#WHY AM I ALWAYS LAST

Every time I play a game I am always the last player to go. This always loses me the game as I am always the last to pick my territory and I always have to try to fight another player for theirs.
I just lost a game today where I should have won, but due to Red going before me I lost the game.

Is it because I havnt spent any money on the game? So I have a very low chance to get anything other than last turn?

This is getting very annoying and I can only think of 2 games in the past week where I was not last pick.🤬

…. Yes definitly related to how much money you have spent on the game for sure… 👀

Placement is randomly made, there's no "balanced placement" setting to do a "balanced blitz"-style randomisation, so it's completely random

your position is random, and going last gives you more troops and also more information where other players want to go for bonuses. in some settings it's an advantage to go last

I also lost another game today because I had to fight another player for thier terrioty because I went last and I ended up losing because they were able to use their cards before me because they went first and I lost

I have asked other players and they have said the same thing?
Everyone is always in last position? You do see that's impossible, right?

#

let's get an unbiased sample. Write down your starting position and the number of players for the next three games. Want to bet you won't be always last?

We get a bunch of F2P players claiming that paid players get better dice (to encourage paying)
We get a bunch of Premium players claiming that F2P players get better dice (to boost early experience & encourage paying)
The reality is we do neither, and humans have a bad habit of pulling conclusions out of completely unrelated data

"Everyone always last" is very obviously not possible, otherwise no-one goes first rooThink
We as humans are not very good with understanding RNG, and tend to remember negative outcomes much more.

You could try applying the same argument to cosmetics selected or battle points level or rank too, but it's simply not the case.

every game stops immediately at turn 1 because it's no one's turn

If everyone's last... no one is

2nd place is first loser

Personally I think last is one of the best positions in 6 player risk

#

I hate 3rd as no extra troops

void ivy

I disagree, going last is always a disadvantage in every Risk mode with the exception of Speeed Blitz. ;)

I find it really useful in smaller maps where bonuses are tricky to get (like alcatraz) - in prog caps settings

Being last to act limits your bonus options, which is vital in a fixed game. You're also more subject to dying naturally (being eliminated for your cards) and less able to eliminate others.
And not to mention, the bonus troops you get for starting in a later position don't nearly make up for what you can lose within your first turn already.

regal elm
# void ivy How so?

Going last you get 3 bonus troops, and yes I agree that your options do become limited but honestly it most maps what bonus you go for does not matter. In the other goes you won’t lose 9 territories and definitely won’t be eliminated so it allows you to commit yourself strongly to a certain bonus

Interesting. What maps do you usually play on?

#

I'm assuming smaller maps, since that's where those bonus troops become a lot more meaningful.

in fixed, bonuses matter on almost every map

Actually tracked 30 games and Ave ranking was 4.6 for the 30 games. I do not pay to play either. Not sure if it evens out if I tracked 100 games.

that's 3.5 standard deviations above (below?) the expected 3.5 rank, pretty unusual

oak bobcat

Well yes, you quote standard deviations and I think 3.5 is about 0.02% so only 2 in 10,000 would expect this result. So yes unusual but that seems entirely plausible to me. Not sure on the size of the player base but unless there are less than 5000 of us we would expect someone to have that result.

You are right. Doesn't matter when you enter game. I always end up last also . Devs need to quit slanting game to AI advantage

robust crest
#

anyway, it's obviously impossible for everyone to be last all the time

#

the average starting position in a 6 player game has to be 3.5
