Hes defending his cap that is how it should be

#

And preventing you from getting cards which is a winning move

But in the end of it all red was only getting the basic 5 troops bonus which was even lower then me so it would only make sense if he either attacks me and claims my bonuses or stops pink

If he keeps you alive he has a ton of cards later for if he gets blocked by someone

#

Bonuses dont really
Matter in progressive when trades are getting bigger and one of the guys getting a bonus is getting no cards

And believe me pink was destroying everyone the whole game and he won in the end as well I believe if red had tried to stop him somewhere along the game he won't have lost by then

Yeah I mean I wasnt watching the game so idk hard to tell without seeing rest of board

#

If red could do anything or not

#

Your best move in my opinion is to move your stack back to cap and hope he trades cards with you

#

Prevent him from just killing you. You wont get a
Big enough stack to roll his cap with just those bonuses vs his card trades

The real question is why you took all the bonuses behind reds capital

#

If you attack 1/turn there, you shouldn't get cardblocked as long as other players are still alive back there

Killing them out entirely vs just weakening them so they can't take you down are very different though 😄

# flint patio If red could do anything or not

The lower part of the unseen map alongside the rightmost territory was taken over by pink while blue was cooped up in the top black was fighting with red over the territory right next to him

And by the time I found out it was too late

When you took either of these two territories you'd see the cap - at that point, taking more than 1 territory per attack is self destructive

If you had pink or blue still in that bottom right section, could just only attack there if they make an attack (so even if they're down to 1 territory, it's multiple players that can trade with you, rather than red alone)

It also then means if red finally blocks off pink on right side of map / even if it's at their capital only, you're still trading with pink for some cards - they can explore fully if they like - which means you get a bunch of new cards while red can't keep up with pinks bonus, ensuring you at worst get 2nd

What red did there was exactly what you should do - prevent the opponent from gaining cards - so you outpace them on troops after a few trade-ins - and means they have a lot of territories they can get cards in if needed, later on in the game - bonuses don't matter after a few trade-ins - because cards may be 100+ every 3 turns, while the bonuses may only be 30 (even with most) - so territories to get cards from is gold in progressive games, especially progressive capitals - so checking for any potential blockers like that capital is something you'd want to be doing more often too

It's a really fun mix of settings you're playing there but they are pretty advanced - combining fog, blizzards, capitals & progressive cards together all at once

#

In the stats button (bar chart) on left, there's also troop counts / territory counts - a little less useful in fog games but good for counting your own territories mostly

Progressive or not

Thanks for all the help @primal aspen and @flint patio

Can see what I mean by troop/territory counts here btw
