We don't know if GEN2 armour can be locked. I mean I'd assume so, but we've never seen in action as far as I can remember. But that doesn't really matter. They probably didn't anticipate to be shot at by AA, and so therefore died.
I mean I wasn't complaining about their deaths anyways (as lame as they were). I was using it as a reference point
