For example someone is opening a keycard door and you are far away from the door then, you shouldnt hear the sound or you should hear it muffled. if an neighbor is supposed to be secret then you should not hear the neighbor if you are far away... this goes for all sounds there currently is. A kid screaming should be muffled. Opening doors should be muffled when far away or silent when you are VERY far away. it doesnt make any sense if you can hear a door opening from across the map.

play SN with no music then you can hear how loud things are
The neighbor is kinda muffled, the breathing can not be heard when in another room. But I do agree that the sound distance should be decreased a lot.

you should not be able to hear the kids get caught or hear the beartraps at all from where you were
