It's possible they mentioned something in halo 5, but it isnt clearly explained other than the domain is open and Cortana got access.
I still find it interesting that the Domain didnt fix the problems Cortana had that Rampancy caused. But did cure rampancy and stop the process in its tracks.
It took the fragments of cortana that were available and reconstituted her, but it's not like it could replace the missing parts
Exactly
or it did, and what filled the gaps wasn't super good
Its why Cortana still has some Rampant-like sparks in Halo 5 during the stop-n-listen areas.
She literally has a moment during the final run where she "acts" like Halsey if ya stop-n-listen during it. (Yea that was weird tbh)
when she's chastising Osiris?
No. When Orisis is running to destroy the orb thing to save Blue at the end of the game. (But it happens during that also)
you mean when Locke is getting bombarded by grav pulses and struggles to release the cryptum?
Yup. If you slow down to a crawl. (Something the game doesnt suggest you do lol) more dialogue plays
an interesting thought: cortana left behind enough of herself to save chief from the nuke. this remnant expressed compassion, caring, seemingly love and melancholy.
it's almost like she left behind all her good parts
then the bad parts that make it to the domain reform into a new cortana, and this new cortana acts more like halsey than ever before
it's almost like she left behind all her good parts
Yeah, heard that hypothesis before. Makes sense.
sure but new cortana acts like halsey
a thing
old cortana was smart but she was nowhere near as reserved as halsey. nor as utilitarian
A Halsey that never grew.
There is also the thought that the Fragments we see get split off in Halo 4 during the final mission is the Halo 5 Cortana. And the Cortana we see die in Halo 4 was the main one we spent the game with.
Halsey started feeling guilty when she realized how many spartans died on reach, right?
since that's when she decided to abscond with as many spartans as she could gather
And she was feeling guilty even during the training
well not guilty enough to change course
Yeah, her AI convinced her to stay on, since ONI would simply bring in somebody who didn't care
but her lightbulb moment was on reach during the fall, yes?
Perhaps
so if the deaths of her spartans triggered her to seemingly abandon her original mission about saving humanity (in favor of saving her spartans), then maybe loss is the key to triggering cortana to release the error of her ways
but where Halsey has an affinity for all spartan IIs, Cortana's is much more specific.
i.e. if chief dies trying to stop her, would that shock her into seeing her methods are worth the end result?
Scared straight? Maybe.
one of my theories is that while she says she's doing all this for all life, what she really wants is to make a galaxy where Chief no longer has to fight, and can be safe
Yeah, I've heard that before.
though why she felt she needed to wait 10000 years is beyond me
maybe she thought that's how long it would take for sentient life to lose the will to resist her and submit completely
Or how long until her society is "perfect"
installation 00 is also here on the server. Do note like it was said, there is speculation and some of it is presented as truth while it is speculation and theorizing etc.
lol, ericky you always so late
also maybe lenght of time things can be brought to a planetary level
Like, terraforming mega projects an dother mega projects that are not just terraformging
Is what im ean
I'm worried though about that hidden audio from the trailer. Worry it could mean a much less compelling resolution to whatever is going on with cortana
Yeah.
tbh the last thing i want to see is a fight between cortanas
Oh no, the cortana fight conversation ...
does anybody know if the scene where johnson and the elite were fighting before the autumn exploded was a canon or non-canon scene? if it was i wanna know how in the world did johnson survive.
Non canon
okay thanks i was just confused
More specifically, do weapons such as the light rifle do more damage to shields or armor?
Or is it even?
In Halo 4 and Halo 5.
Would say they cut through both about the same. Forerunner armor did gave shields and thus so would the flood tainted forms
SWAT teams still exist in Halo, right?
Since I remember reading something about how ODSTs can be sent on similar missions.
Odst is still military and wouldn’t be used for domestic law enforcement
I've heard that they can be used in hostage situations or even replace the role of a SWAT officer, if necessary.
From who/what?
That appears to be where halopedia cites much of its info on ODSTs
Doesn’t say anything about taking the role of swat officers
That was for the counter-terrorism info.
I can't remember the source for the police stuff.
Sorry.
Oh, sure, military handle counter terrorism, them or federal law enforcement
That's kind of obvious though.
I'd imagine that their usage would be very situational for domestic terrorism, like with the SAS.
Unrelated to domestic terrorism but who would be used in situation where a political figure is held hostage?
Spartans or ODSTs?
likely depends on who is the hostage and who is the kidnapper
I'm talking about typical rebel scum here.
that would probably fall to combined efforts of federal and local law enforcement
Even if it is a president or something?
military wouldn't be sent in unless the issue escalated
if a president was kidnapped then secret service (or the halo equivalent) would run ops for his rescue
i only see military being used if the abduction was off-world
So a shadow organisation like ONI?
probably not
I'd like to see this expanded on, I think it would be pretty interesting.
Only time I could see military/Spartans sent in would be if the covenant had nabbed someone. Or one of their remnants
But Spartans were originally designed to fight rebels.
in wartime, yes
but there is a difference between war actions and domestic law enforcement actions
I guess it depends on how they value the hostage.
Are there canonical hymns that are sung by the Covenant? I can only think of one possible example.
In Regret.
I think that was just Regret telling the Covie faithful that were gonna light the rings in a very ceremonious grandiose speech
San'Shyuum language and speech native-wise resembles human Gregorian chanting in terms of sound
What we hear as chanting is to them speaking as we would to us
So what does Chief and the UNSC think of non-Covenant religious groups that don't use Forerunner technology.
I imagine it would depend on whether those groups are a threat to the UNSC or not.
Yeah, as long as they don't put the universe or humanity at risk then they don't mind.
ONI probably monitors them though.
||Like with everything else.||
Would they attack Humanity for using the technology?
It would depend on the group, most likely
Are you talking about a hypothetical group that finds the use of Forerunner tech sacrilegious?
Yes.
If it's a hypothetical group, you decide whether or not they would if they were to hypothetically meet the UNSC and find out they've reverse engineered Forerunner tech
So not a hypothetical group then
Also, the Ussans weren't against using Forerunner tech, they were against the Covenant
Heck, the Ussans wouldn't have survived without the tech they used in the Refuge
Oh OK but of course the Stoics are a real group, and the only hypothetical factor is if they still exist but if they met the UNSC would they go to war with them, like they did with the reformists?
That would depend on if they were told the UNSC reverse engineered Forerunner tech. It's not like the UNSC are going about saying "Hey, we reverse engineered all this tech!"
What if they did find out? Maybe by some info obtained from the Covenant?
If they did still exist, there wouldnt be too many of em left cause they were all on Janjur Quom when its sun went boom
*if it's sun went boom
There is reasonable doubt about the actual fate of Janjur Qom.
If the Stoics found some ancient San'Shyuum technology, would their religion allow them to use it?
Unless they can connect them to their ancestors no, I don't think they will
Most likely they would think of it as Forerunner's tech
Is it possible the Truth in Halo 3 is a phony with Geas of Truth and hejust hid away?
I wonder how the stoics would react if they'd learn the truth about their "gods"
Is it possible the Truth in Halo 3 is a phony with Geas of Truth and hejust hid away?
The Prophet of Truth seen in Halo 3 is the real Truth, he did not turn himself into a Geas or hide away in between Halo 2 and 3
I would be OK with a retcon like that, if they got the first voice actor to return.
A retcon like that would make Arbiter's side of Halo 3's story feel kinda pointless if Truth wasn't who he killed
....its the same truth as in halo 2
The VA is different between the two games
“I am Bill, Truth’s body double, the Voice of The Covenant!”
“....and so, you must be si-wait, what?”
And the personality of Truth is completely different between the two games, which I recall talking about here recently
its differnt but i still think its the same person
although tbh i never noticed a persoanlity change before people pointed it out to me
Changing the voice actor already made it feel pointless.
What the Hell is a "Geas"?
its differnt but i still think its the same person
Well, it is the same person, just for whatever reason, they decided to change his personality in 3
Changing the voice actor already made it feel pointless.
Things happen that cause the original VA to not reprise the role, it doesn't suddenly make the character pointless when they have to replace a VA
What the Hell is a "Geas"?
https://www.halopedia.org/Geas
a Forerunner term that referred to a genetic command imposed on an organism or species. Under the influence of a geas, an organism could be given a set of subconscious orders that would either be specific to that organism, or passed on to their children, in some cases lasting several generations.
What the Hell is a "Geas"?
imprints of a being included in the gene of a species. like remember that geas chakas had?
in the foreunner saga
Sorry Faber, I barely know anything about the Forerunners.
It does make it less satisfying, far less satisfying. Not to mention maybe Truth had some plan to hide away, he seemed smart enough to pull something like that off.
the forerunner era is like, the most interesting part about the haloverse for me.
The Forerunners have never sparked my interest, it's not why I like Halo.
It's cool how their ancillas can take over the suits of dead Warrior Servants.
It does make it less satisfying, far less satisfying.
Again, sometimes VAs have to be changed, often for reasons out of their control, that does not then somehow affect the quality of the character writing in a game or show. The only reason why Truth was so different was because the writers decided to actively write the character differently, regardless of the VA change
Not to mention maybe Truth had some plan to hide away, he seemed smart enough to pull something like that off.
He did not have a plan to hide away. If you're expecting him to come back with a secret Covenant fleet or something, Palpatine style, I'm afraid you'll be disappointed
In good way, without Mary Sue there to ruin it.
Rey wasn't the problem with Palpatine's return
No, she was the problem with the whole trilogy.
This is not a SW lore channel.
And of course the writing for Palpatine was the worst.
No, she was the problem with the whole trilogy.
palpatine's return was them being lazy.
That was a problem with every character in that trilogy.
to some extent yeah.
It could've been anybody who was there in place of Rey. The problem with Palpatine coming back in TRoS is that it felt like they were trying to course correct the franchise after TLJ and they didn't feel confident that the villains they already had could serve them well in the final film of the trilogy, so they decided to just bring back Palpatine as a "Hey look, he was secretly the big bad the whole time"
laughable.
Writing a Mary Sue character was very lazy.
Again, the writing of Rey, is pointless to why Palpatine coming back was not a good idea
And this isn't mentioning the fact that it undermines RotJ with Vader's redemption
If they did the same thing as what was done with Palps with the Prophet of Truth, it would feel forced, make no sense and likely anger way more people than it would please
The Last Jedi had horrible writing, thinking they were so clever by misleading the audience, destroying what every scene built up to, with awful battle scenes and a contradictory motive for the characters.
Most importantly, Rey ditched Anakin's sabre in the SAND.
Yeah, that was awful as well.
Seriously though, is Bad Blood worth reading?
It's okay.
If he explained his plan, unlike Palpatine, it could work. Have him leave the Covenant before Halo 3 and put the phony, dumb Truth in his place.
If he explained his plan, unlike Palpatine, it could work. Have him leave the Covenant before Halo 3 and put the phony, dumb Truth in his place.
Even if he explained his plan, it would till feel forced and make no sense
Truth is dead. Let him stay dead
The new trilogy was lazy.
they actually had a sense of DIRECTION and sstorytelling, even though most people didnt like this direction, but atleast it was there.
in the rise of skywalker, that sense was lost. they had no idea what the hell theyre doing. just "ok lets just get this saga over this" type of thing, no direction, no sense of storytelling, no real ideas.
AND THAT VADER'S DEATH SCENE WHEN HE ASKS LUKE TO REMOVE THAT MASK IS MY FAVOURITE FROM THE ENTIRE SAGA AND THEY JUST FRIGGIN RUINED IT I HATE THEM EBDBWLBEDJE3
If he explained it to a character who thought he was dead, it would not feel forced. Have a character make a similar reaction to the audience.
I did not expect that kind of response.
well its true
I just don't want to go off-topic.
Then again... it wouldn't really matter if I got banned.
Luke trying killing his Nephew made the whole movie and the trilogy pointless. Making him a hero for that was dumb.
the direction they took was not what i wanted or hoped for. but in TROS there was no direction. it was a train wreck of a movie.
Let's stop talkin' about a silly movie trilogy in the Halo lore channel, eh?
right
If he explained it to a character who thought he was dead, it would not feel forced. Have a character make a similar reaction to the audience.
You literally just rephrased your earlier statement to try and justify what you're saying. It would feel forced for Truth to come back from the dead
There is no reason to bring Truth back from the dead, the franchise doesn't need him as the big villain
Ew
I don't want Truth to return.
Explained forced? What is you definition? Also for me he certainly did not come back for 3.
I think it would be ridiculous.
I just don’t want big villains for a while.
why the actual f would you want truth to return jesus christ
Halo shouldn’t have brought in the Diadact or Cortana/Created. The universe should have been given time to breath.
Too bad.
It was less than 5 years since the Covenant war ended in universe.
so what do you think the storyline shouldve been?
That’s not a long time to allow for growth.
Agreed, Canadian.
So he can get a proper conclusion, unlike in Halo 3
Halo 3 was the proper conclusion for the character, regardless of whether or not you liked it, Arrow
Truth did get a proper conclusion
he had a proper conclusion lol.
His end would have been just as appropriate if it had been the same voice actor and characterization as halo 2
Just less preaching
It was not consistent for the character.
Making it so that Truth was somehow alive post Halo 3 would give us the problem as what happened with TRoS, like I have already said
People hold their own opinions, I disagree with what you say, Arrow but it's fine to think that way.
Bring John back in Halo 4, don’t bring the diadact, have the next several games focus on the post war period, the UNSC struggling to rebuild after a massive war, the Elites and other Covenant races going their own ways.
Have John struggle with the concept of being a man or a machine without Cortana for several games.
Then, maybe in like 2570 have Cortana’s signal appear like in H5.
But if you really can’t stand it, write a fanfic
and btw, i think bungie planned on including requiem in halo 4,,,just watch the H3 legendary ending. the only reason why requiem would be included is uh the didact.
Not really
His death by the flood was not very good.
what the
He didn’t die by flood
he died by arbiter
And the flood don’t care what kind of character truth is
John should of crashed High Charity into Truth, killing both Truth and the flood at once.
That wouldn’t have killed the flood
That wouldn't have stopped the Flood
Ok, Chimera, we really need to stop operating on the same wave length
But like I said, fanfic.net sounds like the place for you, arrow
Like maybe a slipspace jump, like reach.
John should of crashed High Charity into Truth, killing both Truth and the flood at once.
you do realise what the flood is?
Water
Like maybe a slipspace jump, like reach.
How would a slipspace jump to Reach help in any way in stopping the Flood?
it..wont.
John should of crashed High Charity into Truth, killing both Truth and the flood at once.```
So you would've taken Thel's one significant action in Halo 3 away?
I'd say the "silence" scene was pretty conclusive and powerful.
I mean doing what Noble 6 did to the Covenant ship in Reach but crash into Truth.
My biggest issue with Halo 3's story is that Thel didn't have much outside of that scene. Taking that scene away would just make it pointless to have Thel in the game
Rather than Chief smashing into them all of a sudden, that would just be anti-climactic.
Thel could be on it with him.
I mean doing what Noble 6 did to the Covenant ship in Reach but crash into Truth.
Six didn't detonate the bomb
like, that whole teaming up with the flood thing, then killing truth, then getting betrayed by the gravemind? thats a WHOLE LOT better than what youre suggesting here buddy.
It's kind of back pedaling a bit.
Redoing halo 3 is backpedaling a lot
I'm saying to redo it, I'm just saying how I thought it should have been done.
a lot of people seem to believe that h3's campaign was underwhelming. what youre suggesting will turn that opinion into an objective fact.
I feel Halo 3's story could've been better, but I can safely say that I wouldn't change how Truth was killed
well, nothings ever perfect.
Indeed
So, which Halo game wasn't boring to you?
Overall.
CE was simple which is fine for a beginning
I’m glad they expanded in subsequent games
Halo 2, 4, 5, Wars, Reach, ODST, and Awakening the Nightmare.
Awakening the nightmare?
CE was never meant to literally build a sci fi universe the way it did. it was just meant to be a simple little story like most other FPS games during that time.
The Marathon games were great though.
This is all opinionated, Arrow.
So what if the Marathon games were great? That doesn't really have any baring on whether Halo was going to be good or not back in the old days
Yes it is opinionated.
Marathon was more complex.
Marathon's more complex stories doesn't matter to the storytelling in Halo
In what way?
The fact that it's not relevant and we have a completely different dev team now.
Like, CE's simplistic story was fine for the first game, Halo 2 built upon what CE gave us by giving us a tale of two soldiers, one trying to reclaim lost honour, the other was just trying to save humanity while also dealing with super weapons and alien parasites
That sounds pretty...sketchy
I prefer 2 over 3. Like in almost every way
Personally prefer 3
2 had more characters.
3 was a great ending to a great trilogy
It was trying to built up to a last level they could not complete.
Do you have evidence to support that?
What? The final level was completed. Why else would it be in the game?
Well yeah, they said they were gonna have Chief face off with Truth.
Halo 2 definitely had more than one level planned
Halo 2 definitely had more than one level planned
Halo 2 had a whole entire act cut off basically
They were gonna do everything they did in 3 in 2 essentially
Well yeah, they said they were gonna have Chief face off with Truth.
@simple locust Source?
3 should of had a boos fight with Truth.
I have heard that too but I don’t have any sources
boss fight, with truth?
I recall Bungie noting they intended a last level, probably check the Bungie Halo 2 commentary. Also yeah a boss fight, like regret.
It would just be Regret 2: Electric Boogaloo, that wouldn't be fun.
Prophet fights weren’t traditionally fun
It was fun in 2, it could be in 3.
There is a cut Warthog run in H2.
You’re one of few who thinks fighting regret was fun
Lmao.
Most feedback on it was that it was a lackluster encounter
I agree with that consensus.
Regret's fight was literally just jump on his chair and punch him a bunch without any real way of making it interesting
It felt like a gimmick.
It was less about fighting him and more about clearing mobs
like i dont see how a truth boss fight would be anywhere near as intersting than what we got but
Indeed. Those honour guards were more of a boss than Regret was
Yeah it was different. Jumping on the chair also allowed the player to escape the guards.
regret was like chilling on the chair while my homeboy John punches him to deaath.
For a time.
I think a QTE would have been an improvement and that’s saying something
No thank you.
Press F to stab
Too bad the fight wasn’t over at that point
Yeah, I tried...
Could you imagine if the credits rolled after killing truth
I'd be sat there going "What about the Flood?"
What about the Brute attack on the Elites?
Well yeah, all melees only use one button.
Killing truth resolves the brutes, too
Because technically rtas got rid of the rest of them in space
Rtas the real mvp
I'd like to see an intro to Halo in the style of something like MASH.
Also Regret was more fun the fight than the Halo 3 brutes.

At least with the Brutes, you had more options to kill them.
You literally had to rush Regret and spam a button to kill him.
Yup, so did a lot of other players.
Well yeah but regret has better and more interesting strategies, like teleporting. He is also better at fighting.
Or shooting.
Regret was always a more in the action prophet
thats not a fun way to kill
Regret, gameplay-wise was not all that interesting of a fight at all
Well it also requires jumping, and knowing where he is going to spawn. Also the same can be done to halo 3 brutes, melee quick with little to no consequences. 3's brutes were on most ways a downgrade from 2.
Yes but the great thing about the Brutes is that you're not just limited to melee attacks.
Try quick meleeing a brute on legendary, see how that goes
Except for the additional Chieftains, although not as good as Tartarus, still worked well.
You also haft to evade shots from regret.
Tartarus was a terrible fight.
The problem with both the regret and Tartarus fights were that they had mechanics that artificially prolonged the fight
Tartar is basically a how not to make a boss fight 101
On top of being a bullet sponge, you can’t even damage Tartarus most of the time
Also both only have one attack a piece
Halo CE elites were bullet sponges.
Not really
i wish the game killed tartarus without a boss fight
You have to rely on an AI, which is not even accurate to give you the opportunity to attack him.
And when you can attack Tartar , it's a small window of time before the shields ccome back
You’re supposed to use plasma on shields
Use a plasma pistol or plasma rifle, their shields break in a second, even the red bois
Maybe two seconds for red bois
Then they flinch and you can switch to magnum for that crispy headshot
Can the same not be said for using the beam rifle on Tartarus?
Or just waiting for his shields to go down.
I don't think you're given that weapon.
The problem is the waiting
You can get it, you just haft to keep it.
Nobody likes waiting to have to deal damage
Tell that to Bungie, they keep doing this stuff...
Can the same not be said for plasma weapons, when one is not available.
The big issue with Tartar's fight is that you literally can only strip his shields using a beam rifle. 9/10 you will not have one yourself and have to rely on Johnson to take his shields off
And if you do have one yourself, his shield comes back faster when you strip them off
Plasma weapons of some kind are almost always available throughout CE
Yeah just use a sword.
Wait you could actually damage his shields? I always just ran and waited for johnson to break them
Energy swords don't work on Tartar when his shield is up and getting close to him is a horrible idea
Do beam rifles in Halo 2 do more damage to shields than armor in Halo 2?
Pretty sure beam rifles bounce off armor
I’ve never used beam rifles against vehicles, seems like a bad idea
It is a bad idea
Beam rifles dont penetrate hardened armor well. Especially not refractive coated material like most UNSC equipment
What about the spartan armor?
I knows its Titanium
But
In real life
Shouldnt a beam rifle laser act more like its easy difficulty self?
Rather than its legendary self
Depends on where it hits and the density of the beam.
Our most powerful laser is equal to the power of 2,000 trillion watts
It was held for a trillionth of a second ha
Actually that was from 2015 an article from 2019 talks about a laser at 5 times that power - 10 petawatts
So I’m gonna say covenant technology in the beam rifle is gonna burn through literally anything it touches, I don’t think even easy mode does it justice
Huh
10 petawatts is 1/10th the power of all the sunlight that reaches earth concentrated into a single beam
All of them
The bungie design or the 343 design
343 has gone for a "all of them are canon" stance.
They’re just different varieties, like dogs
Yeah
Ah
Okay
I was just a wee bit confused cause I know that 343 changed most of Bungies's stuff in halo4 and 5 and I was wondering if One or the other was the true design
But if all of it is canon
Well
Well, hopefully everything related to the Storm Covenant is just ejected into the vacuum of space.
What’s wrong with the covenant remnants? I like the story, I think it makes sense considering the collapse of an empire like the covenant can’t happen overnight
Makes sense that a religious extremist would try to lead the helm
Ah, fair enough, no accounting for opinion. You know, uh...what’s his name, med’telcam
I respect your opinion though, Ko.
I will say the way they treat the characters in game leaves a lot to be desired
Yeah, Jul wasn't concluded with justice.
That’s for sure
It would have been cool to see Thel and Jul confront each other.
I bet the exchange of words would be pretty interesting.
If it was done correctly anyway.
Wow I never thought about that and now I’m upset it didn’t happen. Two of the most fleshed out elite characters with opposing viewpoints, leading opposing armies in a civil war
They probably would have just had an old man fight like Chief and Locke though 😑
Yeah, sorry that I ruined it for you lmao.
Or even Rtas because he doesn't like the humans either.
Shadow of Intent shows that he really mellowed out after the war ended
All he wants is for fighting to end.
And peace.
He basically hunted down the remaining members of the Covenant.
It's a pretty good (and sad) story.
I gotta catch up, haven’t read any of the novels since the Thursday war trilogy
True that, lots of free time when I’m not studying
Haaa that’d be a lot quicker. where’s the fun in that though
Well, I did it for some of the stories.
No harm done
Surprisingly, one of my favourite books is New Blood.
Isn’t that the one with rookie? Ugh idk if I can do it
Yes, he meets a certain... fate...
I’ve heard 😞
It was a glorified plot device.
But I think it was used really well.
It basically caused the squad to collapse.
And most of the members questioned Buck's leadership at that point (including himself).
Yeah and I think that was an interesting, if depressing, choice for the ODST squad but i don’t like bucks characterization in 5
Not the books fault though
No, I just really enjoyed the book overall.
It felt like a biography of Buck's experiences which was made by himself.
I’ll definitely check it out, might order some of the newer books soon
What's your favourite book, Ko?
Hmmm definitely one of the Eric Nylund books, they felt like real military stories
Don’t know if I can pinpoint a specific one, it’s been a while
I'm not sure if I have read any that were written by him.
Fall of reach, first strike, a couple more; all the og halo books except for the flood
I need to read those.
Definitely, I highly recommend them
I haven't read First Strike or Fall of Reach.
I'll keep those in mind, thanks!
I think the only book that I didn't enjoy too much so far, was Last Light.
The only newish one I’ve read was legacy of onyx and i didn’t hate it but wasnt too impressed; something about the writing felt really weird and lackluster to me
I keep forgetting what happens in it, so I read it again and I'm like, "Oh, That's why I forgot the plot!"
What happens in Legacy of Onyx?
It’s told from the POV of a civilian teenage girl and she goes to school on onyx because her adopted parents are researchers. A group of elites teleports in for some reason to do something bad, I can’t remember why. Then some Spartans stationed on Onyx save the day. I can’t remember too many details I think I read it 2 years ago
Sounds like an interesting premise, thanks.
I think that I've heard about the story for it before.
Also, the city on Onyx is also home to Swords of Sanghelios researchers and children.
Oh yeah it’s like a multi-species school with grunt kids and elite kids I forgot all about that
It's a pretty good read too
Okay.
It is, we learn some really interesting things about the Grunts through one of the Grunts that attends the school
I still find it hard to imagine a Sangheli researcher that like just drops their kids off at school on the way in to work
Actually I have a bunch more questions about the elites that stem from that
Like...do they still do that thing where they shove their kids off to be raised with uncles after the war?
Did all of the elites even do that before?
I think they mention something about that in relation to the elite kid that the main character becomes friends with
How he doesn’t know his dad
That specific Elite is a unique case though, but it's a pretty major part of the story's plot so I'd rather not spoil it if Waffle is planning on reading the novel
Which book
I feel like I'm slowly building a backlog of Halo stuff to read
I like stories that can play with the cultures and politics of the species in Halo
Legacy of Onyx
Ohhhh yeah hahah I just remembered the context of that
Smoke and Shadow wound up on my to read list when the intro of the synopsis said the story starts out with a human scrap salvager selling stuff to elites in a bar with her skirmisher business partner
Smoke and Shadow and its sequel, Renegades are amazing
Kelly (the author, not the Spartan) did a fantastic job
I wound up developing a bit of a jaded opinion of Halo after it felt like it was getting very up its own butt with making everything about the 5 million year old long dead ancient aliens. I like seeing more grounded stuff from the universe and my small bit of research into the EU since coming back to the series looks like they've done a lot of that stuff since H5.
Aye, they have. Honestly, it'd be nice for us to get a game in the future that gives us a story like that
I hope we get another ODST game, or a new Silent Shadow one.
Still holding out hope that Infinite being set 3 years in the future is setting up the universe for having to deal with the politics of trying to rebuild together after being curb stomped by cortana. That could lead to lots of fun stories to tell.
Aye, I could see that
That's my hopes for this "spiritual reboot"
Actually
Could you imagine if they pulled a Jul and had Cortana already defeated by the beginning of Infinite?
What utter blue balls.
(I wouldn’t mind though personally.)
I would mind
Right after John opens the pelican, he accidently flies right into the central hub of the Domain, killing Cortana instantly.
Ez clap
That sounds like a better pay off than Truth's death... right guys? Right?
does anyone think that 343 will expand on Nicole 458 and expand more on the spartan 2 class 2's ?
They need to make prometheans more interesting to fight
5 was a good step up from 4 but it still doesn’t hold a candle to fighting the covenant
Class 2 didn’t happen
The a.i. Needs improved too, halo CE still has 4 and 5 beat
Because they shouldn’t just throw away the Cortana story line since they already started it, but it has to feel good to play through it too
Yeah, but all we can really do is wait for now.
Well... class 2 did happen according to bungie at the time it is even mentioned in the Halopedia.
Source?
Halopedia spartan 2, just scroll down you'll see it.
I mean scroll down while you're reading the spartan 2 class and you'll see spartan 2 class 2 and it mentions Nicole 458.
Was Nicole the one who tested John's Mk 6 armour?
Is there a preference to halopedia over halo fandom wiki
Halopedia is more reliable.
No that was someone who tested in the mk 6
Nicole was a non canon Spartan for DOA?
Nicole was someone who was featured in dead or alive 4 as a sort of cameo for master chief because bungie thought Microsoft wouldn't really agree with the idea of having master chief in another game .
Well her story of her appearance is non cannon in DOA but she does exist cannon wise in the halo universe
This is true, but halopedia states her backstory is non canon.
Actually her backstory is canon but it's just the part where it explains how she is there in the Doa universe that is the non canon part .
what I mean by that is that her origin of how she became a spartan is canon but the mission that she is involved in where she is in Nassau station in a form of time bubble created by a forerunner device that sends her back in time to the DOA universe in not cannon.
Here's a note on Halopedia about the "Class II"s
The Class of 2537 has not been referenced in any official media barring the quasi-canonical ilovebees. The timeline of SPARTAN-III Alpha Company mirrors that of Class II, though no official work has called attention to this coincidence. Notably, the first edition of the Halo Encyclopedia references Yasmine Zaman as a member of the Class of 2525. Though Nicole-458 is said to be based on a "real and properly defined Spartan", the ambiguity of this statement leaves the canonical existence of Class II in doubt.
@cyan thunder @whole canopy The canon of the DoA4 stuff is as follows.
•The framing device that uses ILBs is canon for the timebeing. (Though some Halopedians will debate it)
•The Station itself "Nassau Station" is canon. But not it going through time.
•Nicole herself is canon as a Spartan. But every single detail about her is a mystery. She may not even have the same tag.
(And atm Class 2 can work if Halsey is not involved beyond her cancelling her version of it)
Her journal mentions a few other programs that could equal S-II
We know nothing about them so
@last anchor I guess Nicole and the so called class 2's was probably one of these programs but not really expanded upon .
Class 2 as a specific program defined by ILB’s isn’t canon and it can’t fit into current lore, Nicole could fit as a Spartan III though, number wise.
Well
@stoic hamlet that's what I was thinking at vey least.
I'd debate that Class 2 can work
But not as ILB’s illustrates
Which is what I said :p
It could work
But not in the present format.
To try and force it in makes no sense.
Well... the only issue is the fragments mentioning Halsey. BUT. That could be a mistake from a broken and splintered AI.
@stoic hamlet
I mean I suppose. It wouldn’t be called class II though.
But I wonder for her service tag instead of being 458 would be something like maybe B-304 ?
Why would it need to change?
Well her tag is currently non-canon atm. XD
She could be from Alpha Company. They had 497 candidates.
And we know S-III’s detached from their companies absconded from using their Company designations for security reasons.
So the tag works.
Now that put it that then yeah there be no reason to change it.
sorry for any misspelling kinda rushed that one out there without prof reading it first.
You’re good.
So I guess Nicole would probably be known as Nicole A-458
For her tag to be canon, yes.
But atm. The only thing canon is
Her name is Nicole. And she is a Spartan.
What Spartan generation. We have zero idea.
and the whole spartan 2 class 2 background would probably be more lore background for her as a mean of saying that she's one of the first candidates to be a prototype spartan 3
Or just one of the first hundred individuals to be a spartan 3 .
Oh well that makes sense.
So now that possibility of her existence is a bit more folded out speculation wise for cannon and that she could possibly be a spartan 3. What would be the explanation for the whole spartan 2 class 2 program or is it better left off alone? Because like Killer Orca said earlier that it could be considered a side project that Halsey's journal mentions briefly about matching the spartan II's but not really expanded upon because if so then I could see why, I mean when coming to talk about it, it's quite confusing.
IMO it’s best left alone. Trying to shove something where it cannot go never ends well.
True that especially if it's not thought out to well or planned out right.
So I rewatched the trailer where Carter becomes a Spartan III.
Why don't they give him anesthetics? Surely they can reduce his pain with all the funding they have.
That trailer isn’t really canon visually.
It’s done to look flashy, but in the book that shows the III’s augmentations and the like it’s done much differently.
“We had books?”
~Bungie
So what would happen if the flood fought Tyrannids?
Flood would consume the Nids. The nids require large structures and complicated organisms to ensure consumption, literally eating their way through a planets biosphere.
The flood merely need an animal to breath. And something tells me even the Hive mind of the Tyranids would PALE in comparison to the force of the Gravemind.
Also worse; EVERYTHING about the Nids is biological. We're looking at every single Nid vessel transformed instantly into a Keymind.
COMPLETE jump from feral to Interstellar
Could the Tyrannids infect the flood?
How chaotic was the writing process for Halo 3's story?
What things in Halo 3 would you have gone back in time to fix?
I recall 3 or more writers, was that why?
And i probably butchered that sentence
Like were there things in Halo 3 that could've used a bit more work?
A lot of the story
For example, John only said one thing to Thel, “worse”.
A lot of Miranda’s decisions are really odd and dumb, no military commander would have ever done what she did.
Truth is super OOC.
Thel’s basically pointless, as is Rtas.
It’s okay John and Thels bond goes beyond words 🤝
"To war"
cringe
I barely see them as friends.
What did the Drones do to the Marines they captured?
Ate them, most likely.
That's a scary thought.
I mean, that seemed to be fairly common for Covenant troops. Jackals and Grunts ate most of Bucks home town alive.
That said, there's reports of humans doing the same in return, especially in desperate situations. Apperently, Jackal tastes like chicken if you cook it right.
I'm aware of Jackals doing that but I don't remember New Blood mentioning Grunts doing it.
There was a scene in FOR where blue team wiped out a hundred or so unggoy and kig-yar who ate the citizens of a town. Would say besides the san shyuum and sangheili, every other race will happily eat a human
Not surprised really.
I don't think that New Blood specified how Buck's family were killed.
But I can assume that it was not a desired fate.
Is it possible that the covenant reverse engineered Ancient Humans' starships?
Well they did that with Forerunner tech.
So I can't see how they wouldn't be able to.

it is certainly possible
but there havent been such cases as far as we know
Anyone here know how the Gravemind was able to talk to Chief on the cruiser that came to Earth during Halo 3?
Probably neural physics.
Thank you, kind sir. Literally watched a thing on neural physics today and didn't even consider that.
No problem, I'm glad that I could help.
Thank you, kind sir. Literally watched a thing on neural physics today and didn't even consider that.
@rigid ravine What did you watch?
Probably installation 00s stuff cos it’s the best
Indeed it was. Installation00's video on the Precursors. "The Precursors. They're coming. - Lore and Theory"
Are you a member of the discord then?
We have great discussions about lore and stuff
I didn't know that the guy had a server.
I don’t know if I can post a link here but it’s in the description of all his videos
in halo 2 how did the gravemind telport chief and thel away to the rest ofthe game?
teleporters
Gravemind took over the Halo teleportation grid
like how cortana did in CE
Yep
Except gravemind had a monitor in custody so likely had much better control over the grid
Where are the passenger seats on a Banshee?
Since I think that I remember a quote somewhere which describes several people using the vehicle.
There are no passenger seats. If multiple people are using a single Banshee, they'd have to simply squeeze in there together.
I was thinking the same thing, even then, how the Hell can you squeeze together in such a tight space like that?
You can’t
Banshees are made for giant species like Elites and Brutes, so Humans and smaller species could conceivably squeeze in together
Probably experienced the Mandela Effect.
No it happened once. Zuka 'Zamamee and the unggoy Yayap escaped thr human base in The Flood with a single banshee
lame
What is your opinion of the heretic elites?
I could see that working
Eh I figure Yayap just held on to Zuka from behind while the sangheili piloted it, as that was the whole reason they were at the banshees
What is your opinion of the heretic elites?
Sesa's recruits were pretty bottom barrel to have gotten routed by Thel and the spec ops
Well no one said they were experts
They're called "Special Operations" for a reason
Isn’t the point that spec ops could kill anyone?
They're dead now.
Anyone would get their butts handed to them by those guys
Eh I doubt all died. Some camped on the moon
Sesa's team were an artifact recovery team, and equipped as such. Thel was one of the greatest warriors in the Covenant
You know there elite when the grunts are above cannon fodder
I'm pretty sure that almost all of them (if not all) are dead.
The facility lost it's gravitational systems, the Flood had overwhelmed personnel and Thel killed the leader.
Unless there is lore established for a planned escape?
we fly by some banshees on our way to the final fight
maybe those guys got to safety
I doubt it.
it's possible, is all that they're saying
Oh note about Zamamee and Yayap getting in a banshee together. It struggled to do so. Losing altitude.
(Had to check the source for that)
Now whether it was a Type-26A or Type-26B is unknown.
I am just saying the heretics had another base on the moon
I should have specified that I was exclusively referring to the facility's crew.
I would think the A variant as that's all that existed at the time.of the writing
Well yea those on the mine are dead
I've been wondering... the title cards for missions. Is this what the character is thinking?
title cards?
Seeing stuff like, "I should have become a watch maker".
I'd say they are just themes for level sections.
Funny idea but doubt that. Thel doesnt seem like the guy to think ,"your butt, my size 24 hoof"
(Plus puns on what is happening)
Well... you never know. Plus, I like the idea of Noble Six aspiring to become a watch maker lol.
Hah
At first, I thought they were the mission titles, but now I think they're "chapters" in the campaign.
It's like the entire campaign but divided into multiple parts, and those multiple parts can be composed of multiple missions, or smaller parts of a single mission.
Have Bungie or 343 clarified what they're for, though?
I don't think so.
Otherwise you'd see videos like: "sIx WaNtEd tO Be a WaTcH mAkEr CoNfIrMED?"
Halo Follower.
I'm surprised nobody's brought up the fact that that's a quote of Einstein's
Think the Sentinels would try to help the Marines in Quarantine Zone?
Without an active monitor, probably not
without a monitor directing them, i think they'd ignore the marines unless attacked, then go hostile
or maybe they'd just try to sterilize everything in the zone
Yeah, I would have thought that they would just try to sterilise everything.
Anything fleshy must be purged
the only way to kill the flood is to starve it 😛
Sterilise and burn, until it is done.
So Im just now getting into the books and I just finish the Fall of Reach. I liked it alot but my only complaint is that there are time skips and I got a bit confused when it skiped. But I still really liked it a lot
Im going through the flood right now
Time skips are a common theme in Halo books.
But I did want to ask. I know the Miranda Keys is Captain Keyes and Doctor Halseys daughter, but do we ever get to find out when they did the business. I mean Im pretty sure I met between 2517 and Mriranda was born on 2525 so when did it happening in those 8 years? Do we ever get any info on that?
Its mentioned in Halsey's Journal from the Reach Legendary Edition. Don't remember the exact date
Its after the Human-Covenant War began tho
Wait no.
Miranda was born in February, 2525. So 9-ish months before that
Thanks Toa
So roughly June 2524
There is a mention in Halsey's Journal of Halsey and Keyes getting together in 2524, implying they got "busy" that night, but it's in November if memory serves, which obviously has some problems.
Oh ok. I'll have to see if I canm get a copy of the journal
Best of luck. You can get luck and find a copy on E-bay now and then, but that's usually it.
Yeah. I'll see
Also with the implication of Halo Reach when did Captain Keyes have time to get Cortana from Noble Six?
Oh wow, I just looked and there are several listings for it right now.
I know that theyre a lot of plot hole with canon with Halo Reach and the Fall of Reach
The general implication is that Keyes picked up Chief from Gamma station, and just before jumping out-system he turned around and landed on Reach to pick up the fragment of Cortana
What do you think would happen if noble six came with Keyes
BTW, the Cortana in Reach is a fragment that was created earlier in the month of August
Oh
What do you think would happen if noble six came with Keyes
Autumn would've been destroyed by the ship that was one its way to attack them
I think he means: what if Noble 6 had had the opportunity to go with Keyes and escape
Basically: what if Noble 6 were present for Halo CE
Yes
Would they need master chief or will Keyes still be alive???
That is the question
And I know that The Fall of Reach was suppose to show that Chief was the last Spartan and explain why there wasnt any in Halo 1. Atleast that was the idea. But in any other books do we get an explination of how Linda, Fred, and the rest of the spartans survived?
That would be First Strike.
Ok so first strike explain it. Gotcha
I'd assume that if Six didn't die on Reach, he would die protecting Keyes as he crashed PoA into Installation 04.
Well it starts the explanation, Blue Team are kind of pivitoal in the novels. Until they vanished about halfway through when we swapped from Bungie era (ending with GoO) and into the 343 Era (beginning with Glasslands)
But what if the installation was destroyed I watched a video on how one marine could have destroyed the flood so would he die by being infected or would he help the marine ???
So what is the funniest human death in Halo?
Probably that lady trying to rob the ATM in Sadie's story getting Mauler'd.
That or the buisnessman trying to talk to the Wraith and getting turned into ash by its mortar.
The one guy who tried to join the Covenant during Cole Protocol but the Covenant just blew up his escape pod
Is it the overweight guy torn apart by grunt on Harvest. Oh yeah that's funny too.
Thats not funny, thats sad
Dude held his own
He went down like a soldier.
Took some Covies with him too.
yeah, Noble six could have been w/ the Marine Fireteam that found the Covenant releasing the Flood in the Swamp quarantine complex
I have yet to read the book. Wait I thought he was the first casualty? It said he also yawned a lot. I've just the Halopedia article about him. Is it not accurate?
Ok so I did check Halseys journal and it does say that they met again with Jocab keyes so maybe thats when it happened but it doesnt go any further then that
They say its november 17, 2524
Yeah, Halsey ain't delivering after 4 months. Not unless she did some experiments on her own daughter
Toa, I pardoned that for you
unfortunately people rarely use that word in relation to Halo in a serious manner
Thanks. Sorry about that.
Because Halsey was a neglectful mother.
or maybe just a bit too occupied with her work?
like, ive read her jounral and it certainly feels like she cared about her?
That's kinda why she was neglectful
oh
Well it seemed that they had a falling out as miranda was 7 or so
She was so focused on her work that she didn't spend enough time with Miranda
Then she went to live with Keyes and changed her name to keyes
But in the journal she did say that she did talk to Jacob about miranda
Did they have more kids or just Miranda?
just miranda.
Did they break up or just not spend time together?
as far as i know, even halsey and jacob were never really "romantic". like they barely ever met.
Halsey did call keyes a gentleman so I think thjeir was a sence of flattery with keys and halsey I just wish we had more of that
same, but this was not meant to be a "romantic" relationship.
it was more
uh
idk how to say it
I mean I wouldnt call it romantic, no. But i do think there was a bit of flattery with eachother but nothing more then really just a close friend
Is that Jimmy Carter?
They had comradory with each other but it was probably just a night that they had together and one thing led to the next. Then miranda was born. Probably more of an accident then on purpoose really
Halsey lost her family .(
yeahhhhhhhhhhh now all she got is blue team
OH AND HER OTHER DAUGHTER IS TRYING TO RULE THE UNIVERSE BAHAHAHAHAHA
Daughter... eh
It was basically a one night stand, but I do think that halsey does carew about miranda I wish we had info on how she felt when miranda dies or when keyes died
Well not her duaghter, but really herself
she certainly cared, thats what her journal and the fact that there was a photo of her in the lab at the beginning of h5
suggested to me.
Raw Flood biomass converted ot a weapon if I had to guess
So what is the difference between those and pure forms?
She cried after learning her death
So what is the difference between those and pure forms?
Pure Forms refer to a specific combat unit that is made of pure flood biomass instead of converting a host into a combat form
How is a host turned into tentacles without being made a pure flood biomass?
What makes the tentacles? Is it the proto-gravemind?
Pure form is different than just bimoass
if a host was turned into a tentacle then it's not a pure form
Oh OK. How are they made?
Coordinated Stage Flood can actually start produced flood biomass de novo
without converting other creatures
Also were flood cults infected before they joined?
no
if you're infected then you stop being a cult and you're just flood at that point
cults that worship a thing aren't part of the thing they worship
Why did they join?
¯_(ツ)_/¯
some people are crazy
maybe the idea of joining a hive mind appeals to some people
Was it due to the flood being Precursor dust?
Did they have weapons, like the Covenant?
halopedia, friend
not sanshyuum
where is it said in the lore that the UNSC funded Flood cults?
Human-San'Shyuum Empire government.
i probably shouldnt do that in the lore channel where people come to learn about things
danke
Flood cults would be dope. Halo : DOOM
That would be really really really dumb
A Flood cult already exists but I believe they were wiped out when the Flood took High Charity
Imagine the flood not infecting a cult on purpose so they can spread more easily
Or delay-infecting, turning them into living timebombs...
Actually SanShyuum were also infected during the Flood's first emergence in Forerunner Era
Flood initally caused phychological changes in behavior of humans which caused them to abduct uninfected and force feed them til they grew to horrific sizes before consuming them tooo
Which served to spread infection
So the Flood did do slow infections and used those people to gather more people to spread more easily
the cannibalism contributed to the mutation of the parasite
it evolved to a point where it could turn people into flood
Yeah that
When I say it would be dumb I mostly mean in the context of if it were to appear in one of the games or current era set books. As a plot beat in the background of the flood from however many ungodly years ago it was it’s fine...I guess. But if flood cults were going to start popping up in 2560 I’d sit back and wait for the pending Dead Space lawsuit.
But Waffle, don't you want to be made whole?
lol
i like Ellie better anyway
Stupid question that's approaching spoiler territory...
Is Echo 216 (the Pelican from the Infinite trailer) a D77-TC or a D79-TC?
Something tells me that it's a D79... But I'm not sure
Or, I could have answered my question without realizing it
You guys should check this out if you haven't. I've watched a few times since it came out in April and I love it.
Unless?
Yeah but like we already have dead space for that and the flood aren't really that interesting as a story device anymore.
Is Echo 216 (the Pelican from the Infinite trailer) a D77-TC or a D79-TC?
Something tells me that it's a D79... But I'm not sure
Doesn't seem to be either.
There's a section between the cockpit and troop bay that isn't present on any visually identified Pelican models.
Though I do think we can pretty confidently say it isn't a 79 series, since it has an angular framed canopy instead of twin bubble.
Overall design would suggest it's closer to a 77 type but until we have more official info it basically amounts to just being an unidentified model.
I'm not into pelican models but, is it possible that this is an entirely new model
there's quite a time gap between infinite and h5
I think that's likely what it is, if it isn't some kind of upgraded D77.
Could also be a 75 from Oblivion if the UNSC is strapped for resources.
At the end of the day we won't know more until 343 gives us more info.

Why is primordial some kind of Hybrid of a gravemind and precurser?
Its a Precursor mutated to survive vast spans of time (a billion years at least).
It didn't resemble the Precursors as they appeared during the genocide by the Forerunners
It could shapshift to an extent and thus change its physical appearance
It did this between Cryptum and Primordium
Precursors in general were said to have changed into many forms, I don't even know if they have a singular "normal" form.
I've been really a lot into the halo lore right now and everything and oh boy that the flood and everything make me very curious
I imagine they are higher-dimensional beings
Given their age, and the comment about them having non-physical forms, you might be right that they weren't originally physical.
aren't precursors gods?
i keep saying precursers
Would give the Flood an interesting fallen god motif.
Yeah
We know what you mean
They have that now
Precursors basically equals God
Primordial/Gravemind equals Satan
Also Precursors are essentially vengeful gods now
Ok so honest question here, what is the deal with prometheans in Halo 4
I played through the whole game and didn't really think to question "who the hell are these guys"
gravemind are really scary i don't wanna see a keyminds
Keyminds are just any level of coordinated Flood intelligence
Gravemind would be the pinnacle of Keyminds, for example
That reclassification of keyminds was for the worse imo
@hexed sand Promotheans are Transformed Humans by the didact
I consider Keyminds as the planet sized Flood nodes and key minds as the HW2 definition
Makes it easier for me
with the recomposer
easier way of looking at it yeah
H4 was great imo
I just kept shooting the enemies and pushing the button
H4 was great yeah
BTW, Its called Composer, Harki
The gameplay is not great imo
yeah composer
When you get that reductive you've basically described every Halo game.
Just like me when i first played halo ce
Aren't most games just pushing buttons
but you had to push a button to shoot the enemies
No but I mean halo 4 had like a whole special animation for pushing big green puttons
fall of reach never forget
implying the other games weren't also a bunch of "kill enemies, reach objective, push button or defend point", rinse and repeat
What I mean but "kill enemies and push the button" is literally that
In the other games, they at least come up with interesting things for the objectives
yeah one more question i'm thinking about where is mendicant bias right now i know it got with the covenant at some times but right now where it is if anyone knows?
Unknown, but possibly dead.
would be sad if dead
I'd be interesting in seeing Mendicant go on an adventure in a Keyship with Colony
the number of things we could know about the flood with mb
Its possible a fragment of MB is on Zeta Halo but I would think the Forerunners removed it after taking back that ring in Primordium
a fragment?
Yeah
What do you mean?
There was a fragment of him on that ring.
Yes
He's an AI
He can inhabit many bodies
at once
The one on the ring was shut down and i would think removed from the ring after
i would think removed from the ring after
I think it was.
It would be logical
Hence i dont think it will be in Infinite
and all flood was apparently sterilized on it
the logic plague is also something very special that i can't understand like i know it can "infects" ai but how does it work?
So why are we going there in H6?
Logic plague is a term used for the many ways the Flood perpetuates itself
It changes to adapt to whatever suits flood's purpose
good to know
I'm guessing they'll get rid of the Infinity, but that particular Halo ring will eventually end up as "ours" by the end of the Campaign.
the halo seen in the trailer of infinity is zeta halo
yes
how it got destroyed
well guess we have to wait
How mendicant bias got corrupted mendicant is an ai how did he? like i can't understand
The Logic plague is transmitted through memes and complex information encoded in everything it says, and it's likewise implied that the same goes for any communication it has with organic life, too. It's somewhat implied that the Flood/Gravemind's utter malice and desire to corrupt is absolute.
Primordial used logic plague on him
It simply kept giving logical arguments to him endlessly
MB couldn't match wits with the Primordial
No AI or organic can
So
The logic plague is metaphysical at its core
It was persuaded by primordial's logic
Also Primordial may have hacked its core matrix non-physically
i'm realizing how pprimordial is powerful
the most intelligent ai
couldn't even mess with primordial
Its a being that has psychic/metaphysical abilities in addition to an incalculable intellect
what a fool i was when i thought that cortana ws the most intelligent ai
but does that mean
that primordial is still alive?
or it got wiped out
when the halos fired
the flood has a race memory that it links to every time a gravemind is formed. So it kinda still exists? Each new gravemind acquires that same knowledge.
Also on the topic of AI's I wonder how Precursors contrast to their knowledge engines like Abaddon.
Well I would think Abaddon could hold more knowledge then an indvidual precursor mind
I have to wonder if a Precursor AI is a machine or just a Precursor transcending its physical form ala Force Ghosts or Ascension like in Stargate
good question
Its hard to tell given the nature of Precursors and Neural Physics
Maybe we were the Precursors the whole time.
but trad does that mean the current gravemind alive have the knowledge of the primordial?
Yea
That is a theory some have about Precursors Trad
The we were Precursors the whole time thing
People actually think that lol?
Some think they could have just seeded their own extremely adaptive/mutative DNA on planets
