HN2 is marketed as an 'investigative Journalism simulator' but the game never really feels like it, so here are some ideas to deepen the investigation.
Items: Quentin could be given binoculars and a flashlight at the start of his investigation, he could also be given the DisplayTV and around 3 or 4 cameras, located in a crate in the Office rather than in the crime scene he can use these cameras to spy on local residents;
The Street cameras should also be moved to a more appropriate location so quentin can better spy on the neighbors, as currently theyre located in awkward places.
Depth to Characters: adding more story to the characters in the game can make an impact on how the player investigates them, if theyre acting suspicious, then the player will want to investigate them more, so maybe add more idle tasks where the neighbors will do cult related things, e.g: the mayor could count golden apple coins. baker could look at the mini crow statue, giving them a more suspicious look while doing the tasks would also be cooler.
Them also having more idle tasks that require them going outside could better impact the feeling of investigation, baker could sit on a chair outside, the mayor could play with Skipper, Taxidermist could shoot a wooden duck like in the Beta trailer video where Quentin spies on him doing exactly that, watching the AIs from afar with binoculars and cameras make you feel like your spying on them, which is good for this game. (Maybe for Peterson you could make him look more suspicious when outside as he is trying to hide from public view.)
The Guest:
For the forest level, adding in security cameras to there could also help you spy on the guest.
The Guest should have idle tasks too, just so he does something besides stalking you, however he could randomly decide to start stalking you too. Entering a danger zone, like a building should automatically make him cancel his idle task and make him start his seige mode.
Thank you
