I'd guess you need a cap on U6
I do.
It's on the bottom side of the PCB.
Good to know. I didn't think it mattered.
It's to mitigate chip noise
I originally had the U4 on the bottom, but moved it to the top so I could use a reflow plate.
But I think there could be some cool uses for this board, like making light up clothes. And it's like the size of a XIAO board. But like the only place you can get the ESP32-S3-MINI-1 is from parts distributors.
there's some nice boards using this mini esp32 - some of them even omit the USB port to make them extra small
