CNC cutted wood with an acrylic 3mm panel behind and some ws2812b leds ( we built this super super cheap )

On top a projection mapping with some crazy effects

This is awesome, I've been curious about projection mapping for a while. I don't have a projector though, so I need to come up with an idea good enough to justify the purchase.

The setup being in your backyard, I assume your project is at the front of it? What did you do to protect the projector from weather? What kind of projector are you using - just to get an idea about what's "good enough" / cheap for this kind of purpose.

This projector did we use at the event

we just use a plastic box from a store and made a cutout for the lens.

but the projector itsself is half of the money

You will need a lot more equipment tbh, if you wanna start it you also need a software like madmapper or resolume
