The ai shouldn't stop to turn unless they are far away. The ai has too much trouble trying to get close enough to catch you since they keep stopping when all they need to do is move straight towards you. The ai should only stop to turn if you are far away from them. They should turn while running if they are closer to you since it doesn't make sense why they would stop when they are that close to you. It makes the ai feel dumb or something and less smart than it actually is.

You can ignore this post since the ai is for the most part fixed. The post was originally made before patch 6 where the ai was improved.

If you won't give us the ai you advertised, at least give us one that knows how to chase you properly.

I feel like the AI would break even more we don't know how fragile the AI

The freezing is why it doesn't chase you properly. The mayor for example usually doesn't chase you all the way to the second floor since he freezes on the stairs. The ai is smart in some aspects, but once they find you they have a lot of trouble trying to catch you.

It's because of the AI trying to turn in place first, and then executing more behaviors (catch, move)

And of course turn in place means that he AI has to stop, which also means you as the player need to stop for it to catch you.

Or if the AI is already stopped, it catches you immediately.

The turn in place thing seems what a normal human would do, so I would keep it when far away, but when close enough to the player, a human would run at you, turning while running. So I would disable the turn in place thing while close enough to the player while chasing.

They never fixed this, there was a bug where the turn in place wouldnt trigger for some reason when running at 30fps, causing the ai to just lock on to you, its on xbox, but only at neilsens house at the first part of the game
