For new players it’s hard to find where this puzzle is so maybe there can be markings on the wall pointing to that picture frame or the picture frame could be slightly fallen off the wall barely showing the passcode system behind it.

Eh still scratch marks are a very little thing to indact that this painting has a code behind, Maybe there could be writing on the walls saying the scratches hide secrets

Still the scratches are very small to notice and the only way of finding things then would be clicking like there is no tomorrow on every object.

The main problem is that people don't even realize that the painting itself is intractable, why? Because, there's no other way where the player could tell that the painting itself has a hidden passage

Another example like re4r: when you see some yellow paint on some of the platforms, that is to tell you that you can interact with them
