A-check and repair are for two entirely separate requirements. when you do an A-check you also do the repair, but when you use the bulk check feature you get the repair done for free, that is true and bulk checking is the generally recommended option.
wear accumulates at between 0 and 1.5(? i could stand corrected on this)% per departure. A-checks tick down at one hour per realism flight hour, rounded up (so an 11:02 flight (in realism) will tick down 12 hours) (but in easy (150% flight speed) it takes the realism flight time as well, so a 07:47 flight in easy will actually take 12 hours off as well).
if your wear goes above 30%, your alliance contributions can take a hit. if it goes above 50%, your contributions stop entirely, and if it goes above 90% your planes can't take off any more. if you're not in an alliance I'd just focus on planning repairs during downtime (e.g. when you're asleep) before around 80% or so to stop your planes inadvertently grounding themselves. if you are in an alliance, keeping the planes below 30% is key.
as for A-checks, below 20 hours left to check stops your alliance contributions, below 0 hours drops your share value and possibly your reputation, and further into the negatives risks an audit, which can be quite expensive. i'd personally never deliberately check a plane below 0 hours to check.
i'm not sure what youtube video you're consulting, though. can you post it here?
