No no...you had it right the first time
Are we grammar checking now, Ostral?
Always imagines truth waking up, surrounded by furious covenant and humans
No, it’s not about grammar. 😋
It's about the humor
I’m lost
What humour.... This chat never makes me laugh... It’s always dull and full of big nerds talking about VERY SERIOUS lore. This thing you call humour is heresy of the highest kind.
...Really?
No, it’s called sarcasm
take care beast, what you say is heresy
I have been diagnosed with nerd
Oh I must have lagged or something
I said "...Really?" after Ado said there's a bright side to being flooded 😄
Well I guess it is eternal life of some sort
Let's be honest, if this chat room was a building, it would be a comedy club
Oh no. Not the lag.... I’m laaaaagggg...... innnnnggggg.....
Great, too much flood talk. The logic plague has set in
Ado, do you not mean fight club, instead of comedy club?
@inner basin why not both?
Touché
Hmm
Wonder if the covenant knew the fate of the infected
Vadimee clearly didnt, thinking his underlings were going on the great journey despite their flood fate
Ok here's one guys, what Flood direction would you prefer future Halo media takes:
The one where the Flood are Precursor-level powerful, and have been holding back in order to test Humanity for the mantle/some similar prank tactics that they pulled on the ancient humans and Forerunners?
Or the one where the flood are a shadow of the Precursors driven by revenge and want to kill all life they created, and they've been trying their very hardest to accomplish that post-Array Firing.
The latter, for me
^ I second that
Ditto
The idea of the precursors doing all this for humanity to gain the mantle.....yea
Both
I...I don't think the other races would be happy knowing that
Me too, I think they've been trying their hardest, and attribute their failures to their extreme arrogance, a legacy of the Precursors.
They never showed arrogance though
The former doesn’t seem plausible firstly, and secondly they are a corrupted version of what they used to be (could be a good explanation for why they can’t either)
That we k ow of
Who else would want another collection of halo short stories, like on explaining what happened to James-005 or his thought while he was just floating, maybe one of What buck did on reach during new Alexandria or hell even a chips Dubbo short story
Ur didact when thought the precursors o ly wanted to create
Eh..expand it out a bit more
I don't think watching james become a popsicle would make for great enterainment
I definitely think many of their actions have been made in arrogance, the Flood wanted the Forerunners to suffer.
Instead of just systematically infecting them.
@keen canopythe flood yes, not the precursors they once were though
Well they did that one short comic story about that ship dead in the water
Oh you're saying the Precursors didn't show arrogance?
Lemme get the name
They're The Precursors they're on such a different level
There is no way they consider themselves equals with the life they created
Well yea
The same way humans are arrogant when considering animal life
Black white vs green and brown morality
Will give you that
Idk about the gods part
They thought the universe itself was.a living being beyond their level
Undefeated (tales from slipspace)
@hasty locusthuh, ok?
You know what I mean lol
Yea
Look at this absolute bitter anger here:
Our urge to create is immutable; we must create. But the beings we create shall never again reach out in strength against us. All that is created will suffer. All will be born in suffering, endless grayness shall be their lot. All creation will tailor to failure and pain, that never again shall the offspring of the eternal Fount rise up against their creators. Listen to the silence. Ten million years of deep silence. And now, whimpers and cries; not of birth. That is what we bring: a great crushing weight to press down youth and hope. No more will. No more freedom. Nothing new but agonizing death and never good shall come of it. We are the last of those who gave you breath and form, millions of years ago. We are the last of those your kind defied and ruthlessly destroyed. We are the last Precursors. And now we are legion."
Every time I read that I can taste it on my tongue
Taste?
Which boggles my mind
They are these uber powerful beings, and throw a hissy fit
The bitterness settle
I’d say that’s a bit more that bitter anger, eezy
Hey if I was sooooo powerful and got driven to extinction by some angry forerunner boys I would be pretty pissed too
Its...just madness
That's the thing
Toys
It's like a human being pissed at a germ
Toys?
Well compare it to the bible for example, where the god comes to earth and experiences suffering and death and forgives everyone yada yada
Every living being is like a toy to the Precursors, is what Ado was trying to say, I think, settling
Well if a disease or “germ” brought us to near extinction, I would hate said germ
The point being normal mortal life is so far, far below these guys, who have seeded galaxies for billions of years.
if Jesus was a precursor he'd get back to heaven and then decide to turn everything to hell
It feels petty of the Precursors to get in their feelings
I dont think that matches perfectly, but I get the gist
You created life, live with the consequences
The only ones to rebel.....
No other race that was told by the precursors that they would not inherent a mantle just what shrug their shoulders
and suceed
They must’ve had a real distaste for humanity to rebel against the Precursors for the sole reason of humanity being given the Mantle
True, others were likely erased before
Mythos says the forerunners found that out by accident
And that started theirs
Imagine. Had that never gotten out Halo as we know it, would’ve never happened. All the civilisations would be completely different
Yep, well maybe
More specifically the main thing about Halo, the Installations themselves would’ve never happened, more than likely
Everyone would still be here. Just not in our current civilizations.
Well unless the Forerunners did go on a rampage after humanity was given the Mantle
Although you would have humanity in charge of the galaxy with the mantle
^ Which could also be dangerous in itself
Well no, forerunners would have be erased
Oh yeah, I keep forgetting about that because it wasn’t done when they did go on a murderous rampage (against the Precursors)
Yep
The precursors didn’t fight back at all
They were amazed by what their creations were doing
But the turned to anger obviously
And they decided to hibernate for billions of years
And in their hibernation, they became corrupted into the Flood
Millions @inland matrix
Indeed, everything would've been fine if Ancient Humanity hadn't accidently brought them back from the dead.
Eh someone would have goofed somewhere down the line
...likely humanity still
Bit they were just fine before
Kinda
Just noticed something interesting on the Halo war 2 DLC
They entire time voridus and his brutes were fighting the flood, that scarab was active the whole time
Used to think it had been forced to shut down or killed the colony inside it
Hmm... why not just fire at the enemies below, even if some of it is friendly fire. Would’ve saved them trouble in the long run
The Brute forces down by the entrance clearly couldn’t handle the flood forces flowing out of High Charity
Probably because their commander was down there no?
Likely worth the loss
He was the idiot who opened it, after his chieftain told him not too, and his brother told hin not too multiple times
Domt see him returning in any future.material
He may now appear in future material, but if he was to be killed off then, I doubt anyone would’ve REALLY cared. I mean at that point he was a nobody
It's implied a crew is recommended but like a lot of Halo vehicles, it can still be solo crew
The Banished one that is
Aren’t Scarabs made up of the same thing as Hunters? Or am I wrong? Because if that is the thing then could it technically pilot itself?
Aren’t Scarabs made up of the same thing as Hunters?
Ye
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ICfbc39KqmI&feature=em-uploademail The History of Emile's skull and Noble Team's TOP SECRET Counter-Insurrection Operations
I don’t remember Xperia being so clickbaity
I mean... The video does explain both of those things...
What sources does he give?
Fistful of arrows
Not canon
True, but ive heard 343 was planning on publishing it.
....I don’t think they can?
It's still not Canon however
are there any explorer vessel or dedicated people discovering the universe like in trek?
true, though both 343 and bungie have acknowledged it over the years as if it were canon, all 343 has to do is say its canon at this point.
Pretty much
Maybe the creator wants credit? Who knows
Btw, have we been a covenant shotgun yet? Not counting the mauler as that's brute tech
imo the energy sword and gravity hammer fill that category. A short range weapon that does devastating damage vs players.
That and vice versa can be applied to the shotgun coz it fills the role of melee weapons on the side of the UNSC
I just find it kind of absurd that the sangheili could have gotten all the way to making plasma weaponry, but s shotgun never appears
Maybe it has something to do with honour and culture i.e. if you’re that close to your opponent then use your physical strength against theirs
Maybe
Which would give some nice added lore to the energy sword imo
They did t have the energy sword though before the covenant was made, they had curve bladed
And burn blades
This reminds me of a Shotgun in a sense https://www.halopedia.org/Type-50_concussion_rifle
ik, what I meant by that is that in a way they’ve managed to preserve their old honour and culture through newer methods
Always saw the concussion rifle as a clearing weapon sure, but it doesnt fill an area like a shotgun
You’d be more likely to hurt yourself if you were to use it like a shotgun
True
One pretty much a grenade .launcher with plasma
The repeater...bungie did day it's the assautlt rifle of the covenant
@versed helmconcussion too
I wouldn't put the storm in the same page
Its only good at very close range
And yes, to me the plasma rifle will ialways be that. That's what. Bungie said thoufh
The plasma launcher?
Welcome
It is
It was. Nice
Indeed it did
Does anyone have an explanation for the promethean soldiers? I know the knights are organics turned robot, but what are the soldiers?
AI
Specifically Armiegers (Please tell if I spelt that right)
Armiger, I think
Ah, thanks
Well if the forerunners had ai robots to fight the flood, then why did they need knights?
well for one thing, the Promethean knights weren't exactly an effective way of combating the Flood
at the macro level
The Forerunners were losing and the Ur-Didact didn't like the idea of using Halos, so he created the Promethean constructs
yeah
I forgot about the logic plague
Wonder if the covenant ever encountered the logic plague or a gravemind before
Or if f they learned if them purely from forerunner records
records
Logic plague requires a Gravemind and as far as we know, the I05 Gravemind is the first the covenant have come into contact with
Guess so until we know if the covenant ever faced a gravemind level outbreak before
Dark Magic
Yo, I’ve been getting back into Halo recently due to Reach being added into MCC and wanted to know if Halo Legends was cannon?
Ok thanks
I still say the duel was visually canon as well
Just for the sheer awesomeness of it
I still say the duel was visually canon as well```
No thanks
Actually especially no thanks on that one. 😋
Ok correction, the action, visual action
That's acceptable
I won't have you branded for heresy yet
I thank you my liege
Since Los Angeles still exists in the Halo universe, does that mean Hollywood still exists?
If it does, the halo movie still will not have been made yet
gg
@versed helm Is spartan 1337 from the anime parody lol?
odd one out halo legends
Aww yea the dbz parody was so stupid
it was fun
I liked the mech one more
the prototype?
@fair hazel I think dont remember the epidsode name since it was so long ago. All I remember was that it was the epidsode where one marine goes on a rampage against the covenant to avenge a fallen marine
With a mech of course
more depth than that but, The Prototype
wait who is 1337
imma look it up 😄
oh there isn't much on him
._.
anyways i have a question. does the unsc have a version of the energy sword?
Spartan 1337 is the non-canon character from odd one out.
There's the energy bayonet.
Wasnt that also in the halo mmo
Halo Titan was it?
Wonder how it would've been like if it had been released.
No clue
Forerunners were gonna be playable though
Spartans marines and other aliens
But no Sangheili...
They might have, but never hard. Saw they were enemies though
Yeah I saw concept art of a guy in active Camo about to kill a zealot
This is a halo 5 thing
Yeah it is
The bayonet
Also not having slow mode is such a relief in This channel lol
@fair hazeljuat reminded me of the titan one
Just a little theory, what if mendicant bias was using Cortanas form to get close with the master chief to manipulate him into fighting for him, he is known across the universe as the greatest fighter after all and the librarian sort of planned for his existence, it would restore some of the damage halo 5 made to cortanas death as she’d now be considered dead
Plus mendicant bias could finally be introduced properly in a main line halo game!
https://www.halopedia.org/Energy_Bayonet @fair hazel may help to provide context friend 😉 Not everyone looks at uploaded file names.
Wish we had more lore on it however.
It just exists...
Well I can probs get more images of the weapons its on.
Maybe an image where we see all the bayonet weapons at once would be nice.
The bayonet is one of my favourite attachments lore/story wise
Honestly it'd be interesting to me if they somehow made kinetic bolts + energy bayonet and hard light shield the default master chief equipment, or something like that
which is also my favourite boomco weapon..
Nice looking Shotgun I wont lie
OOHH Discord fixed the ) issue.
I really want to see more armour abilities and attachments in various halo media
Again
What do you mean
All the little floaty bits on the corners and such
That's the concept art I posted
Yeah I prefer that over the ingame one
I like halo escalation making use of the armour abilities.
There is floaty bits. But not as much as the in-game one.
Sure it looks nicer but, it sorta leaves gaps in the concept art
In game just looks like a tiny floaty bit at the top and bottom
This moment is my favourite hard light shield usage in halo.
That Palmer?
Yes.
I would like to see in game elites wielding a sword with some kind of shield wether it be a round jackal one or like the h4 hard light one I think it would look coolios
Exactly
That’s that comic (forgot its name) where Rtas loses his mandible right
Takes place during Ce with the Like garden ship and the prophet and the flood
Last Voyage of the infinite succor
Yes
Lol
Good thing the first halo comic wasn't named. Halo Comic.
Ha
I really like the DSC-class
Was that the type os ship the garden ship is?
Two hunting domes which serve as training areas, recreational zones, cloisters of worship, and animal paddocks.
Do I hear talk of covenant things?
the san'shyuum did really keep those ships exclusive though
honestly it'd be nice to see one of these pop up and sorta serve as the center piece of operational power of a post-war faction
Would be nice, some ex covenant group that ends up like the red cross, going from system to system to help old covenant worlds
Mhm
you know how the halo multiplayer is supposedly a 'war games' simulation?
i like to think the campaigns are also simulations too, where they're like a retelling of what happened
that explains the different difficulties and the differences between each playthrough, and also explains some continuity issues (like CE vs The Flood, CE having very few weapons and halo 2 having no assault rifle)
The campaigns are literally just gameplay.
I suppose it kind of works, seeing as we have Spartan Assault and Spartan Strike as actual examples of past missions simulated, but stuff that’s there because of gameplay is literally just gameplay.
Think only halo 2A was what could count as that
As it appears to be a re telling from thel
How strong is Atriox by himself? Could he be comparable to Chief or the Arbiter (Thel), below, or above?
He's probably a lot stronger physically than them
I wouldn’t be surprised if Atriox mopped the floor with Chief and Thel, he looks so intimidating compared to a lot of past enemies that Chief has gone against
Idk, in cut content, thel took on the brutes holding johnson in halo 2 solo
Truthfully though would depend on the situation
well, it got far enough to be animated
If you want a better example, a commando sangheili took on chief after the alpha halo battle
Johnson shot his rifle full auto into the commander's back while the guy sawed through chief's armor with a sword
The sangheili only grunted and kept going
Not anymore
Where the brutes more efficient than the elites when they took over?
Or did it stay the same?
No no, Atriox is dumb muscle as well. 😏
When Chief first encountered a brute, it was stated that it moved as fast as him while also implying that it was faster than an elite, does that mean brutes are not only stronger than elites but faster as well?
The covenant survived 3400 years with sangheili
My bad
It survived a month with brutes
I got a lot of questions
I think Broken Circle has an Elite that's faster than his Brute opponent
So it varies
And they jumped the gap without having to use thrusters like the SIVs
happy worting
With one SIV noting that the Elites were like bullets compared to himself
But are any faster than K?
Maybe some
Somewhere
Elites have their own K somewhere
Man imagine having an entire race as strong as spartans and still losing lmao
The covenant were technologically advanced yet they never made their own versions of the spartans, I know they had a group (or groups) that would ambush them and kill them
Man imagine having an entire race as strong as spartans and still losing lmao
Lose what?
Hmm i guess the covenant managed to not win long enough that they lost
@gilded masoneveryone thinks the covenant/sangheili lost the war
And the Elites kinda beat the Covenant for the humans.
Ah
The Sangheili technically won the war with the humans against the covenant
@lunar condoryou do know humans didnt win either right?
Ok that also answered another question I had
I mean humans and sangheili are still around cant say the same about the covenant as a whole that counts as a win for me
Humans, elites, and the flood basically ended the covenant lol
Mostly the sangheili
Indeed
The elites look so intimidating yet they get beat badly by Spartans
It irritates me
The Inverse Ninja rule
Some elites could definitely hold their own against Spartans tho
Makes me lament the old lore, that had sangheili as the best navy/army after the war while humanity was busy recovering
Honor
Also: gameplay
Why did knights and samurai get swords but not Joe the peasent?
Exactly
Shame on joe
Well, nobles can only get energy swords in civilian settings
In the military, it's all fine
I dunno. Ask France, Spain, Rome, etc
Well minors cant wield them...though seems lore forgot that
Too young and lack of experience
You going to give the sword to the trained commander, or the eager minor?
Majors can apparently wield them
Major on up
Gameplay.
For the very reason they are for higher ups
And that
Not horribly often, when they do appear usually by high ranks
The commando who fought john, major Thel 'Lodamee, fleetmaster Voro Nar 'Mantakree, characters from modern day broken circle, to name a few
Oh, thel's minors did too
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kyne4UORaw4&feature=em-uploademail Spartan II's father searched 30+ YEARS for her (HEARTBREAKING ENDING) - Halo Lore
Afaik if thats from the kilo-five trilogy it wasnt even a heartbreaking ending
Maybe bittersweet
Anyone want a weird piece of trivia? 😄
The modification package to the latest revision of the M6 pistol series: The M6G PDWS.
The Halo 3 M6G (and I am referring about the Halo 3 version) is more a modification package to the latest revision than a actual M6G itself.
This would in theory allow the M6C branding to be on it. Via either the og weapon being a M6C or the modification package using M6C parts.
does anyone know how big the post war unsc navy is
like 5 years after the end of the war
@obsidian sapphire It did expand rapidly with the adaption of Forerunner tech.... I would assume maybe the size of the peak war fleet before harvest
The addition of Autumn class ship and The Infinity bolstered the UNSC navy immensly
@versed helm That one they linked is HaloFollower
Just out of interest - does High Altitude Low Opening have anything to do with halo?
HALO jumps are sometimes performed by Spartans or ODSTs
casue i like to share Halo new and im big Halo fan @versed helm
that one was HALO FOLLOWER video
english isnt your first language is it @sleek star
english is MY ONLY language @wicked pasture
me no englac
HaloFollower is known to get facts wrong in his video, which isn't great when its news or you're trying to introduce the lore to someone new
To this day I still haven’t gotten over the fact that he consistently pronounced Emile-A239’s name like “Emily”.
Ew
how do you mess that up
I don't mean to bash, but his channel is the only place I have heard "recession" pronounced "rekession"
Oh no. Emile is a French name.
On a scale of 1-10
Probably 4
He isnt a psycho
Imagine Emile as the Halo equivalent the Punisher
He's just very angry his family died
And uses that as a catalyst in war
I don't think they have a scale on how much of a psychopath someone is
Well he asked "how high" so I put on a scale
Otherwise no, there really isnt a scale for how psychopathic someone is
A psychopath is someone with a complete lack of empathy
Emile doesn’t completely lack empathy
At least not with other Spartans
He lacks empathy towards his enemies/covenant and insurgents, which isn’t necessarily unexpected. Most of not all III’s would lack empathy towards Covenant, seeing as how they lost everything because of them.
The Spartan-IIIs are unable to humanise their enemies due to how much they’ve lost. Most if not all were described as vengeful orphans.
He also butt heads with Jorge who is basically Emile's polar opposite. Rather than being a vengeful spirit hellbent on leaving his opponents drowning in a pool of their own blood, Jorge is more of the gentle giant with his motivation to fight being to protect his fellow humans.
Jun too
He still doesn’t like the Covenant though. If we were to go off a Fistful of Arrows as canon (which is all but confirmed as canon with some 343 employees seeing it as canon I believe), Emile and Jorge just bantered back and forth a bit more than being antagonistic to each other.
That section in Winter Contingency was however a genuine clash as Jorge was a bit more sensitive about the girl losing her father but Emile didn’t view it as such. At least that’s my interpretation of the bigger picture
True
A fistful of arrows is definitely not canon
Not saying it is canon as of this point. But there were plans to make it canon years ago (which unfortunately fell through), but some people in the 343 office consider it canon, Bungie said it years ago too, and it fits in the canon perfectly.
And again, I’m not saying it is canon, like I said above. But even so, it sounds like an accurate depiction of the two Spartans in that book. I just wish 343 would make it canon in the future
Heard of the sequel? For A Few Arrows More
I have heard of it, but not read it
And then the other sequel, The Good, The Bad, and The Dinos
Which is why he isn’t
Don’t think so
But then spartan IVs aren’t leaving their identities behind to become Spartans
So I wonder what the highest spartan number is 🤔 there were 300 Spartans in beta and alpha companies so that’s up to 450, so how many were in gamma?
In gamma alone?
Dang
So highest spartan would be G770
Whoops G780
Wouldn’t the numbers reset with the new class
Well Emile was A2 something, something
A239
And I think they had 150 in alpha
And 150 in beta
No, 300 in Alpha and Beta
I’m pretty confident they did
Training companies were larger than 300 tho
Thanks for clearing that up for me
And numbers were based on training company size, not final company size
If you go to Gammas, they have 001-330 in their tags instead of 601-930
Okey dokey
The numbers reset
Donk, it’s a good read imo, but that’s because I love S-III lore
I’m re-reading everything this year before infinite
The highest Spartan III would actually be from Alpha Company
I’m on first strike (started at fall of reach)
At least potentially, as they had 497 candidates.
Yeah
Crazy how they had to relegate over 197 candidates
In before they reveal the secret “omega company” that’s been hidden all this time
Most of them became DI’s/the companies seemingly had more than 300 assigned to them
Yeah I am aware of that, Canadian, but it’s still crazy
I think a rough estimate of how many were augmented from Alpha and Beta was 350 or so, each.
Maybe 325.
Wouldn’t the resetting cause confusing cause in the reach game they are sometimes mentioned as s-???
No
I guess they are all dead though
In cases like that you’d use their letter prefix
Spartan 3s used they’re full designation
They had the letters in after the Sierra, settling
^ It would be S-B312
Sure
If you included the “Spartan” in front
Point is, he wouldn’t forget the B
Carter is mentioned as Sierra-259 but more then likely G-259 and B-259 are dead
At one point
One moment please
Colonel Holland
He’s referring to Dot in the PoA opening cutscene too
I’d chalk that up to production error
B-259 I definitely think is
Or due to their being no other S-259’s in the operational area
Well, technically Kat and Six might have appeared in Ghosts of Onyx, just unnamed.
All of Noble bar Jorge did, actually
Well.....yeah
Yes, that is Noble Six
Yes, it does Donk, I didn’t say it doesn’t
Likely during that training exercise where Tom and Lucy and the rest of Beta ambush the DI’s. Unless he was knocked out beforehand.
No, I just call him 6 for short
He’s simply saying Spartan B-312 is Noble Six, the player character.
But yeah, all of Noble appeared during Ghosts, they were just unnamed.
He has to have, yes.
When Kurt first addressed all of Alpha
He’d be there
He would be, considering he was training in Alpha. He died in April, 2552 (the same year as the event TFoR)
I wonder how many spartan 3’s are left
Every Alpha Spartan we know of, Hazel and Carter and their BS ages ncluded
I’ve gotten the count to about 331 @hasty locust
As of 2553
331, mostly gamma right
I wonder if those other fireteams mentioned at the end of new Alexandria survived
There are also Spartan-III Headhunters active post-war, but we don’t have a count, just know there are some
may be fairer to say that all of noble team was present during events of GoO, rather than actually in the book
Well, we know one member did @hasty locust Kevin A-282.
Except Jorge, Chimera
Which team he was with we don’t know.
Interesting
sure, except jorge
Rest in pepperonis
Didn’t Owen deploy with a team on Meridian, Canadian?
I believe he mentions it briefly, but yeah the above could be plausible
Outpost discovery Owen?
Well, he said it alongside answering how long the Covenant had been there, which we later learn was a lie.
Yes, settling
Yes
Halo: Battle Born
Battle Born and Meridian Divide @hasty locust
(Meridian Divide following Battle Born)
K, I’ll look into it thanks
Fireteam Raven is canon, Donk, except for the Chief cameo
^^^
He was elsewhere at that time
Because he wouldn’t have been there at the time
Same with the Ring Experience in Outpost
The Spartan at the end is a random IV or III
With the one at the end, judging from the PoA ship schematics, where Raven came from wasn’t actually a place you could come from, it was a wall
No
A Proto-Gravemind was beginning to form
Shh
Well
Be happy we got them
In the terminal “Keyes” the Gravemind actually speaks, meaning the Proto-Gravemind has connected to the wider collective.
food juggernauts
delicious
Yeah considering there a flood pureform, they shouldn’t be able to be a thing until a Gravemind is formed
A couple of Gutas latched onto the side of the PoA, survived slipspace, then got onto alpha halo and got infected into juggernauts. Duh
the gravemind on I05 had been around for centuries
maybe more
it just wasn't anywhere near the events of CE
That’s the main issue
Couldn’t a juggernaut be kind of like a carrier, not a pure form but still not resembling any species we know of
Yes
Works
And they decided to keep it cause, why not
Could be a flood mobile base
Like an elephant
So it’s just a hive with legs
Okay I found out that apparently Flood Juggernauts don’t need a Gravemind, but rather only a Proto considering how one was in the Mona Lisa (which I forgot about), unless that’s another misstep
So it could just be like a carrier form
Glue a couple of humans and covenant together
Just the way carrier forms are specialised, the Juggernauts are too, a specialised combat form to be exact
Yeah it says on halopedia it’s a bunch of people glued together by infection forms
Juggernauts are highly specialized combat forms directed by a seething mass of infection forms linked to multiple hosts. The creature harnesses the hosts' minds to analyze enemy activity and adjust the local Flood strategy accordingly. They have some of the traits associated with full-fledged key minds, including the abilities to synchronize nearby parasites and relay information between distant Flood hordes.
So they are mobile voltron flood bases
However, whereas the Juggernaut was to be controlled by infection forms, pure forms are created entirely from Flood biomass.
It says that^ also
I like ATN
But yeah, people at 343 wanting to make it canon doesnt mean they consider it canon [being canon]
Still makes a good discussion point about a FFoA, but yeah I am aware that argument isn’t the best justification, erick
awakening the nightmare
Ah, ok thanks
Can I just ask if we have any material coming out expanding into the Spartan-II program’s candidates, particularly Spartan-116?
I ask this because someone on Waypoint was saying that this Spartan is their favourite Spartan in the universe (in a reply to one of my polls) and I was wondering if I am missing something. I couldn’t find anything on Halopedia either.
All I found on 116 on Halopedia is this:
The status of candidates 116, 118, 119, 121, 123, and 124 after September 10, 2517 is unknown
That’s all I saw too so I had to ask in case Halopedia hadn’t updated on any material. Thanks for the clarification Ostral. Hmm... I assume his response will be... interesting.
lol
wait, were the vehicle crosshairs always centered in the halo games?
Don’t know what that has to do with the lore unless a topic relating to the HUD was going to come in as a follow up.
Human or sangheili hud? Chief and others seem to have a canon hud based off things like the package
The motion tracker, shield, at the very least.
But the in-game HUD lacks stuff the EU has.
Yea, dont think those have ever appeared oddly enough
Like being able to look at the top right and see who’s alive, or if they are fighting etc
TEAMBIO as well
Or top left
That’s canon
Also canon
Those are probably not canon
But the human ones would be. By the time of the games so would the Covenant.
I just don’t think it’s very practical though, like what’s the point
Unless it was some kind of system to show the diagnostic of said weapon, like if it would turn red as it heats, etc
Maybe Mjolnir scans the weapon being held by the user to give the weapon outline a canonical reason. I doubt that’s the case, but food for thought?
So Jackals can speak English in Halo 5?
I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing?
It’d make sense. Every other race can.
Jackals have been able to speak English prior to 2558. I’m pretty sure they were able to speak English in 2535 since they were trading with humans on the Rubble in that year. Ofc this was a covert plan by Truth to get the humans to reveal humanity’s home planet to him I believe.
Though jackals were always weird
That they were
Although, a jackal version of treasure island would be funny
What weapons did the San'Shyuum use during the War of Wills and the War of Beginnings? Did they alter the Sentinel Aggressors during their war with the elites? What weapons did members below the Hiearchs have?
I wanna see a picture of a burnblade
@simple locustduring the war of wills, its implied they used basaltic weaponry like humanity. Against sangheili, pulse rifle weaponry and sentinels. Far as we know, these sentinels were not altered outside of being able to communicate with san shyuum "eye" probes. Normal san shyuum had gravity cannon weapons in their chairs, but far weaker then the hierarchs.
@versed helmbelive thr best we have are curve blades, only difference being one was capable of generating heat while the other was just a normal blade
The jackal goonies
@hasty locust jackal sparrow
Lol
oh whoops i accidentally posted the hud question in here
i thought i was in #644651849647128606, i forgot my last post was in this room, sorry
@terse lava Is there a description for how the Pulse Rifle looked or handled? Also I'm an unfamiliar with basaltic weapons, are the stone weapons or similar to swords? Also are the normal San Shyuum chairs based on other covenant weapons such as the canons regret has are similar to those of the hunters so is there a weapon equivalent to their chair weapon?
Maybe he means ballistic weaponry, but typo’d?
Yep typo
Just normal bullet weapons. As for the chairs, I am unsure. Mgalekgolo cannons fire a gel, where the chair's weapons are only called "gravity cannons."
@terse lava OK thank you. Also is there info on how the pulse rifle looked or handled? Also in Halo Wars 1 the prophet starts off with plasma rifles before his cannons. Also do you know what weapons Stewards had?
No pictures? Regret does start off with plasma weaponry and later fuel, but no gravity cannon there. None could say though lesser san shyuum may have that plasma weapon though. As for the final one, pulse rifles
We know English was used when talking with Johnson
As for chief, and after defeating tartarus, who knows?
@terse lava I assumed he had the rifles just on his chair since they have the same sound but it is neat. Also what weapons did the elites use in their early wars before joining the covenant and their war with the Prophets?
So who or what was this "prisoner" that taught the Ussans a form of meditation?
@terse lava Also were you intending original to say more about the Pulse Rifles or is there no information about how the look and function? It seems in you end mid sentence in "As for the final one, pulse rifles
" unless I missed something.
@versed helmno one knows
@simple locustnothing else, no clue what they looked like. My last comment was answering you on what weaponry they used
Depleted uranium rounds
@terse lava Also what were the combat difference between the reformists and the stoics?
Think the only thing we know there was that their technolgy was similar at the time
does anyone know what the covenant thougt of the humans
i know some elite's respected the humans but what about the rest of the covenant
yeah but like post war
Opinions varied, some liked, some tolerated, some hated
I read somewhere on one of the wikis that some elites migrated to earth to seek political asylum
some even suggested the humans into the covenant
Would you believe me if I said that Halo is a multiverse?
Ik it's not canon, but what if it was?
Then every alternate form of Halo would be canon
And it would explain many plot holes in the Halo universe
It would honestly seem legit to be canon
What do you think bout this, peeps?
Keep the multiverse stuff in DC. I don’t want alternate timeline anything in Halo
and ben 10 lol
How fast could a spartan bike in full armor, on a bicycle designed to support their weight?
Asking the real questions today.
As fast as the bike can move. They’d be restricted by the bikes top speed.
And is that top speed anywhere near a Spartan's running top speed?
This is hard to calculate because there isn't a consistent relationship between run speed and cycling speed.
Using the multiverse to explain plot holes isn't the right way of using the multiverse @versed helm
Multiverse stories are used to give alternate takes on events we've already seen where things happen differently due to one or more factors
Besides, all those other universes are drained before life develops
Speaking of bicycles,do motorcycles still exist in the Halo universe?
...Why wouldn’t they?
It would be odd if they suddenly forgot what motorbikes were in universe
Like, the Mongoose is a quadbike so it would be logical that motorbikes exist as well
Obviously we need to take the casual approach.
If we don’t see it it doesn’t exist anymore.
we would have seen the grackle in the mmo but they canceled it
HW2 also had the Jackrabbit, which is... basically a motorcycle.
Plus Ruwan Ackerson was still running around in an old Pontiac GTO in the 26th century so even if motorcycles were outmoded by something, there’s bound to be some niche group that still swears by them.
tricycle
Hell yeah, UNSC iguana tactical 3 wheeled peddled reconnaissance vehicle
So what is average San'Shyuum lifespan?
is the unsc capable of time travel?
No
Short answer "No".
@versed helm few hundred years. Ancient ones though were far longer, a leader among them managed to live for 10,000 years
Long answer: The only case of time travel sent fragments of a broken AI (and other data related stuff) back to 2004. This however was an accident and a fluke
And the only explaination of what type of Timetravel it is, is an annoyingly vague tweet from frankie that doesnt explain it. Bar "it happened".
Wasn't that the whole I Love Bees thing?
Yea pretty sure
Yep. It be canon. But this is the closest we have to any explation on its timetravel.
https://twitter.com/franklez/status/1213565956535902208?s=19
@cia391 Well I suppose even in loose framing it depends if you believe that each (per wave function collapse? Or non trivial event?) outcome branches a new reality or not. Or whether you consider the fiction of ILB, this reality, and the game fiction to be branches/outcome...
That was in response to me trying to work out what sorta timetravel it was. In short it has no answer atm.
Either its closed loop (aka the Timetravel always happened)
Or its open and new timelines are created.
How old was Mercy when he died?
About 220
Sucks that he died
Well he was certainly no saint
True
hello
Heck, 3400 years of covenant history, and mercy was still part of a group that thought it was wrong to decommission the keyship
Greetings @vast mortar
what we talking about
San shyuum
alright
Speaking of San'Shyuum...is Janjur Qom still around or what?
Unknown, but possibly
Iirc, didn't it say that the Reformists lied about its destruction?
Eyup
San shyuum who studied the plasma ball warming their home had concluded the thing was near the end
what ever happened to the prophet of rhyme 👀
If Janjur Qom is around and that is a big if,would that mean that the Stoics are still around?
And what about the Prophet of Swag?
Lost a rap battle to the sangheili fieldmaster of swag @versed helm
would that mean that the Stoics are still around?
They might, but 3000 years is a long time for culture to change.
Indeed
indeed rhyme didnt even know how to rhyme, ironic.
Maybe they are tier 2 now... but who knowa
Where in the galaxy is the San'Shyuum home system?
We actually dont know
Even if we used our own (which isnt canon to Halos) we dont know
It did say that their home system is somewhat similar to the Sol System
That doesn't mean it would be close to ours though
Is Chips Dubbo still alive?
the real question you should be asking is Did he ever really exist in the first place
Well his canonical status is up in the air so to speak
I think 343 should address which events he did canonically take part in, as well as which ones his voice can be heard in, but it wasn’t actually his character. The main issues for this is the Battle of Installation-04 and the Battle of Installation-05, respectively.
This issue follows suit for Stacker too. Is he an ODST or a regular Marine? He keeps switching the BDU he is wearing. He also has made an appearance in the battles listed above, but how did he and Chips escape both? People speculate there was another craft that escaped 04, and that the Elites brought the humans back on 05, but eh, idk...
Wasn't Chips in ODST too?
Don’t think so. We’ve never seen him as an ODST in any game. We only know Stacker as an ODST due to “A Day at the Beach” cinematic cutscene.
This was made by Bungie back in the day I believe, but was remastered by 343 along with H2A
ooooo a Marcus Stacker mention
my favourite thing ever
We’ve never seen him as an ODST in any game. We only know Stacker as an IDST due to “A Day at the Beach” cinematic cutscene.
@inner basin He appears as an ODST Sergeant twice in the games. In Delta Halo alongside John, and also on the Ark in the generator assault.
We know ODST's can suit up as regular Marines.
Also there's no definitive evidence Stacker was actually ever on Installation 04 at all.
Since we have an almost concrete placing of him in New Alexandria as Kilo 40, he would have had only a week to make his way to another continent, and somehow end up aboard the Pillar of Autumn during it's extremely brief touchdown on the planet.
100% of his Scripted dialogue in Halo CE belongs to other characters canonically, and he's not listed in the game's credits as a character, while Chips Dubbo is.
That’s why his canonical status can be dubious at best
For some events it most certainly is
He's named in Another Day at the Beach. The vidoc showed internal documentation of each character's in-universe names.
And his is "Stacker"
Installation-05? We gonna just forget that he was supposedly present there?
He was, who does Arbiter rescue at the end of Great Journey?
Three people, the same people, every time. The three sergeants from Halo 2: Johnson, Banks and Stacker.
Well no, Johnson was the only Marine in the Scarab, Arbiter was in the Banshee and Miranda was with Tartarus in the control room. We don’t see the other Marines leave
How do you know Johnson was the only Marine in the Scarab?
Stacker and Banks are standing right there, the cutscene happens, and after the cutscene they're not there.
Well that’s just assuming they are in there.
You're right that we can't assuming they're in the Scarab
But we can't assume they're not either.
Which is why it can be dubious at times
Not every little thing needs to be explained haha
We still don't know how Jun escaped Reach
Well we do
Or how Thomas Chang escaped Installation-04
We don't know that he did escape.
Well he supposedly did
There’s speculation of him escaping on a different craft of sorts, maybe a stolen Phantom?
I haven't been talking about speculation
Stacker wasn’t at Installation-04, at least if we’re going off what eezy said
Dubious @hasty locust
Anyhow beast, a better example is how stacker survived the quarantine zone
343 should bring him back just for some dialogue with buck, so he can say something like “brings you back to delta, eh chief” and buck objects saying he saw him in Mombasa
Because once he's saved with Johnson, getting back to earth from I-05 is smooth sailing.
It is smooth sailing cause the other events are pretty clearly outlined. The UNSC troops weren’t massacred at I-00, but were at I-05 because of the Flood (same with I-04 but Melissa did some damage to the forces there too)
We know he wasn't captured with Miranda and Johnson, but we also know from those Marines John broke out that the Covenant took other prisoners to High Charity
Maybe we shouldn’t stereotype and every Aussie isn’t the same person
Or chip’s is a top secret ONI cloning program in the Australian city of Dubbo
The presence of Banks & Stacker make me speculate that Truth kept the leaders together for extra questioning/to reduce risk of escape
Ah, okey
I always thought Banks was killed by the Scarab on Earth before IAC follows Regret to I-05
But I know he actually isn’t dead, it just gives that impression
As for your theory, it’s plausible
We knew Truth did a lot of covert activities behind the other Hierarchs back’s
Keeping the leaders separate from the prisoners seems logical anyway
Maybe...
But it is a BIG grey area rn
The canonical status of people and the surrounding events happening on I-05 aren’t crystal clear per say, but it can be explained through speculation for now
You wanna hear a possible explanation?
I've thought about this long ago, I just can't put it on the wiki obviously
Didn’t the covenant not use to take prisoners? What changed their minds?
Truth needing reclaimers to fire the rings.
Never thought you were a Wiki writer even though anyone can be one
everyone should be one 😛
Misinformed people shouldn’t, that’s when you get “shrek was a world war hero, fighting in both wars with a KD of 1000.739 due to his Mountain Dew obsession”
But that’s sick, that you’re a wiki writer
The position outside the Library had machine gun turrets set up, and dozens of marine combat forms. This means that Johnson and Miranda actually arrived to the Library with a significant force. As Arbiter, we hear Stacker on radio, so we know that he's present in the Quarantine Zone. Seeing as he's alive the most obvious explanation would be that he linked up with other forces and made it to the Library.
There were a bunch of flood around the Library, and Arbiter's platform was only seconds behind the Humans'. It's far too much Flood for Johnson, Miranda, Mkenzie and Perez to handle alone. So it's probable there were many more marines aboard the humans' platform. As it leaves only moments before the Arbiter witnesses no human survivors at the encampment, that means Stacker was likely aboard the platform.
Johnson entered the Library with Miranda, took two marines to cover the door, and left everyone else to guard the platform for their escape. The platform was overrun quickly so the surviving marines abandoned the platform and retreated inside the Library. Stacker, Banks, and the marines John rescues in Gravemind were possibly this bunch, captured by Tartarus and his brutes, at Truth's orders.
That’s a good analysis
Anyhow I think Halo 2 would make an amazing movie
It would. I mean H2A's cutscenes work wonderfully for a CGI Halo film
Imagine if we got to know the Marines a bit better, then have to watch them die to flood, then a few seconds later watch the Arbiter and Rtas' show up and slice them all to pieces
Halo 2 would make a sick movie, or ce’s novilisation
I don’t call it the flood as often cause people get confused
@keen canopythat makes a whole lot of sense.
Piecing things together from limited information is half the fun of being a lore fan am I right
Yes and the speculation
Correct
Come to think of it
How did thel, Johnson, and miranda get to earth?
Used to think just some random sangheili vessel, yet we never hear of it helping the battle
Well in awakening the nightmare cutscenes they are punching and squishing the infection forms but in the flood they are being pierced by assault rifle rounds, som have that’s it, like stomp on a balloon, then shoot it with a BB gun
Sure the stomped one gets poppped still, but there are fluids inside an infection form
True
Sometimes they pop sometimes they dont pop I guess
Going with gameplay, as halo war 1, halo 2A, And halo war 2 they dont "pop" like in game
I know, I have the book
Both original and new😊
But remember though, there was nothing else for Dietz to do off of anyway
Regarding Jun's escape from Reach,i was thinking that ONI must've extracted him at some point after the Fleet of Particular Justice started chasing after the POA
That's my best guess, what do you think?
Pretty sure Jun just wasn’t even on the planet
they're not small
im going to guess Jun climbed a space elevator to get off the planet
I wonder how much intelligence an infection form even has. Obviously not very much but must be something
Ant level maybe?
Are the Arbiter and Chief even when it comes to combat?
Or would Chief consider Thel to be an ally?
Only thel considers chief a friend
It'd be something that's for sure. But considering how both Arbiter and Master Chief fought alongside each other during the events of Halo 3, there's something that they both understand.
War brings people common ground.
I would say the opening of Bad Blood indicates Arbiter and Chief have a bond very similar to friendship.
I wonder how classy/lousy covenant restaurants were
I am aware I’m very late to this conversation but I believe Frank said on Twitter that Jun climbed a broken space elevator, where at the top he could probably find like a Pelican or something that is space-capable
Maybe a Longsword, but all we do know is that he did climb a space elevator to physically get off the planet
He wrote a Twitter short story yea but he said it obviously wasn't real.
He was just illustrating that his escape isn't really a mystery, there are plausible explanations.
Are golf balls considered lore XD
Well you can in forge so if master chief went into forge and created golf wouldnt that be considered lore
So yeah
I was kidding, golf exists in Halo
The giant golf balls in forge aren't canon however lol
There's one in Halo 2 campaign iirc however it's an Easter Egg.
Forge in general isn't Canon, as I'm sure you know
I'll make you a canon if you don't stop getting off-topic in #lore-and-universe
Ok fine
wait wait golf is halo cannon
"Golf"? You must mean grifball. Playing anything else the with clubs is high heresy
Hey guys
Hi
Hello
Hewwos
A sport where you stab people with swords, smash them with hammers and blow up a bomb to score?
Probably not
@keen canopy Forge is canon, just not in the exact way it's presented to us. I believe it's the tool used to create War Games maps for Spartans to train on in lore
It’d be pretty hard to try and find a way to make forge canon without making the monitors out to be some sort of matter creating super machines
The route of war games simulations is much more easier to digest imo
That's why I said "Forge is canon, just not in the exact way it's presented to us"
Yeah
Anyone remember that terminal from CEA I think that showed Guilty Spark ejecting a section of his installation out into the vacuum of space?
Yes, Anders does the same thing in Halo Wars 2 with the Banished forces on Installation 09
If he has that amount of control over the ring (I mean why wouldn’t he, he was the monitor assigned to it) then in theory could he shape the landscape to however he pleased?
I dunno why but I feel like if that holds any truth that there could be some sort of obscure explanation for forge being canon
I dunno why I connected that scene in particular to forge it sorta just interested me
It begs the question of why he didn’t jettison the part that the PoA was on? Was he unable? Would’ve it made no difference? Anyone got answers for me as I really don’t know
Probably not, since Cortana explained to chief in H2 that she could detonate the In Amber Clad's fusion reactors, and the explosion would also destroy the ring, but idk i may be mistaken myself if it would've made a difference.
Willing to bet he couldnt sue to damage by the flood
I think a lot of inconsistencies or near-inconsistencies regarding Spark can be swept under the rug of insanity, though maybe that's a bit lazy.
It’s what has to be done with a lot of stuff regarding Bungie’s story, they never cared for consistency
Especially with Reach
cortana still had the index
Installation 03’s monitor required Reclaimer support to eject a portion of the ring
But wasn’t Spark able to do it for Installation-04 by himself? As for your Installation-03 point, wasn’t that because the Didact was there, and he can command Monitors what to do? I could be totally wrong, but isn’t that what more or less what happened, or make sense for it to happen?
Spark did do it on his own, as it was at least a good hundred years before any humans arrived on the ring when he ejected a portion
I thought so. It’d just been a while since I watched it (as it’s part of the CEA terminals iirc)
It is
Belive it had been 40,000 years since the array fired when he did that
Earlier someone said something about the Banished on "Installation 09". Doesn't HW2 take place on the ark? Or is that another name on Installation 09
The Ark keeps a ring ready, I09 in that instance.
My halo dudes Im almost finished with Oblivion and Ive read silent strike and up to ghost of onyx but which one should i read next ? Glasslands ? I know thats the kilo 5 trilogy but does it continue after Onyx?
Indeed, Trad, during HW2, the Ark launches I09 during the story
The Kilo 5 Trilogy does continue after Onyx
Gracias
So I09 was heading to Threshold when a Guardian appears out of nowhere?
Seems like it
From what we can gather, yes. We don’t know if it remained where it was intercepted, or if it was moved
Likely as it was replacing alpha halo
As far as I know, where the guardian came from exactly is a bit of a mystery since there is a 6 month gap between October 28-30 2558 (Created Subjugation of Earth), and April 2, 2559 ( I09 being intercepted by a Guardian)
God the narrator for the kilo 5 trilogy audiobooks is terrible
@spiral jewel You are aware that Cortana has a number of Guardians, so it could’ve been patrolling anywhere
Also, how did that Guardian even pull Installation 09 out of Slipspace?
Probably because it is physically able to pull anything out of slipspace perhaps? We really don’t know an awful lot about it’s capabilities except for the EMP-like effect that isn’t permanent (as it can be repaired), and the fact that they cause a lot of damage upon their first activation
And one of their weaknesses involves the Huragok
Which is why the EMP-like effect isn’t permanent
But it requires a Huragok to solve the problem, as seen in Bad Blood I believe
It'll probably take a whole lot of Huragoks to fix Earth's infrastructure and electric grid
Well I believe ONI has a number of them on Luna, but do correct me if I’m wrong
I’ll leave that one for Ostral or Ado to answer. They are our resident Sanghelli experts more or less
Or what about Fal Chavamee's wife?
Same reason Halsey looks like a young blonde women when she was in her mid-50s in The Package
I seriously need to watch The Duel again
I'm still gonna say,Halo 5 did Jul Mdama dirty
That whole game was pathetic
I was expecting a epic boss battle against Jul,but Locke stabbing him in the neck, that was it?
I didn't even need a boss battle, just something other than...that
I think that whole cutscene did a great injustice for Elites. I mean when do you see a Spec Ops Elite drop their weapon and clumsily make their way towards their enemy (the one Vale killed first)?
Heck, have him live, with the storyline thought up by Haruspis way back when
@inner basin
I felt Halo 5 cutscenes made Elites act kinda drunk, movement-wise.
Oh what about that one at the start of Blue Team. The way the high ranking Elite walks, ahhhh, that’s fun to make fun of
That game ruined Blue Team
What's weird is that during gameplay, they seemed to move well-enough. (from what I remember, at least)
Yeah gameplay is fine, but it’d be hard to mess that up
It’s the cutscenes that they made, ruined them. Then acting drunk does seem like a fair observation
Then there's the Chief vs Locke fight
Also, where the hell was Fireteam Majestic?,we never see them or get a mention of them,i think
Doin' other stuff
We don’t hear of them at all in 5. Throne was supposed to be in Osiris, but they scratched that and put Buck in that place instead
Yup
Bad Blood
Ok
Yeah New Blood was where J.D met his end, but I don’t think it was bad. I enjoyed it. The author clearly put in the time to nail the characters
It also wasn’t a throw away death like Jul either
Bad Blood was the one where Buck and Dare got married right?
Ye
What happened to Mickey at the end of Bad Blood?
I know most people probably think this is dumb but something inside me wishes the leader of Osiris was rookie and he got to be fleshed out as a character and such
Yeah, my main thing about Rookie's death was the lost potential for fleshing out.
We do know that the Rookie was from Luna
But he has history that can be fleshed out instead. I think that engagement with Gage Yevgenny was nice
I feel that the short story Dirt is highly underrated
What's everyone's opinion on the Fall of Reach animated series?
Doesn’t accurately depict the events that occurred in it either
Later, settling
Anyone else besides me thinks that Blue Team in the series look way too young
They look baby faced
Yeah, it's an odd juxtaposition.
And the gym fight scene, what the hell was that?
It was creepy
John nearly hit one of the ODSTs with a weight bar
Where he 1v3 a squad of ODSTs?
