#How to make the Sewers a good location

  1. Probably a controversial take but: Remake the other locations first. I know a lot of of people would rather have the new content be added now, but after seeing how much better they made Ted's house look in Patch 8 (colder lighting, extra foliage, book lore references) I think it actually makes more sense to have EGS rework the current locations before they jump into all that. This would allow them to take note of what they did wrong with the aesthetics, stealth, and layouts the first time around and apply that knowledge when making new locations like the Sewers.

  2. Bring back all the eerie aesthetics of Hello Guest. That means making the Sewers a more darkly lit location, and when I say dark I mean DARK. Not like HNVR's more dimly lit Sewers, I mean dark to the point that you have to navigate exclusively via flashlight and/or candles placed everywhere. Furthermore instead of the more calm/upbeat music played in the rest of the game, the music in the Sewers should lean way more into the "foreboding ambient" tone that Nikita did with HG.

  3. Bring back the weeping angel Guest mechanics from HGP (I say HGP specifically because the Guest was faster and it felt a little more intense in that version), and the remodeled flashlight from Nightmare 1 to ward him off. Let him stalk you and peek around corners the whole time you're down there. Maybe also add a small handful of hiding places around the Sewers so you have a less reliable alternate way to avoid the Guest.

TLDR: Imagine having to navigate a large, pitch-black maze of tunnels with nothing but the narrow beam your flashlight. In the background nothing is to be heard but creaking pipes, low droning, and the croaking of the Guest as he rapidly approaches you when you're not looking. The whole time you try to complete puzzles you have to constantly divert your attention to him or get caught. That's what I want the Sewers to be like.
