Those checks are usually for determining where you are in the game exactly

unkempt yew
bright mesa
# unkempt yew I have seen several checks like that PSnW, and SnO, not sure what they do.

As someone who develops a CYOA (Choose your own adventure) book, I have a guess.

Say, you want to have a scene like this

"You feel like you can ask her some questions"

  1. Question 1
  2. Question 2
  3. Question 3
  4. Move on

Since we need to account for the possibility of user asking all possible questions, we code the game like this

  1. Answer whatever question player asked
  2. Hide the question player asked.
  3. Return to same question

This ensures that you can ask all questions instead of having to choose one

#

For example

BaseGameIsolated.Turn03_PSnW_Listened_Health_Beds
``
Checks whether you asked that relevant question

If yes, it hides that choice

Requested Meeting of Iosef Lancea:

#

I find it annoying how, yet again, instead of modernised armed forces being called modernised, it's instead "IncreaseQuality"

#

I wonder what BaseGameIsolated.Turn06_SnO_Removed_Valken == true means

#

I cannot find the +2 GB

#

Huh

#

I'll try looking hrough BaseGame.GovernmentBudget

#

I wonder about this

#

someone recently told me the threshold for the trade war is -9 GB if your economy is stable

#

which seemed absurd, but I'm yet to test it

#

I'm already at the nationalziationd ecision

#

and still no trace of +2 GB from Wehlen defendborder/jointoperation

#

There's a Wehlen_Trade something something

#

let's browse it

#

nvm it's purely Rizia stuff

#

No clue

#

To summarize

#

I cannot find the +2 GB from Wehlen Trade when browsing the Requested Meeting with Iosef Lancea

#

And mind you I checked out DefendBorder, JointOperation and even basegame.governmentbudget (Wehlen_Trade is just a Rizia thing). I dunno.

#

@buoyant sedge seeing my favorite guide maker here working through code is a blessing

#

I am now also going to start looking through lines of code for my own personal interest, but I wouldn't have done it without you inspiring me

#

my visual studio is prone to constant freezes that can last 5-10 seconds though, is that normal?

when I'm doing searches and stuff

#

I press next on search and it takes a solid 5 at least

#

I'm flattered, thank you. I assume you mean the Sollist Autocrat? I have to note, I am doing a few major changes compared to it in the new version, I'm not sure if people will like it, as in short I'm dropping the anti-communist rhetoric. Maybe, at some point, I'll do a truly evil run, but I don't have the balls for now.

As for visual studio code, mine doesn't crash much, but it takes a moment for it to find the exact quote I'm looking for.

fickle oxide
#

yeah, I was the one that gave you all other steam awards points for lack of better reward

#

what version of it are you using?

buoyant sedge
#

Does that help you anyhow?

fickle oxide
#

oh ok

#

maybe that will help

#

I had Insider edition

#

I have no idea what the differences are but I can imagine code is used for coding

buoyant sedge
#

To be honest, I don't study something even remotely close to coding, my work here is really amateurish. Lots of thanks to a few people here, Rookie Pythoneer, Kibener Simp, Jaher, even Vel helps from time to time, to help me comprehend it.

fickle oxide
#

I think you are doing a good job all the same

#

btw, how are you looking at active files

#

as you make changes it is updated right

buoyant sedge
#

For me it's:
C:\Users\Admin\AppData\LocalLow\Torpor Games\Suzerain

There you find the save files, and after that it's just opening the manual save before a decision, then the active after the decision and seeing the differences.

fickle oxide
#

#

ok I am already enjoying this

#

like we could lose the election during prologue

#

I think it said read code to its right after a few lines that had like 300kb worth of data

#

I was curious what it was hiding so I pressed on it and now it is showing literally every single variable that is currently false

#

I am at the prologue section so that means everything in the game (including the Rizia variables)

#

it's killing my pc

#

how can I close it back

If you read the Sordland Chat, you'll see that it seems the run is going to fail. I simply do not have enough ED, the Trade War was too devastating and the only solution, seemingly, is to just cheese the fact the GB limit is -20, so if we spend anything beyond it it's just free. I'll probably quickly try to drag this run all the way to the end, maybe I'll just leave the deficit to the future administration (instead of takign in a surplus) and roleplay it as extorting Rumburg to pay off our debt, but we'll see.

#

It went back to stable at least, but idk about that man, by that point I'm usually growign

#

Heeey I'm back to 12 ED

#

Far from the 20 necessary, but we'll see

#

Just for ocntext I am at 25 malenyevist points. I could lose up to 4 and still get the comrade Hegel dialogue (21 is needed).

#

I could do focus on economy for +1 ED instead of socialist manifesto I guess

#

Rough estimate again

buoyant sedge
#

I got +1 GB, but that's far from enough to recover

#

I have to rethink this

#

That was the initial plan:

7 GB - Start.
6 GB - L-1 Railway.
4 GB - Stimulus Cheques.
3 GB - Tourism Act.
2 GB - Choose SSC.
0 GB - Gasom Solo Investment.
-1 GB - GREEN.
EPA at 49%.
-13 GB - Budget Meeting (Fund All).
-14 GB - WRA.
-16 GB - Lorren RI.
-17 GB - L-1 Construction Issues.

-17 GB - Nationalize Both.
-15 GB - Gasom Divestments.

-14 GB - Bergia Centralization.
-13 GB - Valgsland Island.
-11 GB - Valgsland Alliance.
-13 GB - WLA.
Arcasian MIC.
-12 GB - Contanan Agricultural Aid.
VETO - Less Smoke Bill.
+PO Healthcare (otherwise protests).
-11 GB - Small Surplus.
-12 GB - Lespian Tariffs.
DEBT CRISIS CHECK unrecoverable.

The few changes I'm introducing is that I can end the game at -9 GB, somehow. Dunno what else

Zargos, maybe you can tell me. I feel like both cats lately act so fucking condescending towards me, it's infuriating. I feel like I'm getting ridiculed for not knowing something they never bothered writing down and sharing. Or maybe I'm overreacting?

As for the game itself, the guide I was making made sense on paper, but I'm short on GB. So my only two ideas now are:

  • Embrace the fact it's basically a wholesome socialist autocrat with minor Sollist elements, maintain military funding, get carried by Valgsland and be in a bagilion times more optimal spot (end the game at -2 GB after enacting Housing Assistance).
  • Go harder on the Sollist part and veto WLA. Maybe even do further minor adjustments, like maintain traditional education, keep Sollist manifesto (then focus on economy, since with that I should have +2 GB surplus) and a few more probably (be in -9 GB debt at the end of the game, truly minmaxing the economy).

I'd like to ask for your opinion on the matter, as you're the first person that came to my mind.

As you can see, I miscalculated my ED and failed to get a large surplus, meaning the initial plan for the new Autocrat run is worthless. I have two ways of continuing I explained above. I'm wondering if the fans of the first guide are fine with maintained military budget, since the devs nerfed that decision even further, or would you prefer a less wholesome version of the run.

which might have been useless after jailing them but either way

went valken strategy all the way and improved the air force

there was one where I actually didn't even take any superpower aid but for that I had to let go of L-1

I didn't finish that one tho so idk if I would have won there

#

I remember you saying that you don't consider a Sollist run proper unless fixing the welfare

but I would go as far as to say going neo-sollism in the sense that adding Realpolitik into the mixture is damn near necessary for Sordland to survive the mid 20th century

#

that's how I justified myself for taking ATO aid but like I said I don't even need to be doing that to achieve recovery

Maybe I could go for solo gasom investment + EPA at 49% instead to get more spare budget. Maybe even ally Valgsland to go for Valken's Blitzkrieg?

buoyant sedge

I’m also just thinking of making two version, neo-sollist that reformed into state capitalism and neo-sollist that reformed into socialism.

fickle oxide
#

there is no way in hell Soll is going to co-invest with Rizia

the energy status has no impact on hte war which is sad but that will be fixed (eventually)

buoyant sedge

According to the game, solo investment is basically a "bailout", something only a capitalist would do.

(Which is why I tend to ignore what Soll thinks and follow my version of Sollism)

fickle oxide
#

it is a bailout for gasom that is not wrong

If I were to do a totally Sollist run it'd fucking suck, because many Sollist just want to go back to the "good old days" and that'd ruin the country. So, I'm opting to modify Sollism a little, the dilemma I still have is in which direction. Allow some capitalism and stand with the west against communism, or expand welfare further and get closer to Valgsland instead.

fickle oxide
#

oh

#

I can easily answer that question

#

or rather the game already did

#

just go totalist maximism

#

it's both

buoyant sedge
#

So far, I'm leaning towards Yugoslavia strategy. Take both ATO and CSP Aid, ally Valgsland because Hegel is a bro.

#

The only real decision Soll will complain about is NOT banning Red Youth.

#

But that's the least he can tolerate, right?

fickle oxide
#

yeah but let him complain man

#

we are saving the bloody country

#

if he was so good at everything he wouldn't have needed us to fix it

#

also expecting him to keep track of geopolitics the way we do is too much

buoyant sedge
#

Or, as I keep saying, crush the Oligarchs by seizing their assets and throwing them into prison, BUT allow small fries to flourish in the market. Privatize a little, take ATO Aid as they're an enemy of my enemy and so on. Something like in the Neo-Sollist capitalist dictator game I did.

fickle oxide
#

well like I said, the totalist maximism that is described here is your definition of what you want to do

#

totalitarian utilitarianism mixed in with corporatism and sprinkled with nationalist autarky

#

Soll was never going to be the peoples man

#

he sees the concept of a country more important than the people living in it

#

the idea of unity comes from being a totalist from his perspective

buoyant sedge
#

I am afraid of the compass calling me a centrist tho. Or a malenyevist. We'll see.

#

Like my rough estimate is that I'll end up uuuh

fickle oxide
#

I understand your hesitation but at the end of the day it's Deivid's misunderstanding

#

and in extension the developers trying to make sense of what you are doing

#

does it make sense to you that rejecting a spy increases Sollist points?

buoyant sedge
#

I assume I'll end up somewhee here

fickle oxide
#

yeah that is a good neo-sollist position no

buoyant sedge
#

If I end up in the lower end, both Deivid and the compass will call me a malenyevist

#

if in the upper end, idk about Wisci, but the compass will call me a national-malenyevist

#

which I agree is irrelevant

#

but people to this day comment on the autocrat guide that the compass called them a national-malenyevist and that it ruined immersion or whatever

fickle oxide
#

oh yeah I get why that would upset you

#

but I need you to think about the political compass tests we have right now

#

trying to understand someones political leanings by attaching numbers was never going to be perfect

#

seeking perfection from an imperfect system is what's keeping you from doing things right now

#

well once you are done going through the code you should easily be able to make choices that will give you die-hard Sollist

#

I just don't think the end result is as important as what you have actually managed to do

#

end result as in what the compass/Deivid says about you

#

you can always tell Deivid that he is wrong as well lmao

buoyant sedge
fickle oxide
#

yeah I also tried to make sense of my own version of Sollism for a long time

#

at some point I decided that people who made this game are also just people who can make mistakes or miss something

#

so whatever I am fine with is what matters

#

my compromise was adding a 4th light in the bulb of Sollism with realpolitik

#

much like what Hegel is cooking

#

neo-sollism is literally what you want it to be, long as it adheres to the first 3 original ideas and doesn't conflict

#

republicanism(check), statism(check), nationalism(check)

#

we keep the constitution unharmed by doing emergency, we run a planned economy so statism, we promote national identity before ethnicity (for the most part xd)

buoyant sedge
buoyant sedge
#

The matter I'm the most torn about is education reform. I guess in a large scale of things it's irrelevant, BUT. More optimal (less PO loss basically), more roleplayish option would be to maintain traditional one. More wholesome, harder (due to less PO) would be reforms. I'm not aiming to ally the NFP this run either. Opinions?

#

Im somewhat leaning towards maintaining the old education system BUT signing WLA. This way both boys and girls experience nationalist education.

#

Like unironically weren’t nationalists historically kinda pro women’s rights since it meant more of “our” people are liberated and above everyone else?

#

Nvm that was just British fascists, Italians and Germans were anti women’s rights

#

Hmmm

#

Maybe I’ll just do a fully LARP sollist run, with * and send people off to read notes that if you want to be more wholesome do this and that.

#

If it works the way I think it will, I could maybe ally the NFP on the sollist run, have them kill Hawker, replace him with a loyalist and then arrest both NFP leaders with ACP, saying they outlived their usefulness. I’m just not sure if ACP not finding the fact we ordered Hawkers assassination is an oversight or not.

buoyant sedge
#

The one thing I want to test is, someone once told me that starting the trade talks with both Valgsland and Lespia is better than starting with just either, if you have that option. Dunno why it would work like that, but we'll see.

buoyant sedge
#

Also for the sake of my guide making, arresting the Oligarchs without investigating them still leads to lowered organised crime.

#

The prologue said I achieved the dream of Soll, the compass says I'm a malenyevist. Dammit.

#

And that's WITH traditional education, not signing Minority Rights Act and probably a few more things.

#

Tbh if I'm not gettign called a national-malenyevist I might as well embrace the wholesomeness a little more.

#

idk

#

anyway back to Hunt

buoyant sedge
#

What else am I supposed to do to raise my score then?

Cause general unrest, despite fixing the welfare situation? I'm not even sure if it's possible given I have turbo negative BO and a BFF uprising takes priority.

Cause a BFF uprising after crushing them through the emergency act? Then why go emergency in the first place?

Form SSP? It's pointless. I arrest the Oligarchs with the emergency anyway, and politically, I'm giga popular with all voter groups + only the PFJP enters the Assembly (assuming I investigated the opposition with ACP and arrested the NFP), I'd bet USP has 80% of seats or more.

#

Politically:

#

Bluds can begin to love me if I sign MRA. With reformed edu and shit, I can also get some liberals to like me.

#

I've got 30+ sollist points btw, so I doubt it's down to that.

(reduced debt)

#

I'm thinking of:

  • EPA at 20%. In that case, I should get... 1 GB. I could always exchange REI for Bank. Importantly, I can only remove bank independence during an emergency, if I don't do that now, I can't roleplay it happening in the 2nd term, while I can do that with REI. but the end result is worse, less PO, less GB, maybe even less ED due to no Gasom boom, not really sure if it's worth it. And EPA at 10% is suicide I think.
  • Keeping Gasom shares (as a step towards nationalization) - I should get +1 GB divestments, iirc. So the same result as above, not really worth it.
  • No Tourism for L-1 on time, but frankly, I don't need it? Like I won't get 20 ED, I just can't see a way to get it (other than idk, EPA repeal and maintain military and whatever else), I have 15 ED for medium surplus, which I think only requires 14 ED, so I can even lose one somewhere.

Uuuuh? No clue.

#

Tbh the one thing I'd wish to do is Bank independence instead of REI, but then I'd have 1 GB too much to do the bare minimum to lower debt according to Symon, or 3 GB too little to enact Housing Assistance.

#

5 more ED, where tho?

#

I guess focus on eco is 1, instead of a neo-sollist manifesto.
Maybe, just maybe, Sarna Agricultural Zone would be better?
Veto less smoke bill? For +1 ED.
Healthcare surplus for ED?

#

Maybe.

No Tourism.
Solo invest into Gasom.
Sell shares for +3 GB
Divestments for +2 GB.

This way I'd have what, a net 2 GB more. Exchange Healthcare surplus for +1 GB. Bank instead of REI, 1 GB less spent. Badabim badabom 0 GB ending, Housing Assistance enacted.

#

Wait, no tourism means no green Gruni I think

flat fox
#

No, wait, didn't realize you were doing GREEN. That might be complicating things.

#

Also Catspaw recently found out that for GREEN to be effective you need to have a certain level of early Gruni development.

#

Meaning, with just GREEN and Mechanization, chances are it won't give bonus ED.

buoyant sedge
#

+2 is needed
-2 from immigrationa nd GREEN
+1 from Tourism, +1 from Gruni plan, +1 from Agri industry
Green Lorren? I Guess? I'm not sure where the last point comes from.

#

I mean don't get me wrong, it's a good plan so far. I'm just trying to minmax it a tad bit more. Especially by spending 1 GB somewhere else and doing Bank independence instead of REI.

buoyant sedge
#

Maybe, I replace Tourism with the bigger Gruni plan, to still recover Gruni. And instead of Tourism I do solo invest into Gasom. +3 GB from shares, +2 GB from divestments. Let me think about it...

L-1 Railway is great for roleplay, national pride and yada yada.

No Economic Relief plan is okay with the idea of "we need government to invest into projects, not just hand out money".

SSC because duh.

Gasom co-investment is a bit sad, but I can roleplay it as "we need to do the bare minimum to keep them afloat for now, we'll nationalize them later".

GREEN is good, popular and commie.

EPA at 49% is okay, a good compromise while bringing us money and prosperity.

WRA is commie and popular.

Lorren RI is whatever.

Firing incompetent managers is good roleplaywise.

Increasing taxes is the same logic as no ERP, we need money to invest into government programs.

Mechanize gruni is whatever.

ATO Aid to play the superpowers off each other, Yugo strat.

Agnolia trade is necessary for Agnland ED.

Wehlen alliance is good for anti-bludism (yknow what i mean).

Morna Port is good mainly because of green infrastructure and production. Benfi port seems worse in comparison, I mean, I can get up to 4 ED, but Catsland said I'd need Gruni green earlier, so I'm getting 3 ED anyway?

CBRA is whatever.

Gasom shares is whatever, we need money right now, Gasom is stable.

Nationalize both is great.

FTCC, VAT is fine. REI, also good, but Bank would be preferable.

Neo-Sollist manifesto is fine.

Valgsland alliance is great.

WLA is wholesome.

The rest kinda doesn't matter.

#

I see nothing questionable in this plan overall.

Maybe I do subsidise farms for Gruni plan and do Bank instead of REI?

buoyant sedge

@fickle oxide Do you have comments or remarks about this plan? I feel like it achieves almost everything I wanted, so it's the best I can come up with.

The only real changes I'd want is to either find 5 ED somewhere to get a large surplus, but it's not really necessary and no matter what I think of I'm missing 2 ED.

Solo investment into Gasom to end up with a 20% ownership, but it's not necessary either, it's purely roleplay to talk about nationalization in the epilogue.

#

Maybe, just so I can avoid enacting VAT, I'd do:
-11 - Nationalize both.
-12 GB - Decrees - REI, FTCC, Bank.
Neo-Sollist manifesto.
-13 GB - Bergia Centralization.
22 malenyevist points (more since REI + Bank, I guess 24?)

-8 GB - Medium Surplus

No VAT is 16 ED
Bank instead is 17 ED

VAT + FTCC + REI is perfect, but that means the bank stays independent. Which can be a good or a bad thing, depends on RP. But I do reduce debt.

Bank + FTCC + REI is also great, but it means no reduced debt.

#

I have some basic economic knowledge, so I know debt will pretty much never be fully repaid, we can only kinda hope to keep a good debt to GDP ratio.

#

One of the countries with the least debt to GDP ratio, Estonia at around 20%, will soon bump it up to like ~35% because of the increased military spending.

#

With 428 billion and 513 GDP, we have an 83% ratio

#

which isn't terrible, Japan has a strong economy despite having like 260%

#

But I also know most countries keep the ratio around 50-60%? I'll double check.

#

It's a bit old, but it'll do

#

83% debt to GDP ratio, but assume a war victory and reparations will fix the situation a little. Plus the newly acquired land should boost GDP as well, I mean, more people working, more GDP.

#

Although it will probably be quite a money sink to rebuild these lands.

#

Eurozone requires less than 60% debt to GDP ratio

#

Sordland could not join the Eurozone

#

Maybe we can start austerity in the 2nd term? Kinda?

#

Nah, not really. I mean, I guess with Rumburg defeated and puppeted by Valgsland, we could kinda defund the military...? Not very Sollist but idk. Keep a strong navy, but defund the army and perhaps the Air Force.

Late L-1 is fine. To be honest, mechanically, it's in large part done to get Gus' investments and for the sake of national pride of catching up to the superpowers. Roleplay-wise, I will fire the incompetent idiots that got their positions due to nepotism and modernise SSC instead of rewarding the outdated methods.

Selling Gasom shares sucks, but mechanically, it's +3 GB, keeping the shares would give me just +1 GB from divestments (I think?). it will be nationalized by force, probably without compensation since Alphonso still owns a majority share (probably not fully nationalized to not lose international support, just majroity, and then I'd be tightening EPA over the years back to 10% or even 0% later on), I just wanted to keep it afloat for now.

Nothing else stands out to me. I really like this plan.

I mean if I repealed EPA and kept my co-invested shares I'd get +3 GB divestments, but like duh, what the fuck, impossible to justify EPA repeal on a Sollist Emergency run.

EPA at 49% leaves me very little wiggle room to get a consistent planned economy. I’m not enacting Stim cheques nor lowering SME taxes, which are consistent with planned economy. I just doubt with Taurus I’d get a consistent planned economy. That’s purely mechanically speaking, LARP is also hard to justify.

#

Malenyevist points are irrelevant here tbh

#

Choosing SSC has no impact on malenyevist points but has in consistency for example, its two separate metrics.

buoyant sedge
#

I keep thinking but I do enjoy GREEN, not only I get to show off the GREEN Synergy to unbelievers, caring for the environment is rather a positive, no?

#

I also end the game at 25 ED, so it's safely past the recovery threshold, so I can roleplay it as the game's limitations, my economy got much much better than it claims it got.

buoyant sedge
#

I think I can even skip Economic degree

#

I'll go with history for the roleplay

#

(as it teaches us realpolitik)

#

@fickle oxide Might as well ask. I'm thinking about the roleplay and I'm not sure what to do with the NFP. I won't be allying them, that's for sure. But now, I'm considering a few options:

  • Begin working on a dictator constitution, later declare an emergency. When Hawker starts threatening me, revoke the emergency, go to war to avoid impeachment, begin working on a dictator constitution (primarily trying to destroy the power of the judiciary) with the NFP in the 2nd term. As a side note, for my ACP investigation, I'd focus on the Oligarchs and while Koronti is always arrested for life, Tusk isn't, so I'd get to keep Tusk in prison.

  • Begin working on a democratic constitution, later declare an emergency. When Hawker starts threatening me, revoke the emergency, go to war to avoid impeachment, begin working on a democratic constitution (like actually fix the loopholes) in the 2nd term with Suheil/Leke (since Ricter is in prison). For my ACP investigation, I'd investigate the opposition, prove that Suheil is a genuine good soul and arrest the NFP leaders, making them fall out of the elections while I get to absord the nationalist votes.

buoyant sedge
#

My main dilemma is whether the NFP are my disloyal ally or an enemy I need to crush and absord their voter base.

#

And don't get me wrong, the democratic reforms wouldn't be "Ricter is right" but "The USP reformists aren't wrong to agree we need change, but we should be in charge".

fickle oxide
#

hm

#

ok I need to ask again, what run was this

#

Sollism run but for 3.1?

#

the whole getting help from both Contana and Arcasia requires so many choices that Soll would never do that I keep forgetting what the point of the run was

#

or were we being a pragmatic neutral leader that is doing what's best for Sordland, regardless of ideology

buoyant sedge
fickle oxide
#

oh ok

buoyant sedge
#

Like I have so many ambitious plans that require GB

#

it's either some privatization or foreing aid

#

and playing the superpowers off each other, getting both of their investments, was preferable to me

#
  • Hegel is a good ally
fickle oxide
#

it's the games way of letting you do that is making this look like larping

#

getting all the commie points

#

I wish there was a better alternative to get both aid

#

like quid pro quo instead of just collecting points

#

we are in a very strategic point

#

anyway I'll get back to your question now

buoyant sedge
#

Yugoslavia is the inspiration of this strat. Despite technically being closer to Contana (as Lileas notes, they liked our planned economy), we show them we aren't their allies just because and they need to work harder to get us to be friendly with them, or else we'll go to Arcasia.

#

And both superpowers try to bribe us to join them, bada bim badabom the equivalent of 4 GB from Arcasia, the equivalent of 3 GB from Contana.

fickle oxide
#

like maybe backroom deal with Rumburg gone wrong that made Arcasia plan for its downfall

#

OH like Rumburg getting kicked out of OMEC

buoyant sedge
#

The lease of our air base is presumably temporary, at some point we will kick them out and the rest of the aid is just "here is money, plz don't join the other bloc"

fickle oxide
#

being exposed for nukes

#

those should have been a factor for us to be able to get Arcasian aid later because they want us to take down Rumburg or something

buoyant sedge
fickle oxide
#

that is not wrong but I would be worried if Rumburg was building nukes

#

that would be the tipping point

buoyant sedge
#

Maybe. I'm working with what I have tho and first ATO aid and then Valgsland alliance is the only option of getting both powers interested in us.

fickle oxide
#

yeah I know you do, I'm just not satisfied with how the game is making us do it.

buoyant sedge
#

I still find it very weird promising neutrality and banning Red Youth means Arcasia doesn't offer investments but idk

fickle oxide
#

like if people were to question our choices along the way and we would tell them we are doing this to get UC to look warmer to us after taking Arcasian aid

buoyant sedge
#

Apparently they actually care for freedom of speech or some shit

fickle oxide
#

like an actual in-game explanation for our characters motivation being conveyed through conversations

buoyant sedge
#

To be honest in NON of the speeches I said stuff like "the future lies in the east"

#

Someone told me before

#

all the "comrade Hegel" stuff

#

is just lip service

#

to fix our strained relations and find the best ally in the region

#

not like we're obliged to meet with Malenyev and join CSP just because of Valgsland alliance

fickle oxide
#

since the game should be able to understand the intention

#

ah it's alright

#

they got way bigger priorities

#

anyway

#

pillars of sollism is republicanism, nationalism and statism

#

you know of black battalion right?

#

NFP would call it the Great Betrayal for what happened to them

#

NFP does not like Sollism's unity and they want bluds out completely

#

so if this were to endanger the unity of Sordland then another "betrayal" would be more appropriate

fickle oxide
fickle oxide
#

Neo-Sollism should rectify Soll's mistakes

#

Sordland needing energy in the 30s did not mean Bluds needed to be forcefully dislocated without any proper reimbursment

#

far as I know I've never seen any news about Bluds getting compensation for any of the actions taken

#

if anything I saw more news about it being an inside job to have an excuse for blud extermination

#

they underestimated the power of Bluds and didn't see them as equals, leading to BFF

#

it was one of Soll's biggest mistakes coupled with aftermath of Wehlen destabilization

#

showing that he is not good at geopolitics either

#

by being able to use both superpowers for your own benefit AND pacifying the Bluds through reconciliation (Suheil route) and unify them, you become Neo-Sollist

#

you are the USP

#

NFP will always sow discord through their racism so their statism would never work

#

hell Rikard had his chance too by accepting help from the Bluds but he was racist af too

#

imagine having the opportunity to bring communism to Sordland and you refuse help from Bluds because they are Bluds

#

instead of trying to be what Soll is/was, you are doing what Soll wanted but wasn't capable

fickle oxide
buoyant sedge
#

Okay, in terms of Bluds. My approach is that of forceful assimilation.

"Be loyal to the state of Sordland and we're all good, regardless of your ethnicity". My logic was, first we crack down on separatism with UELA, RHB and WPB ban. But after we destroy the terrorism (as in get BFF: Eliminated), we need to re-integrate moderate Bluds into the Sordish society. They are still Sords, as per article 6 & 7 of the constitution, that get represented in the GNA (to be honest 2/4 Bludish voters vote for the USP, the rest seems to go to the People's Front), but separatism is presumably gone, so now we can make some concessions and begin the reconciliation process, basically fixing one of Soll's biggest mistakes.

Sollists do NOT want extermination like the NFP wants it. Both Kibener and Remus strip Bluds of Sordish citizenship and you can probably imagine where that line of thought goes.

As for Soll, I'd imagine him right now and on the compass vs him pre-Izzam are basically two different people. I might actually ask on the general chat at some point, where would pre-Izzam Soll be.

fickle oxide
#

yeah you are right on the money with this assessment

#

Izzam incident was also Phelix Bron's tipping point from being moderate to outright exterminationist

buoyant sedge
#

Also, as for other politicians. While in the roleplay my hatred for Ricter is inmeasurable (he wants military defunded while Rumburg wants to wage war, he wants to join ATO just like that, he wants to repeal EPA and a few more things I hate), Suheil is a socdem, so it's kinda whatever. She's close to us in terms of economy, just much more democratic.

fickle oxide
#

Ricter is like Albin in my eyes

#

they are both snakes

#

also they think they are playing the game so they have 0 remorse for their actions

buoyant sedge
#

Since I embrace Neo-Sollist manifesto 13 reformists leave the USP

#

so I kinda become this left wing conservative party

#

left peronism I guess?

fickle oxide

Suheil speaks from experience of real discrimination so she is much more aligned with unity than personal ambition

is wrong.

Catsland and Catspaw recently made me question my own knowledge as well.

#

But one of my professor had a saying

#

paraphrasing and translating

#

the best kind of people are the ones that don't know/doubt their knowledge. Because when they do, they keep checking and verifying before making a statement. Unlike people that are sure they know and repeat the same misinformation over and over and say it with such confidence, others start taking it at face value as well.

#

That was during an oral exam, he basically gave a small speech to give me time to think. Cool guy overall.

#

@fathom tinsel Do you know if there's any difference whatsoever between detaining Iliana straight up or doing it all above board?

#

This part I mean

#

I'm also wondering how to approach Aschraf. I mean, of course the obvious thing is to forbid it anyway, but I'm thinking that maybe I can endure the PO hit and show off as willing to compromise. But I think even in the best case scenario I still get kicked out, the opression will just go from red to yellow.

#

Also just to show off. I am unimpeachable apparently? As in there's nothing to impeach me for, at the moment.

buoyant sedge
#

That could explain why Rumburg collapses so quickly after losing these two cities

#

Siege of Thornbourgh? Don't we just establish a defensive line around TZARSbourgh and Dome and wait for them to give up?

#

This is what the summary said

#

In the end, I seemingly have:
1 nationalist vote
2 conservative votes
0 liberal votes
4 centrist votes
2 socialist votes
0 bludish votes.

Which makes no fucking sense, since the previous summary assumed 3 nationalist, 3 conservative, 3 socialist and 3 liberal + I signed MRA later for 2/4 Bludish votes.

#

I'm gonna completely ignore the in-game files and say I got
3/4 nationalists - that's what the in-game summary says + I'm a war hero. The rest didn't vote since NFP is gone.
3/4 conservatives - that's what the in-game summary says + I'm a war hero. Maybe even 4/4, since who else would they vote for if not a neo-sollist USP.
1/4 liberal votes - I did some liberal decisions like education reform, increased human rights etc + I'm a war hero. The rest goes to the PFJP.
4 centrist votes - that's what the in-game summary says + I'm a war hero.
3 socialist votes - that's what the in-game summary says + I'm a war hero. The rest went to the PF.
2 Bludish votes - Since I signed MRA guaranteeing that much. The rest went for PF.

So I've got... 16/24 votes, assuming 2 voter groups didn't vote. Exactly 66% of the votes. Both PFJP and PF have 12,5%. With the Sordish system favoring large parties, I'd say USP has like 179 seats, the PFJP has 39 seats, the PF has 32 seats.

#

Like what else would I do tbh?

#

Assume I end the game at -3 GB, so with a budget deficit.

#

I should probably use a pc to write rhat much

#

Well

buoyant sedge
#

Okay nevermind, I'd still have 1 GB too much. God how i wish stronger decrees allowed 4 decrees to be passed.

#

So let's assume -6 GB and that I need to fix the deficit.

#

VAT enacted, that's +2 GB already. I'm at -4 GB this way.

Raise large corporations taxes? I think with raised it's already at 35%. Looking at US back in the 50's, the statutory corporate tax rate was at 50%, but over the time got reduced to 35%. I mean, at some point, we'll cause a corporate exodus (as we already see 3 billion SR of foreign investment leave) and people to start evading taxes (ACP works well for it, we can also do public tax returns...). But since Lileas, Leke and Suheil do it in the epilogue, I'll assume it's still a valid option. To be a bit more fair, let's make it +2 GB.

I honestly still don't really understand how nationalized companies don't bring the state profits. I mean, I guess they do by giving ED, but I mean actual GB, we're still operating these companies for profit. I'll assume owning 4 of the largest corporations in Sordland is a net positive of GB, I just won't guess how much exactly.

I assume we can also introduce property taxes, inheritance taxes, capital gains tax... Of course again, until people start evading taxes.

Defund the military? I guess? Rumburg is gone, we're allied to Valgsland, there's no real threat unless we want to join the cold war.

No privatization obviously.

Contanan/Arcasian aid? Maybe? The lease of the base to Arcasia will eventually end, if they want to prolong it, they need to offer me something in return. Also, I assume Contana will step up their game as well, they'd love to refuel in Conriat.

Trade deals in general? Since Valgsland is friendly, nothing is really stopping us from taking part in international trade. In this game, I'd be a weapons producer, an energy producer and an agricultural producent. I surely will have surplus for export.

#

I'll even ignore Rummish reparations and assume it all went to fund the rebuliding of the newly conquered territories.

#

What to spend on then?

#

Expand the railway/build the highwy - I'll guess it's 2-3 GB. But with it covering Agnland, I think all the major infrastructure problems of Sordland are solved.

Gasom nationalization - I'll just trust Catsland and say it's canonically smaller than Bergia Steel and Heart of Sordland, each costing 2 GB to seize forcefully. I'll assume 2 GB for taking the majority of shares from Alphonso, just because with EPA at 49% it probably grew a little.

Sarna Agricultural Zone - I'll also say 3 GB, but it should soon pay for itself, I mean, we'd become a massive exporter of both weapons and agricultural goods. I don't see a point in Conriat Industrial Zone with my setup nor Benfi Airport.

Enact Rural Education Institutes, enact Free Prescription Medicine.

If possible, fund Healthcare, Education and maybe Law & Order again (to form community police). Defense can be maintained or even slightly defunded.

buoyant sedge
# buoyant sedge VAT enacted, that's +2 GB already. I'm at -4 GB this way. Raise large corporati...

Let me just do a quick, humble summary and estimate.

+2 from VAT.
+2 from corporate taxes.
+1 or 2 from companies being operated for profit (I assume whatever surplus they make goes to the government budget).
+1 or 2 from defunding the military (it's a modern era, so we don't need to rebuild the army back to 400k, we can stay at 300k).
+2 or 3 GB from Arcasia/Contana from them trying to sway us one way or another.
+2 up to 4 GB from international trade deals (literally anyone).

So in the worst case scenario, +10 GB, so I'm at 4 GB. In the best case scenario, +15 GB, so I'm at 9 GB.

-2 or 3 GB from the Agnland project (I'm assuming with replaced SSC managers they'll improve and match Taurus' efficiency).
-2 GB from Gasom nationalization.
-3 GB from Sarna Agricultural Zone (I don't see any alternatives for the price, -4 GB makes no sense, -2 GB is a little too generous. Besides, they have all they need in place already, a prosperous Bergia, agricultural industry already expanded etc).
-2 GB for welfare decrees.
-2 or 3 GB from Community Police (since law is well-funded, I'm assuming we just need a slight increase to the interior funding).
-4 up to 6 GB for education and healthcare funding (optional since REI and FPM seems more efficient).

In the worst case scenario, -13 GB-19 GB (including education and healthcare funding). In the best, -11GB-15 GB.

And of course whatever bills come up throughout the game. I'm not sure I'd be able to afford free public transport and all that, but it looks stable enough.

#

Maybe maintain healthcare and education, but enact housing assistance? Seems like a more pressing issue after we fix the poor rural education/healthcare situation.

#

-15 GB in the worst scenario, -13 GB in the best scenario. I'm either at -9 GB in the worst case scenario or -4 GB in the best case scenario. Let's take the average, -7,5 GB, whatever.

#

MORE TAXES (since I ended up not counting inehritance, property etc etc)

If I don’t do geeen I have less PO, less malenyevist points and don’t get +3 GB but +2 GB from shares.

buoyant sedge
#

To be honest, tightening immigration early, while far from optimal, would be another win for the LARP. #

PRESUMABLY with L-1 on time I'd have 17 ED

With Healthcare surplus for +1 ED it's 18

The navy saving us from -1 ED is too late to count as I tested

If you tighten and no GREEN I fear that you can only reach +2 budget surplus

buoyant sedge

I mean the old plan is good, as I said, keeping relaxed immigration for now and tightening it later is whatever

#

but I am still seeking ways to improve it

#

just in case there's something more optimal or just as optimal but more larpy

Hunt: Showdown. Extraction shooter set in ~1896, with some fantasy elements.

#

I love the gungame, having to play Springfield from 1866, or Caldwell shotgun from 1878, idk man, I can't find another game with that.

#

Some games might have Mosin, same as this game has, but all the other weapons, I just love it

#

The main gamemode is to spawn into a map with up to 11 other players (teams of 1-3), with some NPC bosses that you have to kill, banish (~3 miuntes of waiting) and extract with bounties from their bodies. Of course, if someone else kills and banishes the boss before you could, you can also kill them and take their credit.

buoyant sedge
#

The problem with me still tinkering with the plan is

#

while I go through the game files, I also write down the mechanical effects of my choices into the guide

#

so until I finally decide on a single plan and follow through with it to the end, with no changes

#

I can't really begin to work on the guide

#

and if I don't work on the guide, I'm not working on the file reading either

buoyant sedge
#

I mean like idk, I keep thinking. Maybe my trusted advisor @flat fox wants to comment? Before proceeding, I'm considering:
A) Looking for a way to tighten immigration immediately and still recover. I feel like it's great in an RP sense, for a Sollist hating immigrants + for a malenyevist being against an influx of cheaper labour.
B) Keep immigration relaxed, tighten it later. Unfortunately, the way it's done in-game feels like a threat instead of a kind suggestion, but I can still roleplay it as "we need educated workers, but since I funded education and reformed it, we'll create domestic talents in a few years from now on, we can tighten it already" (as in a jutsification why I didn't tighten immediately and do in the middle of my term) + "we enjoyed the Tourism for a while, but since it's an emergency at this point, nobody visits anyway, so we don't need to placate them" (that is to explain Gruni ED).

buoyant sedge
#

My trusted advisor has failed.

#

idk it's 18:37 and I'm in no mood for any of the games I own.

I mean it's an endless survival

#

I'm supposed to custiomize my family but I'm not sure what's good and what's not

#

and I spent my entire 30 minutes just building random stuff while half of the family was on a supply run collecting random stuff

#

I will have to give it another shot after reading some guide

#

But since there's no "story mode", just endless or endless with pre-set starts.

#

I think I'll just collect all the achievements and leave it.

#

To be completely honest Vel

#

I'm in a mood for some story rich game

#

but... wait gotta go

#

I'll finish my thought in a bit

buoyant sedge
#

honestly

#

I'm in a mood for something story rich, with great world building, characters and choices that matter

#

I've played almost all the Telltale games - I think I'm only missing Borderlands, but I'm just not interested in the world of Borderlands.

#

I've played ALL Quantic Dream games - Detroit: Bocme Human, Heavy Rain, Beoynd two Souls...

#

I've played the Dark Pictures Anthalogy. Or at least, the first (man of medan) and second (little hope), both disappointed me, but I should look into 3rd and 4th game

#

Until Dawn never goes on sale and I'm not paying 300 zł

#

Life is Strange is some fucking lesbian high school drama, I'm simply not interested

#

what else?

#

Recently Dispatch came out, but full price and only 2 chapters doesn't make me wnat to play it yet

#

Slay the Princess and Disco Elysium were nice, but not nice enough for another playthrough

idk man

as much as I enjoy it it needs to be played in moderation

# flat fox You're missing out, the borderlands one is considered the best.

Eh. I've played Borderlands 2 with friends, but I'm severely disappointed, not once in these 6 years since I bought it I had the urge to play it. Personally, I liked The Wolf Among Us for the plot and characters the most, but frankly the choices mattered to little it was more like an interactive movie.

#

I'm still hoping for the second game, but we'll see, I'm not holding my breath anymore. TWD was also an interactive movie except for the last game, I actually began replaying it yesterday to get the remaining achievements.

buoyant sedge
# flat fox Fahrenheit, Indigo Prophecy?

Yeah this game was weird, but I played through it. Barely remember by now unfortunately, must have been around 2017? Well, whatever, I'm not really replaying games from Quantic Dream, non really captivated me.

#

I unironically liked Heavy Rain the most, even if the twist sucked and I knew that it was rushed. Just the plot of a depressed father trying his best to save his child was cool. Detriot was overall meh, Connor >>> Markus (a little too main-character-y, didn't feel organic) >>>>>>>>>>> Kara (already boring, but especially with the Alice twist, completely lost my interest). Beyond: Two Souls was weird as well, I'm just not a fan of sci-fi and supernatural shit.

buoyant sedge
#

I'll look into Dispatch.

#

I've decided to check out the subreddit after avoiding it very carefully.

#

And the first few posts are just "I like the blonde woman", "I like the tomboy", "will this woman be romancable" and "I want a gay romance", which is fucking disgusting, there are so many dating sims and straight up nsfw games, why is this game's discussions all centered around romance and nsfw?

#

Meh.

#

Maybe I should finally give Rizia a try

#

after hearing SO much about it already

#

I do wonder how my first playthrough would look tbh

#

I'd probably romance Lucita, have a child with her and make him heir, go to war, centralize by seizing Sazon lands...

buoyant sedge
#

I'm thinking of returning to this

#

but holy fucking shit if reading through game files isn't the most extremely tedious task.

#

Like I played this game and roleplayed because it sparked my creativity, while this whole browsing through game files killed it.

#

But at the same time my obsessive completionism/the need to be thorough forbids me from dropping that idea.

#

Besides, to be completely honest, I was in a mood for a fascist-ish game. The traditional "third way" between capitalism and socialism. To go back to the Neo-Sollist Capitalist and like, privatize welfare, nationalize companies, EPA at 49%... Ending with market or mixed economy, I guess, depends if I go dictator and need Koronti or autocrat and can kill both.

@fickle oxide Look, I thought of making it into a reddit post, but I'll just ask you.

When you use a my steam guide for suzerain, or actually, any steam guide for suzerain, do you do any changes or do you follow the guide to the letter?

I ask primarily since one of the major reasons I did the "mechanical part" of the guide where I test every decision was to showcase that yes, you can't just be rude to Ewald and expect the game to not recognise it and change some variables.

Alternatively, I'm considering doing one last test run to see if it worked the way I wanted it to, and if it did, just post it as it is and maybe, just maybe, work on double checking every decision's mechanical effects and update the guide over time.

fickle oxide
#

I only do changes that is otherwise specified as "insignificant" to the overall plan

#

Such as having personal wealth investments or not

#

It's better if you release the guides intended vision first

#

Then update it to perfection or as close to it as you can get

Because the game itself is still missing key features such as rumburg buying gasom having 0 impact on the war effort

#

and you can't really do something game itself is missing

On an autocrat run:
I start with some PW.

I can invest into Armadine.

(Tusk's bribe happens).

I can pay for Serge. Always a good way to spend PW.

I can pay to Alphonso Foundation (+2 PW). but that would mean I have to start rich and buy only 1 000 stocks in Armadine, since I'm not skipping Serge if I can. But that's pointless, since I might as well start poor for a net +2 of PO and net +2 of BO.

I get armadine returns.

I can buy Vineyard/FC Anrica.

I get a return from either.

I can gain money from insider trading, I'm nationalizing tho.

I can send Franc to HSU. Which I will, likely.

I can donate 1 PW to Women's league.

I'm only considering starting in Holsord to both pay for Franc's education and donate 2 PW to women's league.

X ED?

This, with a solo war, is a good run overall. I'm just questioning if a Paternal Autocrat would cause a Bludish Uprising and then sign the Security Act, or do I veto RHB and avoid the Uprising?

The problem of Immediate BFF Threat: Persists stays though.

Yeah idk I'll ask reddit I guess.

Unironically I think I’ll try not trading with Agnolia and taking the healthcare surplus to nationalize HOS and BS. Maybe just majority of one to avoid the Oligarchs fleeing and Gus leaving my cabinet.

Hm. I'm at 16 ED. With Unrest synergy, up to 17. With delayed WLA, I'm at 18. With Bergia Steel nationalized, I'm up to 19 ED. Now to just replace VAT with whatever free decree I can. Hell yeah, large surplus here I come.

#

But wait, that means maintained debt. Eeeh...?

To the fans of my old Sollist run, I have a question. Just for context, this is the old compass and summary of my run.

#

I've made a new run, a pretty damn good I'd say. Minmaxed into Large Surplus, all ministeries funded, L-1 built, war won, etc.

There's a bunch of things left to player's discretion. You can do either ACP or SSP, your choice who you prioritise. You can do Valken's Blitz, or change a bunch of decisions to do solo war instead. You should even be able to do Sarna or Morna, maybe even Conriat, depends what you prefer (although second CSP Aid will still be mandatory, the +1 GB and +1 Gruni ED is too good to pass up on).

But now the question is, just update my old Sollist run with this, or make a completely new guide, call it version 2.0 or some shit?

#

If you don't have an opinion, I'll do a new one and call it version 2.0. I'd like to make it into my new "main" one and leave a lot of choice to the player, and not have it be very rigid "do my exact steps or fuck off".

I have to check the effects of the refugee situation in the prologue. As in, escort or let slip through.

I have to check what benefits does each security measure give.

I have to re-check if EPA at 49%/Repeal has the same impact on economic direction.
