- Do not make the SBMM system based on basement escapes. Basement escapes do not equal skilful play. Just because you escape as a kid does not mean you are good at the game. I have seen many players, including myself, escape without doing anything. If you base your system on basement escapes then this will happen:
Bad players who get lucky will get parachuted into high MMR = High Skill players will get bad teammates. Bad teammates = Not Getting into the basement = Getting lower MMR = Worse teammates = Not Getting into the basement... and you get into a vicious cycle which will eventually result in players getting stuck in elo hell
-
Do not award SBMM points based on the team's overall performance but instead individual performance . This will prevent players getting stuck in elo hell.
-
Kid and Neighbour roles should have 2 seperete SBMM categories. Just because you are a skilled kid/neighbour does not mean you are good at the other role. Also you get to play neighbour role less.
-
Factor in the length of the match for both roles when calculating their respective MMR points. If the neighbour wipes out the entire lobby in 2 minutes then that wasn't really a skilful play because the teams was exceptionally bad or afk. On the contrary, if the match took 15 minutes then the neighbour is either absolutely terrible at tracking in which case he should receive less points, or the kids were hiding in a closet the whole time which also isn't the most skilful play.
