Apologies if this post violates any rules on posting, this is literally my first time posting anything here on Discord, total forum-illiterate here guys, thanks for your patience with this old-school fart, (me) lol.
But anyway, had to jump on here cuz I wanted to make sure everyone was aware of this absolute cheater I just played. Been playing for about 2-3 yrs and have never had this happen until now, but this person, "Rashid" (U. K.) somehow hacked themselves quite a few more troops than they were supposed to get during the initial troop placement period in the beginning of the game. (23 troops in Texas, 23 more in Arizona) Hopefully my screenshots are able to clearly convey this. They also somehow managed to give themselves 46 additional troops on their 2nd turn, which unfortunately I was not able to get a screenshot of.
Of course I reported them as cheating in-game, hoping something comes of it. (not gonna hold my breath on that one, though) But I at least needed to vent to someone/blast them on here so hopefully others don't engage with this scumbag if at all possible.
P. S. - How do I post my screenshots? Thanks in advance...

Cheating reports are not handled via community chatrooms, to report cheating you need to do so in-game.
Process:
- Click the avatar of who you wish to report on the right
- Select the red triangle box on the left panel below the avatar in alliance window
- Select the reason and hit send
You will receive a reply within 30d regarding the outcome of the report.
Generally posting frustrations aren't actioned but are likely to be disregarded by most players (you get a LOT of "I think player x and player y playing together" so it gets old, fast)
Hackers tend to be caught quite quickly though 👍
Thanks for the quick response, appreciate it. Like I said, I did report the incident in-game, just came here to warn people. And yes, first time posting, but I've jumped on here a few times in the past when I've merely suspected someone of cheating/stalling, just to see what can be done, and so have come across quite a few examples of people venting their suspicions without any proof,so I'd never want to be that guy, but I felt this blatant case was different, since I do have screenshot proof, just haven't figured out how to include those in the post.
Images are restricted behind levels // necessary restriction as a public discord server (we get a fair bit of traffic, malicious users come with that too)
Sure, makes sense. Just could've swore Ive seen screenshot posted on here before.
But anyway, forgot to mention, but this was a 1v1 ranked game, with 4 bots, playing U. S. map, semi-automatic. We're each supposed to get 13 additional troops after the initial startup 1 troop on each territory. This person puts down 23 troops on Texas, then 23 more on Arizona.
But good to know that hackers tend to get caught quickly, thanks. 👍
IF the higher-ups determine that this person was in fact cheating, do they then adjust my 1v1 ranking points accordingly? (I hope)
For anyone that's permanently banned (like hacking does), yeah - they get placed last in all games they played the current season
Nice. Thanks for the info. 🤞
There is a “hacking” option in the in game report. If you are unfortunate enough to see hacking in a future game use that report. SMG is pretty serious about hacking so maybe a “cheating” report is enough to draw their attention and they will detect the hacking on their own but reporting “hacking” is definitely better.
You should see a suspension message (next time you open the app) if things are working the way they were the one time I remember reporting hacking. This is apparently (I asked on here) an automated response and in actuality the player is banned not just suspended if SMG reviews and finds hacking.
Something has definitely happened if you see that quick suspension message because normally the “I suspect collusion” or “stalling” type reports (I guess we all make them from time to time) get the “report has expired after no further infractions detected” message after 30 days.
Don’t be discouraged if you don’t see a message either. The one time I encountered a hacker. I reported in game (as hacking as Dred recommended), I did not see a message right away. That being said, the player was suspended right away and points restored. I’m on mobile… not sure if that was the cause of not seeing the message or not.
I’m also on mobile. The message is a pop up on opening the app and would be easy to miss if you happened to click once without looking.
Serious messages sometimes show up in the news tab, but they must expire because I have news items all the way back to the first time I downloaded the game but the few suspension/ ban messages I’ve seen are not there.
Thank you both for the info/encouragement! I did actually report hacking specifically along with a brief description in the comment box while still in-game, so hopefully that was enough to get a response at some point. Although I haven't had any pop up messages yet. Fingers crossed.
P.S. - Great name, Dred Pirate Robards! One of my favorite films!
Speaking of names, I notice a lot of players have what must be customized usernames in-game, whereas I didn't have that option, I was forced to choose from one of the preset default names, and don't seem to be able to change it. I've always assumed that was either because those players' names were "grandfathered" in from an older version of the game, and customization no longer exists, or it's because I'm using the mobile version, and maybe it's only an option on PC or something? (again, assuming there's a PC version, I don't even know)
I believe the only options for fully custom names are change your steam or Apple ID name and tie that to the risk account. You can change that as many times as you like as long as you don’t do something offensive and get locked out.
The in game risk name assigned at random or chosen from a random list will persist and you can toggle back to it or will be playing under it anytime you aren’t “logged in” with steam or Apple.
I think you only have one name change in game so you might want to save that or just make sure you choose something you like since you are stuck with it.
I for example only go in profile and toggle my name over and play as “the dred pirate Robards” for tournament games or practice, so the rest of the time I’m stuck with the risk name I selected from a list of random options the first day I had the account (since that process used up my one name change).
Gotcha, thanks. Yeah, these days I'm pretty much an android exclusive user, (after my last PC crash, I never went back) so looks like I'm outta luck for now. But good to know for future reference, just in case. Thanks again.
You can link Google (effectively "Google play games") to use the play games name as display name on android
