Dear tinyBuild and the porting team..
I actually really like Hello Neighbor 2, even when it was broken on launch, and I really want the game to be the best it possibly can be. The Hello Neighbor Franchise has so much potential and personally I think that Hello Neighbor 2 delivered.. at least for me, but I know others weren’t so happy. That’s why I think Eerie Guest Studios should stop updating Steam temporarily and let the porting team focus on consoles for a while. Get PlayStation, Switch & Xbox updated to at least patch 3-4. Once they’re updated, Eerie Guest Studios can continue steam updates.
This will ultimately end in both sides being happy. Consoles will be updated, and steam will still have new updates. I hope you can find balance instead of just prioritising Steam.
I completely understand that porting to consoles is hard, and definitely costs a lot. However, since those features weren’t there at launch, you’ll need to port them eventually. Leaving a specific platform behind isn’t good at all. The console version could be seen as a scam to some people. Not all, but definitely some.
In one of your goals, you’ve stated that you want to be able to release Steam and Console updates simultaneously. Please try and get to this point before ever focusing on future ports, like mobile.
If you port a game to a specific platform, you need to update it. I know it’s easier to update Steam, but they can’t stay Steam exclusive forever. If it’s time consuming, try porting more than 2 in updates. That could save, I’m not sure though.
Even if you still plan on taking a while, you at least need to let people know your plans, and give actual release dates. It’s unacceptable it took 4+ months to get only the first two patches to consoles. Things need to speed up, or you need to be less opaque.
Thank you. Remember that this is just my view, but I hope this constructive criticism helped in some way or another.
