(Going off of your messages in #risk_chat) Risk gives a couple options to choose from for a username. If you log in with steam, you can also use your steam name.
I'm less familiar with mobile, so I did some research and found this, may be worth trying: "On iOS, go to Settings->Game Center. Enter your Nickname. Now go into Risk, touch your Avatar, touch the gear, bottom right button to sync with game center". @visual estuary

Every account has a RISK Name - if an account doesn't have one (super old) but is logged into, it'll require a RISK name to proceed.
Even if you have a linked social account (Steam, Google, Apple, whatever) - although it lets you set display name, the randomly generated RISK Name is there behind it
