#Van Side Quest to unlock Fast Travel and/or DLCs

It's odd that Quentin never gets his Van back after crashing into the barn during the prologue, so I pitch that as a side quest Quentin would return to the barn and either call a repairman or fix his van himself to drive it out of the barn. This would allow the player to fast travel (If needed because of the map extending out) and/or quickly head towards the DLCs so you don't need to go back to the menu to play them.

Perhaps to make it so not all fast travel isn't locked behind a quest (like not far off locations), Quentin could use a bike to get to them before you get the van back? You'd need the van to get to the DLC locations and maybe areas further out, as an additional plus, you could load things into the van and bring them to/from the dlc. Like the spray cans from the school.

I find it funny

#

its like he is too lazy to get it out and repair it

#

sort of fits his personality (well the one he should have)

#

would be a neat hg refference if he was forced to use a bike after this

I mean he still has his old personality but only 2% of it in the intro when the neighbor comes and Quentin hurries to put his key in

#

and also the way he drives after the sign shows up

I mean, the bike could work, he could try to fix it but realize that he can't so he finds a bike to replace it.

#

how would fast travel work that's my question

#

I've seen a game where you can just click on a destination to go to it

Oh i just thought of a creative idea!

If they go with the van, Quentin would go in and open a paper map of Raven Brooks and you'd click on the place you wish to go to.

The bike would probably do the same except he'd open the map before getting on the bike.

#

that way the ui could be creatively put into the game instead of a menu that randomly interupts

misty blaze
#

hmm

#

btw

#

could you edit the bike alternative into the suggestion

#

WAIT

#

I got it

#

when the Van is stuck

#

Quentin is forced to use a bike

#

but if he does the side quest

#

he uses the van instead

muted glade
#

Oooo. and the van could allow for longer travel?

#

perhaps if you use van you could get to the outer areas and the DLCS but the bike could get to areas just simply in the inner town

#

and the texture for Quentins Bike is like the only texture in all of HN2 FG thats 4096x4096

#

its kinda funny

#

#

that is kinda funny to think of though

#

out of all the places he could go to fix his van

#

the only idea I can think of fast travel is from this one game called Ice Scream (this isn't my video btw)

muted glade
#

Yeah something like that

#

yo dude thanks for updating my post

muted glade
#

...what?

#

i mean if you already made a post like this then i'm sorry but i just thought of it]

I don’t think having fast travel is necessary because of the map size. Most locations are quite close together, but this is a neat idea especially with the map UI stuff.

#

I do mean like if it begins to expand outwards. like when it gets bigger

#

and if it doesn't? Just keep it for DLCs

pearl shale
#

I mean fast travel can also be in the main map but they'd probably have to add more locations and stuff

#

in order for it to be possible

tall gale
#

why do we even need fast travel

#

if you need fast travel in an open world map like HN2, you must be too lazy to walk

muted glade
#

this is for when/IF the map gets bigger, otherwise it'd be for dlc transport to allow seemless ability to play DLC without going to the menu

tall gale
#

if Quentin ever gets the van out, it should be parked at his office

muted glade
#

Yeah.

tall gale
#

using van for DLC transport is a good idea

#

but, how will you reset progress

muted glade
#

Hm, maybe in the map menu he'd look at the library or school and it'd have something saying 'Restart Investigation?'

#

and then he'd erase the continue button and it'd let you start like new on the dlc

#

and just so people don't accidentally click on it, it'll have a little popup saying 'Are you sure you wish to reset your progress on this dlc?'
