Why are almost half the 'players' and I say this very tongue in cheek, named 'General' ?

It used to be a thing (maybe still a thing? I'm not sure) that people who don't input a name get a randomly generated name, and a significant amount of the names are those types of names

idk if it's actually half of players (I don't have any stats) but it's true that all of those formatted names you keep seeing like 'General Bains 23452' are randomly generated names by Risk

Is it more likely in your mind that all of those players are part of a guild and perfectly aligned to pick similarly formatted names?

When you create a new account, you get a RISK Name

If you played via steam for example, you just see the steam name by default - but you actually have a RISK Name you might have never even seen 😄

If you use log in with appleID, game center, or google - it'll show that social name as the name you see

If you create a new account without using social login at all, only time you'd actually see the name first - and generally need to pick one - whereas social login route you can change the random one you were assigned

You more than likely have one too 😂. Check your profile. There’s arrows where you can switch between your different names

For example I typically play under “Ace” but I pretty commonly switch to my “General xxxx ####” name when I play publicly so I don’t get targeted

I play most of my games in casual. So if I have it on they click on my profile. If they are hosting they immediately kick me. If I’m hosting they either leave or don’t ready up (or worse, ready up but target me for the whole game). So my games usually kinda suck if I’m playing under my own name/check mark. When I play under the general name I don’t have any of those problems

So I always sign in thru Steam but the game wont let me change it to my Steam name... just only allows me to choose my Risk name. Any idea how to fix this?

Good chance your name was flagged as inappropriate//automatically blocked from using social names by server ^

You have a general name too. Check your profile...u can choose between "general______" and your steam/google login i think. On mobile you cant even edit name i think u just choose between the 2.
