of course its not a bug, it makes u can't hide keys in neighbor room
which is unfair if u can
steam version does this too, when you putting keys in neighbor room it got disappeared and moved to the trash can, so explorers can take it

Like said above, this is not a bug but rather a feature to stop unfair gameplay where the neighbor hides all the keys in the bookshelf stopping the kids from winning.
