I'm not sure if steel wool will add more actual story content and puzzles to HNVR but I thought of a special non-canon way to add something special to the game.

Imagine Seasonal Content. Depending on what time of the year you play the game you'll gain access to special side puzzles and decorations.

The biggest season idea I thought of was Christmas/December. If you launch the game from December 1st to Janurary 1st, you will see that it's now snowing outside (a setting can disable the snow falling and just have the snow on the ground in case the VR system doesn't like it.) and that there's snowmen made in outside areas. Inside all interiors there's christmas decorations like santa hats, presents, and maybe even some nice treats put around. However, there's more to this season that meets the eye. In Mr. Peterson's living room by the basement there's a christmas tree that's undecorated.

It's up to the rescue squad to bring back the holiday cheer, ornaments are put around the house like a second batch of coins. Every one you pick up gets put into a box by the tree which can be put on. Putting all of them on will unlock the final puzzle needed to get the star. Of course you'd have to climb up to put it on but when you do the tree lights up with festive music. This summons the Neighbor to the tree and requires the player to hide.

Mr. Peterson would look over the tree and for a brief short moment, enjoys the holidays...but then goes back to his daily routine. Maybe the player would get something for it like a snowball launcher inside of a present that gets opened afterwards.

To be honest, I would really love this in the game. Even updates like this where some stuff get's redecorated and changed to the time of year is perfectly fine and great
