Look I'm sorry to day but the days of handing youtubers access to the game in hopes of them spreading its popularity are done for.
It was a good tactic back when the game was young, fresh, and exciting. But with the constant failure and general mishandling of the franchise, doing stuff like this shall only lead to more bad press.
If you want to promote your game, here's the proper way to do it.
-
Finish the game and implement the features you actually promised (At this point just start over on HN2)
-
Release the game with some ads, not too many or else it looks like Tinybuild is desperate
That's it, just finish your unfinished game, put in the features you promised and then maybe you can send game keys to some youtubers. Look I know that you most likely won't listen to some guy on your discord telling you that the way you advertise is bad, but at the very least put in a detailed explanation to why the game is like the way it is when you give it to people. Heck release an official statement in general, we're all wondering on what exactly happened during development exactly, and how it lead to this.
