#Difficulty And Unlocks

I think some people would find the idea of different difficulties appealing. I have made three difficulty ideas to pitch for this feedback.

People Watcher (Easy/Story)
Journalist (Normal)
Professional Detective (Hardcore)

In P.W.(People Watcher) it's more story oriented but that doesn't mean it's fully safe from danger. Puzzles will become simple to solve and neighbors will be slower to react also won't set up traps. This mode will have no unlocks when you beat as it's supposed to be more simple.

In Journalist, think normal HN2 experience at the moment. Ai are suspicious of you and traps will be their normal selves. (hopefully randomized in the future.). Players will unlock perhaps some tools to use when beating this mode however nothing game breaking.

In P.D. (Professional Detective) it's the hard mode of the game. Puzzles will be made harder to solve and perhaps have different solutions altogether. Neighbors will be cautious of you right off the bat as they know you're a journalist. Your tools will be taken away from you if you don't put them on the tool rack and other things like that.

If you manage to beat P.D however, the ultimate reward will await you which could either be a unlock or a extra cutscene that tells more about the story. All difficulties will be avaliable from the start but Journalist will be the recommended one

You can replace people watcher with Trainer

quartz shadow
#

i mean i was more so with going with 'professions that involve investigating' or just hobbies in terms of people watching.

waxen laurel
#

Trainer would fit in this exact option, since you are just "watching the world of raven brooks unfold in front of you"

quartz shadow
#

...I suppose in a way it does fit gimme a second

#

i still don't know. i mean i was planning to have creative difficulty names as the usual 'easy, normal, hard' are bland in my opinion.

#

i have an idea...

quartz shadow
#

GO ahead and say it. i love hearing input.

grave nimbus
#

maybe a lives system on both normal and hard mode heck even a nightmare mode (which i call professional house breaker)

quartz shadow
#

ya think i should add a nightmare mode concept?

grave nimbus
#

yep

quartz shadow
#

i don't got a good name but i know the description will definitely have 'you'll wish you had kept your nose out of your neighbors' businesses.'

grave nimbus
#

ok

quartz shadow
#

i just like that.

Quentin goes from watching things unfold, to journalism, to detective work, to just wanting to go home and put raven brooks behind him if the difficulties are to go by-

also make the ui better

quartz shadow
#

it's a concept, i ain't a ui designer though i wish i was.

grave nimbus
#

you could make the edges not so sharp

#

but i understand

quartz shadow
#

what do you mean by not sharp? like do the whole 'paint smear' thing or...

waxen laurel
quartz shadow
#

i don't want it to be called nightmare upfront so...i'll just go with deception, though it's certainly not dark.

waxen laurel
#

Yeah, your right

quartz shadow
#

Ah, so add like 'bites' taken out of the ui. got it. i can do that.

grave nimbus
#

ok

quartz shadow
#

i know the 'bites' are a stupid name but-

#

honestly i wish danger notifcations were disabled by default-

last save? nah these difficulties after hard always make u restart so thats being lucky

quartz shadow
#

I hate games that make you restart all the way over. I've played too much of those hard modes so i want to give players a break

inland path
#

journal of hell

#

now writing it sounds stupid

quartz shadow
#

besides hn2 is ''''family friendly'''' i don't think they'd want to have a name like that.

inland path
#

cmon

#

not even say hell?

#

what-

quartz shadow
#

i know. i don't know if they would or not but i'm gettting a feeling they wont

grave nimbus
#

i made my own (not as good as yours tho)

quartz shadow
#

Not as good? I mean it doesn have the doodles but i think it fits in more in terms of backgroynd

#

so it's good imo. i just think the doodles help

thick void
#

I think at some point it was in the game files

grave nimbus
#

what were to modes called? (if you remembered)

quartz shadow
quartz shadow
#

unless you're talking to them- i just realized you might be-

tepid totem
#

i dont really like the idea of a difficulty mode

#

i like that everyone has to do the same thing and no chickening out or going hard core

quartz shadow
#

hey it's just a concept. I just like pitching potential ideas.

waxen laurel
#

Tbh, I love a difficulty idea

#

Just having not only AI changes, but the scenery and places changes

quartz shadow
#

i love difficulties that do that, ACTUAL changes beyond 'hey ai reacts faster'

#

it's supposed to be challenging, not just make the ai faster.

waxen laurel
#

Exactly

#

Take this as the example of the latest resident evil games (games that are made in RE:ENGINE)

quartz shadow
#

Perfect example is Madhouse.

waxen laurel
#

Like re7, 2, 3, and 4 remakes

quartz shadow
#

Different puzzle solutions.

waxen laurel
#

Yes, that

quartz shadow
#

Props to Hardcore having the solutions professional has though in re 4...that's off topic though.

#

basically, add more love into your difficulties

waxen laurel
#

Yep

Kudos to capcom
