While the execution of the puzzles in Act 3 is really good, I find there's a missed opportunity for the developers to do and that's developing the relationship between Aaron and the Rescue Squad members. HNVR marks the very first time we're able to see Aaron interacting with them in a non book format and it feels like the developers could do so much more with it. This might be a bit long but I have concepts for how the new puzzles would go down to help have more characterization.
The general exploration of the basement would remain the same. Requiring Guest's favors to be able to explore around, however the changes occur whenever you're in a room with a caged rescue squad member. Take for example my view on finding Trinity (apologizes if this is a bit out of character):
Aaron slowly opens the door to find Trinity sitting down and defeated, looking away from him. As he takes a few steps into the room Trinity quickly stands up and sees Aaron which leads to her going from shocked to slightly angry at him. After all, he was the cause of all of this in a way and doesn't directly trust him. Rather than simply going into Guest form and flipping a switch to get her out. You have to start moving stuff around in the room as Trinity watches you.
Soon it begins to hit Trinity that you're trying to help her as she becomes more hopeful, and right when you're about to flip the switch? The power gets turned off, Mr. Peterson was watching on a camera. The player is left in the darkness for a second before Trinity turns on her light and shines it on you, the player can either directly take the light from her or allow her to light the way for you to turn back on the power. Either way you manage to get back on the power and open the cage which grants the player the opportunity to do a motion (you know, high five, fist bump, thumbs up. stuff like that). You two work together to move a bookshelf and move on, Trinity eventually having to split up for some reason.
However, before she leaves she gives you one last look and basically motions that she's not going to leave you behind and will be back with help, whether it's police or something else.
It'd be this way for all characters, with puzzles that use their powers and having little character moments where they interact or show how they feel towards Aaron at first. It'd make HNVR more immersive.
If this is seen as a good suggestion. I may write a full on story detailing every new rescue puzzle.
