The lore in SN is and has been really unnecessary, because it just limits to what characters, maps, etc. can be in the game. Characters like Quentin making no sense and therefore not fitting is just really lame. I think the "SN takes place in the kids imagination" thing was to not being limited to just adding kid characters and theodore variations, maps and whatever, but here we are;

Quentin makes no sense being in the kids imagination, since both of them never met and don't know eachother. It just sucks when characters can't be added because "this retcons that", "this doesn't make sense because that" or "it doesn't fit because that".

Let SN not be canon or have any kind of lore

Every time I get Quintin team mates I get annoyed caused they die most of time
