I think that his animations glitched so then it had no idea what to do and decided to just have no animations which made it glitch into the ground probaly stuck in the crouching animation.
Actually i think you knocked him out and then it glitched so then he never got up but could still move. and his arm also got stuck in the ground. He did not get you since the game thought he was still knocked out so he never got you when you stood on him.
