well, smoother considering the 60 fps increase

Well, we made it through an entire rocket launch on Low quality. Fingers crossed the updated drivers will keep this fixed and not just be a temporary solve.
