#WHY? In Capitals do people insist on conquering all territories?

Three options I can think of: 1: they don’t know they don’t need to take the whole board (you got beat by a noob), 2: they want to play the game to completion because they want to, so they do (oh well), 3: you really pissed them off by hitting their capital at a stupid time or breaking or interfering with their card block on another player or you broke their bonuses in the early game impeding their attempts at early kills (if so they may think you deserve to get world dominated and they are probably right).
🤣 probably 1 or 2. I literally wave the white flag repeatedly then take my horde and waste it so the they can easily win. At that point I’m happy with 2nd and want the game over.
Mine was option 4 - I knew I didn't need to take over board but because everyone else did it, I assumed that not taking players out would mean less rankings points. I think some believe this too, that or they just want to massage their ego
Getting that last kill is worth more points in some tournaments so that might be the source of some of the confusion. Plus SMG rank system is not very transparent in how it rewards points.
Yeah I have no idea how it works, I just try and win or come as close to 1st as I can!
A common mistake players make is fortifying off their cap into the fog. If I have you blocked and I dont see your cap stack I'm assuming you're still on cap. Until I see that stack or I know 100% i have enough to roll your cap I'm taking one territory per turn.
I do hate it though when there's no good options to place Cap, no bottlenecks just some region within a territory. especially when an opponent has their cap on their border of your territory so can just break you each turn and you can't fully defend as you need to keep someon cap.
i totally agree, this is obnoxious af and drives me crazy
it's capitals not world dom
The world is their oyster. We just live in it. Let them Dominate the Globe if that’s their jam.
…speaking of jam why not take this opportunity to take a break and stretch your legs and take a moment to assemble for yourself a nice jam sandwich. Now that would be Capital!
only if there's peanut butter!
Only thing I would add to what Dred and Puddle said is some people like to world dom to practice pathing. I personally see it as the Risk equivalent of teabagging but if you are on a new map and want to practice good pathing that could be another reason for it.
if it's within the same turn...
if they practice pathing for more than a turn it's stalling
I’ve been practicing my pathing around this discord for most of an hour. Am I stalling?
Why do individuals surround ur cap of 1 and instead of winning game just sit there. Guess they have the a hole gene.
If all other players are dead then your theory is solid.
If a bot or other player is still alive they may be keeping you alive for higher placement (or think they are if they don’t understand how placement works). When I play against a bunch of noobs I’ll sometimes kill the bots first even if they are neutral if an ally worked with me well just in case they think it matters. But obviously I do it as quickly as possible.
A better question is why are you complaining when you could have simply surrendered. If you reported that player, you should have also gotten a suspention too for toxic behavior.
Then just hit surrender instead of being toxic.
Some would say you should be banned for your lack of the inner workings of the ranking system. lol
I would agree with you. Let them take a few extra moments to fullfill their fun. If you can't handle an extra 60 seconds added to the end of the match you can't handle playing a game that often takes hours to play a single match.
Yes, if they are rushing and trying hard but yet make a mistake and accidently take 2 turns, banned for life with no chance of refund. (Sarcasm)
This often occurs when a player waited out 30+ turn timers, knowing the other 1 other player was rushing each of his turns to finish the game quickly. So at the end he spends an extra short moment to try to show the staller how it feels to be stalled.
Flak not a quitter.
I thought point of castles is take all castles not all spaces on board.
Wtf are you talking about out stalling. Flake mean Falk you must be one of the individuals I am referring to. Go figure
I sometimes do it out of satisfaction but I am quick so it just takes 1 turn anyway. I don't see it as bad manners if you do it quickly. Take all map and say GG before hitting the last capital.
But why you get nothing from doing so. Different strokes for different folks
Just asmr
Hate to spoil it but you gain nothing material from playing Risk in general. It's all about the playing experience.
What about these battle points? 🤣
So my pet peeve is when you are in a situation where you are clearly losing, so you do the gracious thing and you remove your troops from capital. to indicate "I surrender, please finish this"
and then they STILL insist on dragging it out and trying to hit every territory instead of just taking the cap
lol. My pet peeve is when someone acts like they want to end the game faster and doesn't hit surrender, wasting everybodies time.
well sometimes they are trying to place higher maybe?
If I were trying to place higher, I would not abandon my cap. lol That doesn't even make sense. Moving off the cap just stalls the game.
It is because you don't get to see which opponents you faced if you press surrender.
Oh, wow. I did not know that. Then you can't see their names, report, block, or counter-report if that is true. weird that they would have it like that.
they changed that a while ago, you do see it now
you get the same screen as after a defeat
you do now
You do it because its fun. I always do it.
You got to watch out for the sore losers that will report you for stalling like a little girl.
Like someone said. if they have been on you all game its fun to have a little fun with them before you end them. Its not stalling when only them left, they are free to leave the game.
Is it just me or more common that people leave games often before round 2 make its boring. 6 player game is all of a sudden 4 bots and two players?
Why is that?
You should get warning if you join games and leaves early if you do it often. AI moderators are needed.
Why join a game if you then leave right away?
Now only today i played 6 player cap 3 times, 4 people leave before round 3.
Its frustationg
It really destroys the game.
I agree with you. Just saying, I used to do a special 666 attack against those kinds of people, even after they missed turn after turn. Nonetheless, I was banned.
I am totally with you on this also. I still don't know why. Perhaps a person logged into a second account to fill the lobby so you would start. Perhaps someone joined without looking at the settings, then the match started too fast. Maybe they were just trolling. Maybe they disconnected. Who knows. I get you though, it does ruin it.
connection issues, it's been happening a fair bit lately
I have brought this up before. I swear there is a group of toxic players who will report you instead of surrendering. Even though it only takes 30 seconds to clear the board. I think SMG has an ear for the "Toxic 5" who seem to have swayed them to ban people for the most pettiest of reasons.
