Currently, closing out of the app or getting caught resets everything, and that really isn’t fun a lot of the time.
What I think should happen is:
When you get caught, your items (not items that you start with like the shovel) should be taken away when you get caught, maybe randomise where they are to add some exploration, but doors that you’ve unlocked should stay open.
When you close the app, your progress will stay.
