In this picture green has more territory than you resulting in more troops!

So if you have under 12 territories you get 3
12-14 you get 4
15-17 you get 5
And so on
Territory bonus = Number of territories/ 3 (and round down - 3 is the minimum you can get)

But i dont think we were that different in amount of countries when he started his turn

When he started our amounts were about the same

I just have no clue how to strategically play this game (mainly cuz most of this game is luck... its too big of a factor imo)

A lot of your questions have already been answered but, I just wanted to throw my two pence in to the ring about something you said.

"0 chance of winning" - you always have a chance of winning. Work with someone, strike when someone's weak, chill and take cards, be inconspicuous, show your willingness to work with someone as a common enemy. There are so many things you can do.

thanks, i think i at least feel like im getting somewhat better now by watching a couple vids of Pete, still havent won besides that one off game, but i understand how to communicate with the people in the game more now
