The irony there is that it was beneficial for both players to leave you be, since you were sandwiched between them they didn't have to worry about any surprises coming from there (can see the only risk at all times) - and mid-late game you get cardblocked for being in a bad position (and they can get a kill on you after some trade-ins)
It happens when you play lower ranked players that just don't understand the gamemode, so it's often worth the risk of placing your cap more centrally than back corner
That said too, you wouldn't have seen either of their caps there since you placed before them? Just a risk with that map. I don't like it tbh 😄

I wanted to try going for turn 1 Spain since I spawned with 4 territories there and a turn 2 France, was hoping to leverage that into a central cap since I didn't really think I'd have any luck with the 3 in dineric or the 2 on Russia. Ironically enough purple who capped Marseille and red who neighbour capped me were the only 2 who saw my cap 🤣
