anyone have any ideas on why the ui for a page is different based on whether navigated to directly via the url or navigated to manually after going through the home page? (I'm not really sure where to start debugging this):

for extra context, navigating directly to the url when running the dev environment works perfectly
it's only when deployed to Firebase hosting that I run into this issue
